It is a smaller pond than Davis Senior High, and there is less of an academic pressure-cooker vibe at DV. The students and faculty there are accepting of different folks and the atmosphere is very welcoming. There is academic rigor without brutal competition, which to me is the educational sweet spot. Each teacher also deeply cares about the character development of each student, providing individual feedback about how to grow and thrive academically and to be successful Christian young people. Academically the kids end up approx 1 year ahead in math, and many of them are taking Jr college classes as soon as 9th grade, getting a head start on life. Spiritually, the school is based in Christian education and encourages the children toward personal relationships with God. The class sizes are small (my kids are in classes of 11 and 19) which means the teachers spend a lot of personalized time with all the students, including personalized extra work or tutoring when needed. The teachers check in personally with parents often which is much appreciated. We know and trust the kids teachers and know what they are being taught, no woke silliness. Bullying and mean speech are not tolerated among the children.

It is simple disappointing. Remember, if the person set up to interact with you when making an enrollment decision is unhelpful and inexperienced, think what the kids will get. She is still one of my contacts until today. Man, maybe I'm biased because the kiddos in my classroom where so freakin adorable and smart. There is a nice big black top for the kids to play, including a play structure and a field. There are always yard duties out. The cafeteria also has an outdoor area for sitting, so it's nice to have both. The secretary and office personnel were always friendly, and I can't say that about every school. The other teachers I talked to were also nice. Plus, one of my friend's mom works here =)
