The work was not done by a lawyer, but a legal assistant. There were spelling errors, delays, poor communication and failure to mail documents. On one invoice was a 30 minute charge to mail a letter. Maybe they walked to the mailbox??? The final straw was this letter. There is no more money in the estate. Fitzwater received over $20,000 for the guardianship and simple probate. They were paid from the estate. The conversation with Jonathon today involved him telling my husband that Oregon Law states that legal fees were to be paid before other creditors. My husband was NEVER informed of this law and paid outstanding medical bills with the little amount that was left in the estate. Jonathon also stated that "he talked with the partners about waiving the unpaid invoice and they declined". Unreal, the firm got over 20K for the "work" in the case. Do not hire them unless you have unlimited funds.

I asked him for a referral because I was getting screwed by this car insurance and he pointed me to him and said to tell him that he sent me to him. And he took over $2300 out of my settlement for 7 1/2 hours of work. This guy represents the greed that Bernie Sanders is trying to combat. This guy represents the 1% through and through. The whole process took an entire year and every time I tried contacting him he wasn't available and he never would return my calls (except for the rare few times). I was just wanting more information with what was going on and he could barely do that for me and he thinks he deserves to take as much as he did. Oh, and I almost forgot. They had actually billed me wrong the first time! They tried to charge me 30% when we agreed that he would be paid by the hour. So I had to let them know so they could fix it. And then when I came in to pick up my check I politely told the receptionist that yes, I did agree to pay this hourly pay rate but I felt that it was really unfair and then she just got really hostile and mean. I was just asking for some compassion from her and to have the courtesy to listen to my complaint. My Girlfriend was in the bathroom which is right by the receptionists desk and when she came out we left and when we got outside she commented on how mean spirited she was. All I could think about was how I couldn't believe she wouldn't even take the time of day to hear my complaint out with how much I was paying them for basically doing nothing. Listen to me, find yourself a better-hearted lawyer who won't take advantage of you. He's just as bad as the insurance company who didn't want to pay for my car when the accident was found to be 0% my fault.
