Working with Guvertz Menashe was terrible. My attorney was Tiffany Jensen. I found her to be untrustworthy, unhelpful and unprofessional. Her kid would be yelling in the background of phone calls. She worked from London. I feel like she would tell me stuff to get me to do what she wanted me to do. Sometimes she'd tell me contradictory statements like "your case is difficult and nuanced" one day, and "this is a pretty simple case and I've been doing this for a long time" another day which made me not have any trust in her. I felt stuck because finding a lawyer was difficult and I didn't want to be without one. I stayed with her because I was scared to be without a lawyer. I think I would have been better off alone than with Tiffany though. I feel like I let my son down by hiring her. It was a truly traumatic experience working with her. I regret hiring her every single day and will regret it for the rest of my life. I brought these issues up to one of the Firm's partners, Katie Goss. Katie denied any wrongdoing. She offered me a $3,000 discount off of my almost $30,000 bill/payments. At the same time, it was requested I sign a nondisclosure that would have prevented me from writing reviews or sharing my experience in any way. I did end up eventually finding a different lawyer at a different firm towards the end of my case. Best decision of my life. At this other firm, I felt like I was treated with respect and honesty in a way that I did not at all feel with Guvertz Menashe. These guys are okay at what they do. However, they are extremely expensive. Estimate the worst case scenario of what you think it may cost, then add 10k. I feel they charge way too much $$. Every email, basic question, $300 charge. They prepared a judgement change for me and it was riddled with errors. Appeared they used a template without generating the doc based on me specifically. My husband called yesterday for a consult for representation. He already filed for contempt on multiple violations his ex had, as well as filed a modification to the existing court order. His ex and her attorney had filed a response to the modification with statements that aren't true, (he has documented evidence filed in the contempt case that proves otherwise), thus she perjured herself. My husband was told he'd get a call back, but didn't. He called again today, and again didn't get a call back. Frustrating when we saw all the great reviews on Avvo and google. Apparently, their spiffy website, (it was also one of the reasons he chose to contact Gevurtz Menashe), gets more attention than potential clients who need help. *thumbs down* read more

An attorney in this firm represented my minor son in a dissolution of marriage case. This attorney was provided a report from a nationally recognized PsyD expert in Child Abuse that indicated a DSM diagnosis of Child Psychological Abuse (V995.51). In my opinion, the attorney is a "mandatory reporter" as defined in Oregon Child Abuse reporting laws. My understanding is, only DHS has the authority to investigate and make determinations regarding abuse. That, mandatory reporters must "immediately" report to DHS if there is a reasonable belief abuse has occurred. I have no evidence a referral was ever made to DHS regarding the determination in the experts report. And thus, this firm may have violated Oregon statute regarding mandatory reporting. read more

If you like giving all your money to a law firm and get NO RESULTS, then this is the firm for you. They will not fight for your rights. They don't care about fathers. They don't listen to you. They try to bully you into seeing things you their way. They don't enforce following the laws that govern family law. The spend/waste time with back in forth chats when you have already stated your position. You are given one attorney then keep getting pasted down to cheaper and less experienced attorneys. We had a great reference for this firm and it has left us stressed, disappointed in the representation, and wondering what they ever did to accomplish anything. The situation we are in is not good and partly due to the fact they would never stand up and fight against all the wrong doing. They kept saying it will come. WELL IT NEVER CAME and now we just want to be rid of the less than desirable lawyer we have and the whole thing. This has been the worst representation I have ever seen. The attorney DOES NOT listen to you and leaves you feeling stressed and upset. While everyone is very professional, TWILL NOT FIGHT FOR YOU. Also all they did was dance around the issues no real work was ever done. This law firm is bad and preying on your money and innocence. I wish I could take out an ad and warn all of Portland and Seattle to stay away. They are $$$ wolves in sheep's clothing. They should be sued for not practicing the law. Do not choose this law firm for your divorce. Shawn Menashe was supposed to be my attorney. He handed me off to an "associate", Shannon Hall, who did not know what she was doing. Keep looking. You can do better. I did all the side work and received no follow through, when struggling to obtain what was rightfully mine. I complied fully with my stipulations after the divorce was finalized, and when I asked for help, I was talked down to, and ignored. I was in an urgent situation and needed representation. I had contact with another lawyer in this firm years ago and she was too busy. After hearing my situation, they recommended Kathy Root. She is a "top lawyer' (most expensive) and I retained her. In hindsight, I should have shopped around, but was new to this experience and was frankly in a panic. I fired Kathy after 5 months and nearly $30,000 spent. She was completely inconsistent, sometimes not responding to emails for several days, even weeks. Follow through was unpredictable and advice was sometimes inaccurate. Significant mistakes were made through the case, and we ended up resolving most of our issues in mediation. My newly hired lawyer is perplexed by some of the work that was done (or not done) and it has taken more money and time to rectify these issues. I now know what it is like to have a true advocate for my situation, something I never felt with Kathy Root and Gevurtz Menashe. read more

