I love Hyatt consistency. All hotels I stayed at are in great location. This one was not an exception. Walking distance to lots of city attractions, great personnel, clean, beautiful view on 36th floor. I was a bit worried about the noise situation since I saw the earplugs and our room was above the generators. Maybe it was the 10th floor, or we were so tired of everything what the city was offering, but it wasn't loud. There is a charging station on the 1st floor, tea and water station. Hyatt Place located close to Empire State Building. It's the most vertical Hyatt Place I've been to, 26 floors in a narrow building on a narrow 36th St. Simple lobby with some seats and the breakfast area in the back. Small fitness room in the basement typical size for these type of hotels. The terrace on the top floor has a pretty good view of the Empire State Building. Got a King room and it was typical NYC sized, so smaller than a typical Hyatt Place room in most locations. Still a little more spacious the Hyatt Grand Central that I stayed in. This hotel gives you earplugs, and street noise is definitely noticeable. Hotel room decor not super old, but not particularly new either. Decent sized shower in the bathroom. The bed is too soft for my liking. AC worked pretty well. Hotel breakfast was good. Got eggs, meat, hashbrown and pancakes for the hotel food, along with cut and whole fruit with yogurt. This place also holds you luggage for free on departure day, unlike other NYC hotels I've to that charge a fee for luggage storage. read more

I was charged a pet deposit thinking it was refundable as long as everything was left clean. I don't leave my 7-pound little dog alone she has never had an accident anywhere. When I got home, I see a bill for $100.00 plus $20.00 for parking when I checked these fees where not discussed with me. There is also a methadone clinic right next door so there are drug addicts and homeless people all around the hotel. read more

The hotel itself doesn't quite meet the Hyatt experience expectations, but it is a decent safe place to sleep at on 36th street. The street itself is a bit grungy. For a sec I worried that I got bedbugs from the hotel. I had one bite on my back, so not a mosquito, but after a few days there were no more bites, so could've been something else. Free breakfast bar in the mornings and water/tea station in the lobby was helpful in keeping me hydrated 24/7. I spent very little actual time at the hotel, so can't speak on other amenities. read more

If you're provided earplugs here upon check-in without question, it's for verrrrry good reason (no, not just because of any next-door shenanigans lol). Not my first time staying at a hotel in NYC so I know that sirens and car honking can be heard in hotel rooms around these parts. However, at this particular hotel I was given a high-floor room facing W 35th St, which pretty much has an open-air window view. Consequently noises from outside were amplified and heard much louder in the room than expected (very thin walls as well?) and it was a bit of an annoyance abruptly waking up at 2 am one night due to a *stream* of *blaring* sirens. Even if you're not a light sleeper, the room itself wouldn't appeal much to you either. Some of the flattest pillows that I've had at a hotel and the small refrigerator was frustratingly difficult to open and close. Sandpaper-tier towels. I suppose to not rate this hotel 1 star there is a roofed terrace available to all guests that has alright sights of the city. Elevated close-up view of the Empire State Building. The terrace has some dining seating and one night I brought up some food here to have a low-key dinner. Ehh not my fave hotel that I've stayed at in NYC, not by a long shot. We landed in New York pretty late and checked in the hotel almost at midnight. We still wanted to get something to eat and thought that that would be a struggle. But we should have known better. What a wonderful location to explore the Manhattan area! There were quite a few options available nearby even at that time. We even walked to Times Square from the hotel after midnight... That's how close it is! We splurged a little and got a room with a view of the empire state building. Didn't regret it! You can also go to their terrace for great views, if your room doesn't have a view. Easy cabs available on the street outside for venturing out a little bit. Loved it! read more

The only negative I have is in regards to the elevator. We were on the 2nd floor, thank goodness. We were there 5 days and only once did I take the elevator down. The day we were checking out, we never could catch an elevator down. We had to lug our luggage down the stairwell. Just keep that in mind. If you have a room on a higher floor, it should be easier to catch an elevator. read more

