Adam's Action Figures & Comics ( Adam Sabol ) in Rootstown, Ohio…read more Located right off Route 76 and Route 14 in Rootstown, Ohio, Adam's Action Figures is one of those magical places that looks modest from the outside, but once you walk in, it's like stepping into a wonderland of toys, comics, and nostalgia. This shop has something for everyone. I've had the pleasure of watching this shop grow from the very beginning. In fact, I was Adam Sabol's first customer when he opened, and my dollar bill still hangs on the wall to this day. It's been amazing to watch how far the shop has come -- it's a full-blown collector's paradise. Every inch of the store is filled with something cool -- from carefully displayed, carded figures lining the walls to bins and bags of treasure waiting to be dug through. The chaos is part of the charm, and yet somehow everything feels just right. If you're into DC, Marvel, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe, Star Wars, or pretty much any toy line that ever meant something, odds are you'll find it here. Adam himself is one of the best parts of the experience. He's incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the hobby, always down to chat about comics, toys, or the state of the industry. He gets new comics in weekly and is constantly updating his stock with fresh CGC-graded books and recent collections -- so the inventory is always evolving. Beyond toys and comics, the shop also carries nostalgic items like t-shirts, lunchboxes, comic supplies, and more. Whether you're coming from Akron or making a stop on your way to Youngstown, it's absolutely worth the detour. Adam is also a fixture on the convention circuit and someone we always look forward to seeing at NEO ComicCon. Be sure to swing by the shop on May 3rd for Free Comic Book Day -- it's a perfect time to experience everything the shop has to offer. @neocomiccon @adamsactionfiguresandcomics In short, Adam's Action Figures isn't just a store -- it's an experience, and one that keeps getting better every time you visit.

Tons of comics, and a nice selection of Funko Pops. But what really impressed me was their collection of action figures. I love collecting Pops and action Figures. And I could have easily dropped hundreds here. If I had planned ahead and brought more money, I probably would have. If you are an action figure collector, or a comic book collector, this is a great place for you to check out.

All American Cards and Comics in Boardman is a fantastic extension of the Warren location--think of it less as a carbon copy and more like Warren's little brother with its own distinct charm. Housed in a convenient strip mall, it's a bit more compact, but that actually works in its favor. The layout is streamlined, clean, and incredibly well-organized, making it easy to browse whether you're hunting for back issues, the latest comics, Magic: The Gathering singles, or gaming supplies. While it may not have the same size as the Warren location, this shop holds its own with a focused selection and top-notch customer service. Every major purchase I've made from owner Greg Bartholomew has come from this very store, and the quality has always been outstanding. Most recently, I picked up a pristine copy of All-Star Comics featuring the first appearance of Power Girl. One major highlight is the adjacent gaming annex. Instead of cramming tables into the retail space, they've dedicated a separate area next door for gaming. This keeps the main store open, easy to navigate, and free of clutter--perfect for collectors and casual browsers alike. Whether you're a Magic player looking for rare cards, a comic collector searching for that elusive issue, or just someone who appreciates a well-run local shop, this location is definitely worth a visit. And don't forget--they're always buying Magic cards and comics too, so bring your extras! Greg Bartholomew

Trip Review 15 All American Cards and Comics…read more All American Cards and Comics (Downtown Warren Location) If you grew up in Northeast Ohio in the '90s and were into Magic: The Gathering, you probably already know this place--or at least the vibe it gives off. All American Cards and Comics in downtown Warren isn't just a comic shop--it's a piece of hometown history, built and maintained by the unofficial mayor of Warren himself, Greg Bartholomew. Though it's changed locations slightly over the years, it's still planted firmly in the heart of downtown Warren, and the magic (no pun intended) has never left. If I were to open my dream comic shop, it would look just like this one: a charming old brick façade opening into a space packed wall-to-wall with everything a fan could dream of--Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon, action figures, Funko Pops, D&D manuals, tabletop games, and comics galore. And we're not just talking modern comics--this place is loaded with back issues from the Bronze Age, Silver Age, and even Gold, not to mention pristine wall books in glass cases that will stop you in your tracks. The Alex Ross prints decorating the walls are just the cherry on top. If you ever get the chance to peek into the back room--do it. It's a treasure trove of books that haven't hit the shelves yet or are prepped for upcoming cons. Greg knows his stuff and keeps the shop stocked and vibrant. New comic book day every Wednesday? Yep, they've got that too. All American Cards and Comics in Warren is a cornerstone of comic culture in the Mahoning Valley, a must-visit for anyone who loves comics, games, and that old-school shop atmosphere where community still matters. And once you've stopped here, make sure to head about a half hour over to their Youngstown location too--it's worth the trip. Support the old guard. Visit All American.