I went to Steven Zipper from Gevurtz Menashe law firm with a simple probate for my mother's house. This is a probate that the lawyer that I switched to charged me $3,000.00. Steven Zipper had my bill up to $12,969.20 in Dec 2016 a few months after I fired him. I fired him when I discovered the bill was $10,164.30 in Oct 2016. He kept adding to the bill even after I fired him. My new lawyer told me to just pay the bill and write him off as a lesson learned. There was one issue with filing taxes on my mother's house sale and Steven spent half an hour on the phone with my accountant then Steven stated that he was not an expert in taxes so he could not recommend filing a 706 form. I did not check my invoices each month because I trusted Steven. He seemed like he was there for me when I talked to him in his office on the first interview. I only met with him once in person and he stated that I did not need to pay him until probate was over. It only took four and a half months to rack up these bills. read more

Potential client, I want to make clear to you that I am only speaking of those lawyers whom I have had personal contact with, but first some advice... if you are looking for a lawyer to protect you from a narcissist don't take the lawyers word for it that they understand them. Research questions to ask the lawyer & let them prove that they really know how to protect you, because your future life depends on the lawyer you hire. My experience with Gevurtz Menashe cost me in ways that cant be undone, but could all have been avoided with proper understanding, preparation & professionalism. I needed protection, I trusted Mark Barzda, & then Tiffany Jensen a year ago to handle my case properly because I had been abused by a narcissist for years & I was scared of him. Within 4 months they totally blotched positive progress from happening, & they didn't follow through on their words, nor have the time to make the case important as they were overloaded with so many other cases. I contacted Shawn Menashe of Gevurtz Menashe twice with a lot of solid evidence of what had been happening, & also witnesses who had heard Mark & Tiffany in person, I was handed off to someone else & then turned away through emails. I went to Mark because he told me he understood narcissists & their tactics, if he had he wouldn't have had me file a restraining order without evidence to help against the narcs lies & he would have known that the narc would persuade our adult kids to side with him & that the teenage kids would be manipulated into signing a paper that would give the narc full custody without the court even looking into the truth. I asked Tiffany to take over when I saw that Mark was way too busy, her words were so empowering but all her promises to deal with all the narc related issues became forgotten as she also was way too busy. My counselor & group of bible study friends said "fire Tiffany!!" So I did, but then I had to hire a new lawyer & this was an ordeal in itself for her to get caught up, & her experience with Tiffany on getting the info needed, & finding out all that Tiffany didn't do right for my case added even more problems & cost. I needed a lawyer & company that I could trust, a company who would stand up for me & protect me, I told Tiffany several times that she wasn't following through on her word & that I didn't feel protected, it didn't change anything. Divorcing a narcissist required professionals, my experience with Gevurtz Menashe was not professional. Their website is loaded with awesome words asking you to trust them & that they will value you & make sure your experience lives up to their words... here are some of their words: "it's critical to have an advocate who understands the intricacies of the law and knows how to communicate their interests. When the dust settles, clients want the best possible outcome and this is exactly what Gevurtz Menashe provides" & " At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if the case is large or small, simple or complex; we help our clients protect what is important." & "At Gevurtz Menashe, we pride ourselves in treating each client with the highest degree of care and respect." Gevurtz Menashe either needs to remove their misleading words from their site or they need to train their team how to protect their clients from narcissist's & their manipulative tactics. ****Do the research, your lawyer & YOU will HAVE TO stand up to the lies the narc will tell, stay ahead of them with evidence, NOT OPTIONAL. Detach emotionally as best you can from the trauma, know that you are not alone, watch youtube for advice & healing. *GM also charged me more money for those 4 months I was with them than my non-GM lawyer charged me in my 10 months with her. read more

My experience with Gevurtz Menashi has always produced a positive outcome for me. I have utilized the services of Robert Demary for several years. He represented me in a very contentious divorce proceeding and a subsequent dispute regarding the ongoing spousal support I had been paying. The issue ended in a decision by the Oregon State Appeals Court which was in my favor. The end result for my case was a complete elimination of all further spousal support payments, a savings to me which would have exceeded over $500,000. I found Bob to be very responsive to my calls, always very well prepared and an excellent litigator, particularly during courtroom proceedings. I found his hourly billing to be reasonable. Many times I was not billed for simple phone calls or email correspondence which has not been the case with other law firms I have retained. Several of my friends have utilized Bob's legal services, always with a positive outcome. I highly recommend Bob Demary for any legal matters, particularly with regard to divorce or other domestic relations issues.
