The Verrazano Room also has its own bathroom (not all rooms do). I read in some reviews that the hotel lacks air-conditioning but this room had a window A/C unit that kept the room cool on an 87 degree day. The WiFi was fast and dependable, and the breakfast and coffee basic but good. Other reviews have noted that only bar soap is provided, and that is the case, so be sure to bring your own shampoo/conditioner, etc. Finally, Moe, the proprietor, was friendly and accommodating, and provided a key to the front door so I could come and go at my leisure, which I appreciated. Nothing about the hotel is luxurious but it is great value for the money.

The location is pretty nice too, being only a few blocks from a subway entrance, so it's convenient for touring around. Definitely nothing fancy. It's your typical budget hotel with your typical budget hotel issues (slow elevator, flavorless breakfast, hard beds, etc.) with a few perks (24-hour gym with water and ice dispensers, diverse clientele) and also the non-typical issues (really bad smell in the hallways and elevators, as well as a problem with the AC/heater unit where you can't just turn it OFF--there's always at least a fan going automatically--so I had to unplug ours to avoid letting it dry out the room and get us sick). We paid like $300/night in early December, and I'm not sure if that rate is particularly good or bad, but it worked for what we needed. We had another two nights at a different hotel farther uptown for a wedding there, and that was more of a boutique hotel with more aesthetic amenities anyway, but this one gets the job done. You are one block from the subway. The hotel is in the middle of Brooklyn's busiest Chinatown. My colleagues and I went our own separate ways for food. One focused on street carts. Another had Korean corn dogs. Two did takeout. You can get parking for $30 a day in a garage across the street and they have an elevator that connects you to the hotel. My room was clean. The cleaning girls emptied the trash and replaced the towels after one night. Room size is average for a NYC hotel room. The bed was comfy and is a large queen. Breakfast is free and is a continental selection of cereal, pastries, toast, and fruit. There is coffee and tea available in the lobby throughout the day. The staff is amazing, from the front desk, the cleaning team, and garage attendant.

We were surprised my son smashed a bed bug at 2am crawling out from the pillow. When we report to the front desk and ask for room change . She did not seem very much concerned and I told her this is not a small issue ! We did get a room change without any compensation. And we talked to the front desk again next day , again not much concerned and I ask do they did any thing to it . Well said she said they found nothing and did get inspection . I was upset they did not inform or follow through the case and I have to ask them to make sure future travelers will not get bed bugs experience. She thought was some travelers brought in the bed bugs. In fact early on I booked for staying here next month for 8 night and I will definitely cancel soon after this bed bug issue.!!! Yelp said you get get a bottle of wine when you check In with Yelp. The front desk said they are not aware of it at all!' Lots of miscommunication with their top management!!

I clarified and repeated the numbers back to her to make sure we both understood the rate--especially since she appeared distracted, talking on the phone and with another employee during the process. Based on that information, I agreed to book the third room. However, when I later saw the final bill, the charges for that third room totaled close to $890, which was nowhere near the price I was quoted. I was never told that the nightly rates fluctuated drastically from day to day, and this lack of communication directly affected my decision to book the extra room. When I contacted Hilton Guest Assistance, every response focused solely on explaining how their rate structure can change nightly... something I already understood. What was not addressed was the actual issue: I was misquoted the rate at check‑in, and that misinformation led me to make a decision I would not have made otherwise. As someone who travels frequently with students and books multiple rooms at Hilton/Hampton properties each year, this experience has caused me to seriously question the brand's transparency and reliability. Being provided correct information at check‑in should be a basic expectation, and Hilton's unwillingness to acknowledge the misquote or offer a meaningful resolution was extremely disappointing. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously. Guests deserve accurate, distraction‑free communication, especially when making decisions that significantly affect their stay and budget.