I am a globalist member and have into many Hyatt hotels around the world. However, this particular Hyatt had NO name tags or anything identifying them as employees. I called the hotel 48 hrs before about checking in early despite my request and going to property at 1130 am making the same request. OUR room still was NOT ready at 3:40 PM. First time that ever happened. Also valet parking per the manager Kevin Fenton said that it's only for rewards not globalists level. First time I have heard of this requirement. No one mentioned that the valet service stopped at midnight. I spent additional time at midnight having to find my own parking. Disappointing and frustrating Another FIRST. Luckily we checked out ASAP as the VIBE was not welcoming and helpful and this made the visit was very STRESSFUL. NoT sure Hyatt Corporate wants its guests to have a similar experience. The location of this hotel is nice. It's near Bryant Park, the NYC Public Library and Macy's. Staff was pleasant. Our room was large for NYC. It had a king sized bed, couch, desk with chair, good sized bathroom (although the sink was cracked), safe, tiny closet and good lighting. Breakfast was included. It's passable. Don't be fooled by "we serve Starbucks." It means that you may purchase it downstairs. In the room you get pretty awful coffee. This room we had was 804. We had a great time staying here during our first-ever trip to NYC. The location is central to everything around you. Only 15 city street blocks to Times Square. At first we thought it would take forever to walk down there, but the streets are shorter apart than the avenues are. 15 min tops walk. Derek Stumphauser, Assistant General Manager, sent us a welcome email a few days before our arrival. It was the first I ever had coming from any establishment and he was quick to answer questions I had regarding our stay. The free breakfast was really delicious and the front desk, housekeeping staff were all pretty friendly. Very clean hotel and nice view of Empire State Building from our hotel window. The only downside was the configuration of the shower. There is no lip separating the shower and bathroom floor, so the floor got constantly wet because the shower head was not mounted to the sidewallls rather it was facing to the shower curtain. Overall it was an awesome experience. We will consider staying here again in the future. (Word of advice- walk down to CVS Pharmacy on corner of 5th and 39th I think or somewhere in that area and get yourself a 24 pack of drinking water for only less than $5). I recently booked this hotel from Booking.com, and everything went well. I did not have to pay immediately, but I did have to deposit $100 deposit towards the hotel. We initially paid the full amount once we were checked in for a Valentines day weekend. Everything we needed was within the rooms, we also had complementary water bottles every day of our stay. I am just so pleased with this hotel and I'll tell you why. First, it is really centrally located in a nice safe area. Second, the rooms are fairly large...for a Manhattan hotel. Okay, anywhere else in the world and it would be a small room, but for NY it's good. The whole hotel is well maintained. Wifi is free of charge and breakfast is complimentary. But the best part about this place is the staff. Everybody is super friendly and accomodating. But the best one of all is Justin. Tonight my significant other came down with the flu. I mentioned to him that I was going to CVS to get some Theraflu, and by the time I had come home he had delivered a lovely bowl of fruit with a card to the room (see photo). I mean really, now lovely is that? Justin is exactly the type of person who should be working in the hospitality business. We are definitely Hyatt customers but Justin has pretty much assured that whenever we come to the city we will be staying at this Hyatt. read more

