I hung up feeling nervous but happy that I would finally be getting the help that I need. And then I get a call today from a completely different person (made me feel as though she was talking down to me, complete 180 from the lady I spoke with yesterday) claiming that you guys don't deal with Medicare at all, she asked if I had other insurance and since I don't, that was the end of the conversation, and she wouldn't even go over any other cash payment options.. Maybe people like me who are mentally ill wouldn't be so sick if there were more companies out there that were willing to help us out. How dare you assume that I can't pay cash so you just won't work with me. I guess it's better that I don't deal with a company like that anyways. Thank you for making a bad day that much worse. And thanks again for absolutely NOTHING. I will be leaving feedback on every networking sight that I can to get the word out that your company only cares about children with problems and the adults like myself, who genuinely need help too, can just rot apparently (their website also states they work with adults too, not just children, AND in my original form I sent in, I explained that I'm a 37 year old woman)... She started having students there, and since then I have maybe seen her once in five years. I have been on the same medication's for half my life. Same dose, no issues. Jody and the students would write my prescriptions for a year because I travel a lot and I don't have access to American medical so it's important that I refill six months at a time so that I can travel without worry. While on the road, many miles from home, I went to get my refill at a Walmart and Dr Stubler had CANCELED all of my prescriptions. Of course it left me frantic because I need these medication's to survive. I called her office over and over and the receptionist kept saying she would call me back, but I never ever got a call back. I gave it another shot and called again and the receptionist said "Oh, I told her to call you. She canceled your prescriptions because she wants to see you more than once a year and now she wants your lab work". Im traveling. I can't just run into her office. After the prescriptions were already written for a year, Jody called and canceled and left me stranded with no medication far away from home. I am not on any narcotics or controlled substance. She canceled the prescriptions with no contact, no communication whatsoever, to tell that she was going it or why. I would have paid the office a doctor visit if they wanted my money but really dangerous to put someone on medication and then just take it away. During the time that she cut my prescriptions off, I also had a house fire and was displaced along with a family. Worrying about my medication that keeps me alive on top of it, was one of the worst times in my life. No doctor should write you a prescription for a certain amount of time and then just decide to cancel it halfway through without even telling their patient. The staff is there for a paycheck. That's it. When I return to Utah, I won't be going back and it's so sad because I loved her service and understanding so much in the beginning.

I am…read morescheduling appointments with a few different therapists to find the right one, and I scheduled an appointment with Lisa Croudy. I also wanted to schedule an appointment with Sara White, who is also at Creative Life Counseling. I didn't hear back from them for a few days, so I called and left a brief message asking them to please return my call. The receptionist called me back and proceeded to tell me that I could not make an appointment with two people at their practice because they would be "competing for my business." In my opinion therapists shouldn't treat patients as customers, they should treat them as people they genuinely want to help. They shouldn't compete for a patient, they should do what they think is best for the patient even when what's best for them is going to a different therapist. I continued to ask the receptionist questions about this because I found this odd, and then all of a sudden the receptionist became abrasive, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. She cancelled the appointment I had with Lisa Croudy, told me to go somewhere else for my therapy, and hung up on me. I am utterly and completely appalled and disgusted with the receptionist's behavior. To speak to someone seeking mental health counseling like that is incredibly dangerous. And furthermore, how do you expect to gain new clients when you have someone like that taking your appointments? If you're so concerned with getting "business," that is the completely opposite way to go about it. I am thoroughly disgusted with this practice. I do not recommend anyone even attempt to seek counseling from them if this is the kind of "business" they run. I come from the mindset that one should never treat someone with that much disrespect, especially when they are reaching out for help.

