Diane, the lovely owner is so gracious and sweet and was able to handle the flow of oenophiles quite effortlessly. They have the main tasting room and also an adjacent room that could accommodate a group tasting. Diane did a great job of giving us a detailed description of each wine and I was actually pleasantly surprised! I'm not a huge fan of Md wine but truly enjoyed the wines here. I purchased a bottle of the Estate Red and they had a wonderful sangria made with their Chambourcin which I also purchased. I love supporting local and especially such a great vineyard such as this one that is also a working farm. I would encourage anyone to venture out to this vineyard--but actually put the address in your gps and not just the name, you will end up at someone's home. I assume this family are use to people ending up at their home-they have a sign that has the address of the vineyard on it--thank you mystery family!

I didn't really like any of it, but the Syrah was the best of the four. I thought the Merlot and Cab Franc had an unfortunate smell, but still finished the entire flight.

There's a sweet white, Pennsylvania blueberry, and a sweet red with raspberry extract added. I bought one of each. They have lots of semi dry and dry wines too but if you're a sweet wine lover, they have things for you too. The tasting room is small, in the back of the house, with stools to perch on for your tasting. They have a lovely patio with string lights if the weather is agreeable. If you find yourself in Spring Grove, take a ride down a country road to this winery.

I partook in the wine tasting which was very good and the staff was very friendly and easy to talk to (which I find often makes or breaks wine tasting experiences) The wine itself does seem on the pricier end for what I'm used to where I think the average bottle here goes for over $20. But there are also member and subscription types of services to take advantage of discounts. I'm not entirely sure if they have relationships with food vendors, but they didn't have many food option in the main location itself when we were there. The food options that I saw were prepackaged charcuterie packs, so I would keep that in mind for your visit. All in all a very nice winery spot and would recommend even if wine isn't typically your drink of choice.

We were out somewhat in this direction, and there was a Meetup group going here, so we thought to check it out as it's rare we ever go to a winery as it's normally out of the way, more likely of an occurrence when on a vacation. We took some crazy back roads from where we were in western Howard County, through Carroll, & into eastern Frederick County, where Black Ankle is. We went to the bar inside to get wines. I got a white wine; I think Chardonnay, and I think my girlfriend got a sweeter Rose or something like that. Both were delicious, but we preferred our own more. We sat outside in a nice patio area. We were in the hot Sun on that sunny day, but that was cool with me. We learned of a tour going on, which we got in on. The tour guide who wore an Italian flag bowtie was entertaining and informative. We walked around the vineyard, going inside the cooled storage areas, centrifuge area where the wine is mixed, etc. We even saw some of the old wines they had made from years earlier. We saw sheep dogs, which protect the vineyard from pests, which were cute. Overall, this is a high quality winery with plenty of nice outside & inside seating.

We chose to book a scheduled rideshare there and back. There is free parking and the winery opens at 10 am we were able to walk the grounds and interior winery until our reservation. Our visit was fairly a warm day so it was nice to have the fan but overall you are shielded from the sun and able to enjoy an interior/exterior atmosphere. There was a little food debris on the chairs/floor but not messy and the cabana was very neatly designed and furnished. The staff is very courteous and attentive with Matt being our guide through the available wine offerings and accommodating our menu requests. He provided amazing service and recommendations that really made our visit special. Our reservation was for three hours which is more than enough time to taste the wines, enjoy the menu and purchase wines after. We enjoyed the red wine flight, a complimentary glass of their 2025 Rosé, and rose sangria as well as starters of hummus and Caesar salad and pizzas. The chef was accommodating to our party for a request for no diary which we really appreciated. The Caesar salad was crisp and savory and the hummus was earthy and filling. My favorite tasting was the rosé and the Cabernet Sauvignon and I love their wide range of offerings. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend reservations.
