Everyone here is friendly, kind, and hard working. As for sticking my access with the needles, we all have our preferred techs. There are a few things that are considered cons, but bother me the most. For instance, when a patient is coughing profusely, they should be given a mask immediately. Unfortunately most often, no one cares and no one gives a mask until sometime has gone by. The patients bathroom inside the facility, can be opened from both sides of the door. Once I was in the bathroom and my pants were down to my ankles. Someone tried to come in and even though I said "someone's in here!" and because they are able to open the door from their side, they continued to open the door and I had to run just to shut it again! That occurred a while ago in 2015. I complained about it to the higher stuff and still nothing has happened. Anyway this place is all right.

After being told he couldn't have his heart test because he was in a wheelchair with his sling. He uses a Hoyer lift and the employee who was to help him, said he wasn't going to "risk his career by injuring his back trying to lift him". That's all I will say for that male employee, who wouldn't seek the hoyer lift. My uncle called back to complain and Jenni listened attentively without judgement to neither on the employee she works with or my uncle. Jenni was extremely empathetic and her sincerity resonated an employee who truly cares about the patients, and not "just a person who uses a wheelchair". Applause to Torrance Memorial for having such a dedicated employee, and exemplifies the top notch leadership skills for her team.

This experience has completely shattered my sense of security, leaving me feeling entirely vulnerable and unable to sleep. ​Below is a detailed account of the incident and the systemic failures that followed: ​Incident Details & Failures ​Failure #1: Unauthorized Room Entry and False Representation At approximately 11:00 PM on July 13th, an unknown male wearing a yellow smock over scrubs and a face mask entered my room. When I asked who he was, he insisted he was my night nurse. I knew this was incorrect as both of my assigned nurses were female. Despite me telling him to leave, he insisted a second time that he was my nurse. Only after he looked at the whiteboard and saw my actual nurses' names did he say, "Oh, I made a mistake, I'm sorry." He then approached my bed to apologize again. When I asked for his name, he identified himself as A**ad before finally leaving. The shift change was at 7pm. How did he think I was his patient at 11pm? Make it make sense. ​Failure #2: Complete Lack of Response to Emergency Call Button While this unauthorized man was still in my room, I hit my call button, alerted the operator that a strange man was in my room, and begged her to send help. She promised to send someone, but no one ever came. After the man left, I called a second time. Again, the operator promised to send someone. Again, no one came. ​Failure #3: Delayed Escalation and Negligence I was forced to hit the call button a third time. The operator informed me that my night nurse, Gina, was back from her break but was on the phone. Out of sheer desperation and fear, I had to threaten to rip the IV out of my hand and walk down to the nurses' station myself just to get someone to take my safety seriously. I also called Security twice to file a report and no one came out to talk to me as of 1:37am. ​Context of Vulnerability ​I want to emphasize how incredibly vulnerable I was during this intrusion. I have an IV attached to my left hand and was actively prepping for a colonoscopy the next morning. I had just gotten off the toilet when this man entered. Because of my medical equipment and prep, I was physically unable to run or defend myself. ​Post-Incident Actions taken ​Once G**a was alerted, she immediately came to my room, listened to my account, and brought in her nurse manager. Because the Patient Business Office was closed, I left them a voicemail. I also personally contacted Hospital Security to file a formal report. ​Recognition of Exemplary Staff ​Despite the systemic failure of the hospital's security and communication systems, I want to formally recognize my care team. Gina has been incredibly helpful, efficient, empathetic, and deeply remorseful about what happened to me. A***a has also been exceptionally sweet, professional, and attentive to all of my needs. They are the only reason I feel any modicum of care here. ​Request for Action ​This was a terrifying security breach. Here I go again. Apparently St. Mary's do not send reports to your doctor unless you yelp them. My…read more15 yr old son had an X-ray 7/30. They said they'd have the results in 24 hours. Not sure why but I had to call on 8/6 to get the report. They said they'd send the report and the doctor has yet to receive it. It's 8/18/26. This is like the 3rd time we don't receive results in a timely fashion!! And no I can't go anywhere else. Dignity Health makes their employees use their facilities unless you want to pay an arm and leg to go elsewhere. And seeing as I got stuck with a 32k bill for inadvertently going out of network one time, I can't afford to go elsewhere. Registration and X-ray staff were great but overall poor follow through.

He is definitely a trooper. The staff here is super friendly and helpful. Whenever I'm here to visit and sit through his session, I am able to witness the nurses and techs check on him to make sure he is getting the treatment he needs. The doctors come by periodically (few times a week) to come check on their patients to make sure they're okay and see if there is anything they need without a visit to their office. They offer hemodialysis at this location and training on peritoneal dialysis.

My mother in law died there years back because of the unqualified medical staff at this facility. I knew the fatality rate there and pleaded with LAFD not to take her there. Their excuse was they have to go to the nearest hospital. They know how bad it is but they don't care. After she died, I saw the paramedics outside and stared them down. They were aware she died but didn't give a s**t. Just laughing and carrying on. Nothing like 911 on TV let me tell you. I had an experience back around 2016 where I almost bled out. Of course they took me to Gardena Memorial Crypt. The first doctor or RN couldn't figure out the cause of the bleeding and then comes screaming at me, "Why didn't you say you have liver disease?" Well, maybe because I didn't know "Einstein"? Then the butcher...er surgeon who stopped the bleeding did such a lousy job, the wound got infected and I wound up in emergency at Torrance Memorial right after and heard some very disheartening comments about the butch...ah surgeon at GMH after the procedure was done correctly. The surgeon at GMH even said, "this is going to keep happening". Well Nostradamus, it hasn't after 10+ years but you did a great job of almost killing me. It breaks my heart what has happened to this hospital. In 1969, my mother and I were involved in a horrendous automobile accident which took her life. The doctors who were associated with GMH at that time were amazing. My current opthomologist is part of a group associated with Dr Markman who was part of the team that treated my severe facial injuries and saved my vision. The nurses were so kind because they knew my mother had passed but my family didn't want to me to know yet so I would heal faster, though I sensed she was gone. The staff was so supportive back then. I was in ICU when the funeral was held so I never got to say my final goodbye. Anyway, this facility is a tragedy waiting to happen. I don't think anyone should come here by choice, especially for a heart attack. Better to take your chances and have your family or friend drive you and roll the dice rather than allow a non-caring paramedic take you to this death trap. Avoid at all possible cost.
