I have been in the field for about 4 months now and I am currently doing service calls for a local company on my own in just under 3 of those months of being in the field. A huge part of this success I owe to all the teachers there at TCAT. The first 8 months are learning about the refrigeration cycle and electrical side. While the first half of the program is focused more towards book learning it is essential in order for the students to understand what it is we deal with and safety involving this trade. Mr.Alvey was my primary teacher for the first half of the program as well as Mr.Beckman. Mr.Alvey shows he cares about his students and their progress in moving forward with learning this essential trade. Showing up ON TIME, a good work ethic, self study, and respect are key in doing well in this program. The same exact things an employer expects out of you. If you actually try in class Mr.Alvey will support you in every way he can. The second half of the program is run by Mr.Derek Brown. This is primarily shop/lab work. This is where we get to put what we learned to the test and continue our learning with more hands on training. The shop is set up for use to troubleshoot many different types of problems that are seen day to day in the field. Safety is a priority of Mr.Brown and you can ensure he takes it seriously. This man knows what he is talking about so it truly pays off to pay attention and ask questions. For some of these previous reviews it really seems to me we are getting two very different experiences out of this course. It truly sounds to me like some people don't show up and don't care enough to research/study at home. To those people I say good luck in the real world and have fun treating a potential employer the same way you treat this course. I can promise you it won't last long with the type of effort you're putting in. 10 out of 10 will recommend to anyone looking to get into the trades. I use knowledge I learned at this school every single day and I am extremely grateful for every teacher in this program.

I attended a two day Photoshop course here. It was a virtual…read moreclass taught online by an instructor who in my case was in Atlanta. You communicate with live chat and are wearing a headset with a microphone to talk to them as well. My first day, I tried two different headsets and the mics did not work. Second day my headset mic did work first try, that was much easier. My biggest complaint is that the monitors you use (one for the instructor view, one to work on beside it) are too small for what you're doing. I realize my eye sight isn't great, but it's a Photoshop class. You are editing photographs with very detailed improvements, a small monitor doesn't cut it. I understand that many other cases wouldn't really need large monitors - but photo editing and graphic design, come on. For what you pay, you should expect top notch technology. The instructor was very good, and I did enjoy the training. The facility is modern and clean, but no break time areas in their suite, but the building itself had a lobby and adjacent deli. They get one point for baking warm cookies every afternoon, but then the point is half deducted because there's this sign with a cartoon cookie monster that says take one and leave the rest for everyone else. I get it, but just seemed a little off putting. But I guess I'd be more upset if some joker had come through and eaten all the cookies.