My son had neuropsych testing here a year ago, and we had to have it redone this year by a…read moredifferent professional. The neuropsych report from Steinmann was brief, did not include diagnoses, and was not what the University needed for accommodations. Also, Sugarman stated in her report that my son did not have ADHD while for the past year he continued to have symptoms consistent with ADHD. The professional we saw this year found that my son does in fact have ADHD. Dr. Sugarman herself did not meet with my son to administer tests, this was done by office staff. She spoke with my son for about 5-15 minutes to ask him what college accommodations he was looking for, assuring him she would provide that, but not to glean any additional information to complete the evaluation itself. We received the evaluation which was 6 pages long, mostly consisting of charts and missing recommended accommodations and any diagnoses. She briefly spoke with my son after providing the report (for about 5-15 minutes), during which she tried to sell him on a costly treatment called computer assisted cognitive remediation that she provides. In looking into the recommended computer assisted cognitive remediation treatment, it did not appear to be an empirically validated treatment. Dr. Sugarman also recommended this treatment to my friend's child who's clinical picture was completely different than my son's. After receiving the evaluation, we asked Dr. Sugarman to provide specific diagnoses and were told we would have to pay additional money in order to obtain that level of detailed information. My son later reached out to Steinmann because the University said that his neuropsych report was not usable for accommodations. Dr. Sugarman provided a document listing functional limitations, some of which don't apply to my son, and others which are attributable to ADHD, and then stated that he should be encouraged to develop a relationship with each professor to establish accommodations. Also, prior to the eval, Steinmann said they could bill insurance but that insurance would likely not cover it. I went through the process to have the insurance approve the eval under the billing codes provided me by Steinmann, but then after the evaluation they billed my insurance company under different codes than the ones they provided me. When the insurance company and I called together to ask them to rebill with the original codes, they left us on hold for 40 minutes before we gave up and hung up. We called a week later and they hung up on us three times in a row. The neuropsychological testing we had done through a different provider was a very different experience. He himself met with my son for 7 hours administering tests. He spoke with my husband and I for an hour and a half to obtain more information. After providing a 16 page report he spent an hour and 45 minutes going over the results and answering questions. There were clear diagnoses, including moderate/severe ADHD. He also clearly listed academic accommodations (longer test times, tests administered in environments free of distractions, using a smart pen to take notes in class, etc) in his report. The cost of the test was roughly the same as what we paid at Steinmanns. I have had two friends who also had a negative experience at Steimanns. I am worried about people not only wasting their money, but wasting time in getting inaccurate evals (I feel like my son's college experience last year would have been very different if he had had an appropriate diagnosis, an accommodations plan, and appropriate medication in place).

We had a very concerning experience with Summit Counseling while our minor child was receiving…read moretherapy services. As parents who still retain our parental rights, we attempted to participate appropriately in our child's care and treatment planning. However, communication with us as legal parents was refused even in a limited capacity allowed under Utah law. This made it extremely difficult to stay informed about our child's therapeutic progress. We were also informed that therapy sessions billed under our child's Medicaid coverage focused on concerns raised by the placement caregiver rather than our child's own treatment goals. Our child had expressed reunification as an important goal, yet that goal was not reflected in therapy direction. Parents should expect therapy providers working with minors to remain neutral, patient-centered, and willing to communicate appropriately with legal parents unless a court specifically restricts that involvement. That was not our experience. We are sharing this so other families understand the importance of asking how parental participation is handled when a child is in placement and receiving counseling services.

Basically, a receptionist, a medical assistant and provider who don't communicate effectively. My son has been without his medication for two weeks and always an excuse for poor communication and poorly run organization. Even my pharmacy acknowledged zero response after several attempts. A provider leaves and makes promises to refill meds until they find a replacement with zero response and excuses from a receptionist that has no idea what is going on. Your child gets the whiplash from this poorly run behavioral institution! Any pediatrician can manage better than this place! What an embarrassment! Not even a real psychiatrist to manage things!

She mostly either looked down at her lap or just sort of stared at you. First we given the wrong kind of appointment it was supposed to be for medications not just counseling. They do not take our insurance but we decided to just paid for the first visit which was $180.00. It was like just taking that money and burning it, that is how bad the first appointment went. Maybe there other counselors and doctor are better but for a first impression the place is very bad. They made him a second appointment which we are cancelling for sure.