This place isn't the worst, but it's not the best. The rooms are decent sized and the bathrooms are pretty standard. For some reason, every time I'm in the room, I start sneezing like crazy which makes me think there's something in here... I noticed my hair curler was broken after the first day of housekeeping. I have a feeling she dropped it because the metal bar broke off. I wasn't necessarily upset by it breaking but more upset that there was no acknowledgment. It's pretty hard to miss that it was broken. We are currently in the 26th floor which has sweet views of the city skyline and we have access to the roof. Was scrambling to find a room for one night due to the most unexpected turn of events on a dreadful, rainy Friday night. Everything in the neighborhood was booked. Found Hyatt online and made a reservation on my phone in 4 minutes. After a 10 minute train ride, checked-in around 10PM into a wonderful room. Price for king size room for two people was $130 plus tax=$152. Not bad for such accommodations in the center of Manhattan at the spur of the moment. Rooms are in good condition: clean, great condition of furniture, lots of sunlight, modern bathroom, comfortable & soft bedding. Complementary breakfast is from 6:30-9 weekdays, 7-10 weekends. Pretty solid, standard menu. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausages, yogurt, farmer's cheese, granola, oatmeal, doughnuts, toast, fresh fruit mix. Came down for breakfast at 9:30 and they still kept refilling the buffet style plates with freshly cooked food, so great news for those like me, who like to sleep-in and get breakfast at the last possible moment. Fresh, filling food, you won't be starving upon check out, which is at noon. Solid, courteous service. There's gym downstairs. Would recommend and will be back. read more

I had to be in NYC for business, so I booked this hotel for three nights. Mainly I chose this hotel because it was one of the few hotels marked by my company as "preferred," but also because of the location, free Wifi, and free breakfast. I booked a room with a King-sized bed, with no sofa bed and no view. Normally this room would go for $279/night, but because of my corporate rate, my company was instead paying $199/night. Either way, very reasonable rates for NYC. And I was impressed that the room had a couch, ottoman, and minifridge. LOCATION Really great location in Midtown South. Took me 12 minutes to walk to my conference location in the Theater District, 5 minutes to walk to Koreatown meeting a friend for dinner, and 2 minutes to the nearest Subway station. FREE WIFI Had no trouble streaming Netflix and YouTube videos while connected wirelessly. But on my last night, the Wifi went down, and I was told by the front desk that Time Warner was experiencing an outage in the entire block. The estimate I was given for fixing this was 30 minutes, but the Wifi still wasn't back the next morning. Not a huge deal, and not really the fault of Hyatt, but more of a minor annoyance. FREE BREAKFAST Excellent, high-quality breakfast served from 6:30-9:00 AM with fresh fruit (fruit salad, pre-cut grapefruit segments, apples, bananas, etc), yogurt, oatmeal, pastries, toast/bagels, cereal, rotating hot breakfast sandwiches and a hot breakfast entree (one day there was cinnamon French toast), juice (apple, orange, and tomato), and coffee/tea by Starbucks. See attached picture of my first breakfast: sunrise croissant (egg, mushrooms, spinach, and muenster cheese on half a croissant), ruby red grapefruit segments, a banana, and orange juice. And they have cups with lids, so I took a Tazo green tea to-go. STAFF Hotel staff were all very courteous and helpful. Many of the staff went out of their way to be friendly to me. COMPLIMENTARY ITEMS One reviewer mentioned that they don't provide free lotion like most hotels. In-room, they only provide two bars of soap (for the sink and the tub), shampoo, and conditioner--but they have a list at the front desk of free and on-loan items that they do give/loan out. (See attached pictures.) My issue the first night was that I was given only the bars of soap and the conditioner (shampoo was missing). Wasn't a big deal since I'd brought my own, but probably some sort of oversight by housekeeping. ELEVATORS Another reviewer mentioned that this hotel needs more elevators. (There are only two for 20+ floors.) Because I chose "no view," I was given a room on the second floor, which was great because I could take the stairs easily and not have to worry about waiting for an elevator. If you're not planning on spending much time in your room, I would either request "no view" or call ahead and ask for a room on a lower floor. NOISE Another reviewer also mentioned that the noise from the street is loud throughout the night. To solve this, the hotel does provide free earplugs, but I'm a super light sleeper and had no trouble once I downloaded a white noise app on my phone. If I'm ever in the city again and need a hotel to stay, I'll definitely be coming back and would recommend the same for anyone! read more