Our experiences at New Horizons in Nashville and their corporate office in West Conshohocken, PA…read morehas a tremendous opportunity to improve. The relationship starts out well. The person who signs you up at New Horizon, you are equivalent to a sale/commission for them. As is normal in business, things are well at the beginning. One stream of revenue that New Horizon receives is money from the respective states through different work programs i.e. people unemployed, people who are veterans etc. The reality and the weaknesses voiced for a minimum of two years that have gone unanswered. Let's take the PMP [project manager professional] course that New Horizon offers. In any service, you have quality metrics. There are different teachers who teach this course. New Horizons does not have an maintain metrics that all teachers teach the same coursework to students. Despite students sharing this, students remained ignored. The PMP book, 6th edition, is a reference book, it is not a study guide. New Horizons used to provide a Crosswinds Study Guide, which they discontinued in mid 2018. New Horizons did not replace the study guide. Students are studying for a very difficult test -- a study guide would be needed. To date, New Horizons Nashville will not address this concern that students have raised. We, students whose fees are paid by the State of Tennessee are ignored. This even includes being ignored by the owner of this independent New Horizons Nashville location, Shawn Gilbride. Mr. Gilbride sent an email stating to remove his name from the email dialogue bringing up students concerns. Shawn Gilbride does not respond to emails. Shawn Gilbride does not respond to voicemail -- ever from students. Shouldn't this be communicated up front? Should the State of Tennessee know this? The goal of New Horizons Nashville and New Horizons other locations is to support students with the current and applicable resources to pass the respective exams we're preparing for. The message is clear. New Horizons and New Horizons Nashville cares about their revenue -- load in the respective students to receive the money from the State of Tennessee and respective states. All of us have to be accountable to someone. All programs have metrics. This is severely broken with the New Horizons corporate structure. There are so many layers of executives and leaders, that no one is concerned. How do we as students know this? Because we contacted the corporate office -- it took us about six weeks of reaching out to the New Horizons team in West Conshohocken, PA. Most of the people there were more lost than we were. Finally after six weeks, we were connected to someone [we can get this name and number from our records] who was trying to get a message to New Horizons Nashville. Do you know that goal still was not to remedy the problem. What are the problems? 1. The teachers who teach for New Horizons are not consistent, with minimal metrics with what PMP students are taught. 2. New Horizons has saved money be removing the study guide, and not replacing it with a new study guide. The accompanying slender Agile book is not a study guide either. It's a supplement. Thank you New Horizons for the lack of support here in preparing students for an exam. 3. A primary partner of New Horizons is Pinnacle Professional Development LLC of New Baltimore, Michigan. New Horizons Nashville doesn't care that some of the teachers don't even mention the Pinnacle partnership and resource to some of the students. There's no login. There's no return call. There's nothing. So -- no study guide. And -- now no Pinnacle resources to study for the exam. Well -- what about those who did receive the Pinnacle login. The answers to many of the questions are not up to date. Point blank. Students over the past two years have provided this information with screens shots to Shawn Gilbride [the owner of New Horizons in Nashville, TN] and the corporate office of New Horizons in West Conshohocken, PA, and to Brian Salk, the owner of Pinnacle Professional Development. New Horizons and New Horizons Nashville is in the education, training and certification business of teaching people how to pass exams. It goes without saying that, they, New Horizons, uses metrics themselves. They do not -- if it does not relate to their own immediate revenue -- much of which comes from the State of Tennesseee and the other respective states throughout the United States. It's not the responsibility of students preparing for an exam, in this case, the PMP exam -- to inform New Horizons or Pinnacle Professional Development of what's outdated in their materials. We did! The overall ambiance was nice and peaceful, allowing me to do my own thing at my own pace. I felt very comfortable and not as though I was inconveniencing or bothering anyone. The facility itself is clean and maintained from what I could see or note from the outside. I wasn't sure if I had access to the inside of the building so I didn't bother entering. The turf area, In particular the lacrosse field, was in excellent condition, which made my workout and experience even more enjoyable.

There appears to be little regard for students' feelings or personal circumstances, which is especially troubling in a creative learning environment where encouragement and respect are essential. Students attend Nossi to learn, grow, and develop their artistic abilities not to feel singled out or discouraged. When a classroom becomes hostile or uncomfortable, it affects students' motivation, confidence, and overall willingness to attend. No student should feel unwelcome or hesitant to come to class due to the behavior of an instructor. If this is the standard being upheld, it raises important questions about the values the school promotes and the environment it strives to provide for those investing their time, trust, and tuition. A positive, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere should be a priority, and I hope these concerns are taken seriously for the benefit of current and future students.

The photos on the website are extremely minimal and outdated. We all paid for them blindly. $700++ to live in a crumbling building with roaches, bedbugs, black mold, no hot water, broken elevators, no parking, and NO DOORS ON YOUR ROOM. oh and also they sold a building to another school (without informing tenants) and since there has been endless catcalling, littering, car break-ins, theft, and firearms being present. Also their solution to the black mold growing in the a/c units (that do not work btw, in summer the rooms reach 90 degrees easily) is just locking the door to the unit so you can't see it! They do not care about all of the bugs and mess, in fact they blame you for it! Also they won't tell you this online but if you have the 6 person room, two rooms are in absolute darkness (i swore this is illegal). Now on to the actual school. Instructors are actually quite good. You do a whole lot of nothing in your four hours but thats not horrible. For most programs, they require you to print and mount your projects. Recently, Cyrus decided our printers weren't making him enough money ($1 per page btw) and sold them! So there is no longer anywhere to print on campus unless you ask the front desk. I'm sure not being able to print your projects was just a necessary budget cut so Cyrus can have ANOTHER tesla or porsche (he has multiple) You will just go to class and go home because there are no clubs and no events on campus (also they buy expired food for the vending machines AND took away our fork privileges for no real reason ). Despite all advertising, here are no mental health or general health resources available ON campus, the "therapist" is never there. If you have any issue with the school and try to bring it up, the only way to get through is say you're dropping out. Almost every person I know has dropped out or has considered it frequently. Financial aid office WILL lose your payments and try to charge you twice and say you never sent the money, they will lose any and all paperwork, and honestly they have no idea who anyone at this school is because they have charged students multiple times, made duplicates of students, and more. To conclude, (although I could keep going all day) save your money and go somewhere else. Vol state probably has better programs for a better price. Or at the very least, live in an off campus apartment (but hey be my guest if you don't want to keep your car and you love bugs crawling on you while you sleep) 1/10