Everything has its place, and that intentional layout creates a welcoming, relaxed vibe. One of my first suggestions when you walk in: look up. Near the front of the store, the ceiling tiles form an art gallery featuring work from artists who've come through the shop. It's a unique, personal touch that tells you right away this place is built on community and passion. Immediately to your right, there's a well-arranged selection of statues and figurines. From there, the walls guide you around the store with new books, Funko Pops, action figures, and back issues--all tastefully organized. Behind the counter, Steve showcases even more art and collectibles, with a focus on quality over quantity. When I visited, Steve had just picked up a gorgeous Silver Age collection featuring Avengers, X-Men, Captain America, and more. I snapped some photos, but honestly, pictures still don't do the shop justice. You have to see it in person to really appreciate the atmosphere. Each Wednesday brings in new comics, and there's also a great selection of back issues (very well organized) plus comic book supplies. Steve's been in the game since the '90s, so he clearly knows his stuff. Hazel's Heroes could be the perfect first stop on a mini comic book crawl around the Canton area--there are three or four other local shops nearby. And don't forget to say hi to Steve and his wife Amy; they're warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. And of course, mark your calendar for May 3rd--Free Comic Book Day--when Hazel's will be hosting special guests and events. Definitely worth checking out. NEO ComicCon

They were having a 30cent sale on all the $1 comics. He had a plan to go through as many boxes as possible to gather as many missing issues as possible. And we did pretty good. He was able to get over 200 comics for an amazing deal. We finished up a couple of series with issues he'd been looking for for a while. Inside is cramped when there are so many people taking advantage of the sales, but there are just an unbelievable number of comics here. Did I mention just how many there are? A Lot. And I just want to say thank you that they allowed us shoppers to use the rest room to wash hands and use the facilities. When you're there for almost 4 hours, that'd definitely a bonus.

This shop has row upon row of packed comic book sleeves, lovingly labeled and categorized by series. They pretty much have you covered from Gold to Silver age comic, as well as a wide range of modern issues. I was looking for some Silver Age Fantastic Four, and they did have some key issues in this area, but I felt some of there key issues were just bit overpriced compared to what I could find on EBay for a similar grade. However, some of their other Silver Age Fantastic Fours were tight in the sweet spot... or as Luke Cage would say, "Sweet Christmas!" The also offer some really good deals on Funko Pops, and I witnessed a blister game of Magic the Gathering being played in the shop. All of this underscores the fact that this comic book shop is a gem and should not be missed. The next time I'm in the area, I'm certain to stop in for my fix of all things comic book fandom.

It's just one of those places where the nostalgia hits you like a wave. Every aisle is filled with treasures from your childhood: toys you had, toys you wanted but couldn't afford, and even some you totally forgot existed until they were right there in front of you. I told a friend recently that if I had a million dollars to spend only on toys, I'd still leave that store with a wishlist. It's that packed with incredible finds. They have toys dating all the way back to the 1920s, through the golden eras of the '50s, '60s, '70s, and into the '80s and '90s--the stuff we now lovingly call "vintage" or "retro." From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Wars to Marvel Comics, classic board games, and massive collectible statues, the selection is wild. I'm doing a couple of photo dumps just to show people how deep the nostalgia runs there. It's more than a store--it's an experience. If you're within driving distance, I highly recommend making a day of it. Explore the beautiful town of Canal Fulton, grab some food, and then spend time walking through this amazing shop. You won't regret it. And if you're not local--good news--they ship nationwide (possibly even worldwide). Right now they've got a spring sale: 20% off most items, and even 10% off statues and busts. Plus, they're gearing up for a huge Free Comic Book Day event, with a block party, vendors, and performers. Definitely worth checking out. Keep an eye out for flyers about NEO Con while you're there, and block out some time--you're going to need it!

And--Don't touch things if you're going to place them back anywhere other than where they belong. This is a vintage toy store. Think of it like a museum of sorts, but one where you actually have the privilege to own the pieces. Be respectful. All of those bad reviews sound like people who don't understand that... Anyway...I ordered online so I'm reviewing the online experience--which was great. Packaging must have been good because my dad got his G.I. Joe in perfect condition. The owner, or the owner's son, emailed me personally immediately after I ordered to simply check to make sure the address was correct because my address and the shipping address were different--so they obviously genuinely care about their items and offering quality service to customers. And my dad, as a child, actually had the exact G.I. Joe I bought for him. He said when he opened the package it immediately unlocked childhood memories he'd forgotten about. He said it was the best birthday gift he'd gotten. And nothing beats getting your dad a good birthday gift. (Except maybe buying your parents a house, but, I'm not quite there yet.) You can't trust buying a G.I. Joe from just anyone/anywhere. This place has a G.I. Joe specialist who inspects the figures before they're available for sale. That means you're not getting some counterfeit replica pieces sold to you like you might elsewhere. I would absolutely order again from this place, and hope I have the opportunity to. I'll be checking back every now and then for future G.I. Joes that my dad doesn't have yet.