I felt like I walked into the gates of Heaven as I entered Hyatt Place... someone grabbed my bags.. lead me to the front desk, smiling gentleman behind the counter said "Welcome Maaam, let's check you in" (shit did I look that tore up?) I was offered a Sangria at the reception... and quickly checked in... Up on the elevator, it was like my fast track to peace and tranquility...... 22nd floor... I liked the antique-ish wood textures and dark tones of the hallways... The room was a breath of fresh air... ceiling to floor windows, with the most amazing view of The Empire State Building... The bed set up so you could just collapse and stare at the beautiful skyline, day and night... and glance at CNN on the huge swivel flat screen TV. All toiletries were quality, and was even given complimentary extra items that I had forgotten(silly me) The room was quiet, very quiet and peaceful... The free continental breakfast was of much higher quality than expected, the dining area very roomy. I enjoyed a spinach egg breakfast sandwich with I believe Gouda cheese, fresh fruit a variety of Starbucks Coffee and Tazo Teas included. Would I stay here again? You bet your ass I will and if you are like me, if you research the hell outta things, like me... this Hyatt Place Hotel has been looked over with a fine tooth comb.... I'm not sure why there are so many low reviews here. Yes, the elevators that service 27 floors could have been faster - or I suppose there could have been more of them - but it's not that the 2 there were are abnormally slow or anything. Free in room WiFi, small gym (lower level) and free breakfast on the main level (as is standard for Hyatt Place properties). Seems like 5 stars to me. Also a business center on the main level and a good amount of lobby seating - there was also patio seating in front of the property. The staff here could not have been more friendly and helpful. Ask the front desk for anything from a map to dinner recommendations to calling for a cab and check out the brochure rack in the business center as there are suggestions of things to do there. My 21st floor room gave a great view of the Empire State Building which was just blocks away! The room was spacious for NYC - normal room size in my opinion. Two queens beds, couch, desk, desk chair, big flat TV...not a complaint to be had about the room or location of the hotel. Not only is it right by the ESB but it is near Macy's, Bryant Park, the library, and several subway stops and parks. My room 2104 was an ADA room which in this case meant the shower was roll in style so there was no lip to keep the water in the room. This made taking a shower a bit of a trick, but if you used the handheld shower instead of the one permanently mounted on the wall things worked out find. You didn't have to hold the handheld shower head, but it could be directed away from the shower curtain better than the one permanently mounted on the wall which kept the bathroom floor drier. No noise issues in the room at all and good light blocking curtains which made for a great night sleep. read more

I really like the Hyatt Place brand and was happy when I discovered they opened one in Midtown! It's not a "full service" hotel, but from what I could see the only things missing were valet car service and room service (although they do have a 24/7 kitchen, you just have to go pick it up). Decent views for Midtown - from my room, I could see the middle of the Empire State Building (and the top if I leaned). The room was pretty small, especially compared to other Hyatt Places, but... it's Manhattan so I wasn't surprised. Free wifi, gym in the basement, and a free "continental +" breakfast (it was like halfway between continental and buffet). A good hotel for a great price, will definitely stay again! read more

This hotel is awesome time and time again. I've stayed here more than a dozen times since my office moved down the block. Rooms are slightly larger than average for the area. Front desk staff are friendly and accommodating. Two important not so great things: 1. Seem to have a chronic towel shortage often resulting in housekeeping "forgetting" bath towels or hand towels... 2. There are only two elevators for 26 floors of hotel rooms. During the morning and evening rush, or whenever and elevator is out of service, this can lead to really long waits to get up or down. read more

My stay at hyatt place in time square was pretty horrible. We called about the AC more than 5 times and nothing was done. To make matters worst the bathroom door didn't close or the bathroom fan doesn't work. After a long day in the city we came back thinking it was already fixed and it wasn't. We called the front desk again, someone came in pushed a few buttons and asked us to wait and hour. Ac never worked, called the front desk once more and just offered some money back but left us in the hot room. I would never come back to this place or recommend it to anyone read more
