The note in their notebook behind the counter. "No evidence found"... doesnt mean a thing at the Days Inn Thermopolis.
    Dan L.

This was our second time here. We LOVED it the first time. This time, however, we found out what it was like to be treated like 2nd class citizens. Our first night there, we checked in (after a 7 hour drive), soaked in the hot tub, and then went to the hotel restaurant for drinks and dinner. The staff in the restaurant was awesome. We ran into a local sheriff, and talked about the upcoming storm...and then retreated back to our room for the night. 10 minutes later there was a knock on the door. I originally thought it was my kids messing with us (we purchased 2 rooms for 3 nights). Then we opened the back door..nobody. Front door... nobody in the peephole... but I open, and its two local police officers hiding out of site. They inform me that the hotel hallway smelled like pot and they narrowed it down to my two rooms (might I add, we are from Colorado...so OF COURSE our rooms right??). I tell them we had JUST got into the apartment, and didnt bring..NOR SMOKE anything into the hotel. They asked if they could check the room. We obliged. They searched through our bags, and asked to search the other room...which we again allowed. The cops then got all chatty with us, talked fishing etc...then left. Sunday..when we went to check out, I noticed an extra $100 charge. I asked the front desk girl what it was..and she said it was for smoking pot in the room. She then pulled out a notebook to state what the cops had said. I asked for a picture of that note in the 30 cent spiral notebook they used to write about their guests. The picture is attached stating "no evidence found" (wouldnt evidence be smoke??..umm) What WASN'T written is how that particular room (out of the 2 we rented) was NEVER taken care of the 3 nights we were there. We had to go to the front desk for towels..and toilet paper, and even dumped our own trash. Im certain that comes with the cost of renting a hotel... Now Im not sure about Wyoming, but everywhere else, you are innocent until proven guilty. Maybe there was a pot smell in the hallway...there was a pot smell in the hallway Thursday...Friday..Saturday..and even Sunday morning. None of those were us either..and yet we NEVER saw any police officers patrolling around looking for the "criminals". Maybe it was from the garbage window AC/heater...we woke up every morning to the smell of Diesel exhaust in the room due to all of the pickups warming up their engines out front. So Im positive it was because of where we were from. Because Im not sure what else we could have done to prove our innocence. THE POLICE SEARCHED THROUGH OUR LUGGAGE!!! I have contacted Days Inn corporate and the general manager of this specific hotel...with no answer. If you want to see this town...and trust me..its nice to be there... Stay somewhere else!!! They find reasons to not do their jobs...and charge ppl more!! I posted below the note from the notebook behind the desk..along with her response...seems to me the manager is confirming that the cops found nothing...but the manager did. How does this happen?? Police state "no evidence found"... General manager states "manager found evidence". Also funny how she states they had to shut down the room for 2 days... probably because sulfur water soaked towels filled the room all weekend as housekeeping did NOTHING for us. IF YOU ARE FROM COLORADO....stay away from this discriminatory hotel. smelled marijuana all weekend..never saw another cop. Guess they just go after "visitors"... and if you are a visitor...consider yourself guilty of whatever they accuse you of...no matter what the evidence states.

The Safari room we ate breakfast there they also serve dinner in the same room.

The room was clean and the bed was soft and the service was friendly. What more could you ask from in a hotel. The two best parts were the free continental breakfast. Which includes fresh hot pancakes, cereal, oatmeal (with brown sugar, raisins if you want) and yogurt. The second best part was seeing all the hunting pictures taken by the owner. He has pictures of just about every animal you can thing of. Then in he Safari room yiu can see a lot of animals stuffed. It wasn't crude or cruel it was tasteful and fun to look at. They are located right by the water parks and hanging bridge.

Only stayed one night but from what I've seen here it's a pretty moderate hotel. A little old fashion not as modern as I would like but it was dog friendly and I always travel with one or two dogs. Pretty cute and clean rooms. The pool is very small only goes to 5ft not exactly my cup of tea. But the hotel is within walking distance of the hot springs so you can always go there. It's also about a 18 minute walk to the dinosaur center which is a 3 minute drive.

Pictures everywhere of animals, animals eating animals, and hunters posing with dead animals. Pictures do not extend to rooms.

We were trapped in a snow storm and stayed here because there was room. I am glad we did! I would return here without question. Why you might like this place: it sits inside the state park, it sits next to the river (our room had a view), their large hot tub contains the same mineral water as the hot spring, they include breakfast, their decor is...unique. (see pictures), if you are a hunter, you will spend hours in their community spaces. I do not agree with hunting, but I wasn't overly disturbed because the decor does not extend to the rooms. The one drawback: I would guess the bathrooms are original to the building. Although dated, they were clean and functional. All staff members were friendly and fantastic.

Absolutely false information. They could not guarantee a working toilet!
    Sabrina R.

Despite the rooms being very dated and had the old room odor to it. Water went out an hour after we got there. Front desk stated not to flush the toilets as the water is not expected to come back on until 6 am possibly. At this time it was barely after 4 in the afternoon. Asked for our money back to go down the street and get one with at least a toilet and they refused. Stated it was not the hotels fault that they could not provide a working toilet. Needles to say, the customer service was horrible and I will never book a Days Inn ever again. Regardless of their location.

Crappy steak but a nice place inside .

It was spacious, and the bathroom must've been recently renovated and had all the modern necessities. The bed was quite comfortable. Our second story view was wonderful, from both the front and the back of the room. Having the hotel right in the Hot Springs Park is a real plus, as the park is beautiful and made for pleasant walks. Our biggest issue is the lack of proper air conditioning in some of the rooms. We had family in other rooms and one of them had to suffer through being hot with no A/C for 3 of 4 nights. The smell from the hotel's mineral spring hot tub is sometimes unbearable. Sometimes it stinks to high heaven, and other time seems to not smell at all. A good tip would be to bring a candle for your room. The staff was at times ambivalent. An example would be them making us wait to check in. We arrived only 20 minutes before the 4PM check-in time, and were told as a matter of policy they won't check anyone in before 4PM. A seemingly silly policy (if it's even a real thing) because it caused a needless line of folks waiting to check in at 4. The evening cookies were wonderful, but the breakfast was tasteless. Next time in Thermopolis, we would try real hard to stay somewhere else. Best of luck to you, with regards to this Best Western

I don't think I have ever been so shocked and disturbed by what I found at the Quality Inn hotel in Thermopolis, WY. For starters we were given a smoking room, My wife nor I are smokers so why the booking automatically defaulted to a smoking room is beyond me. When we got into the room it smelled like a wet ashtray and dingy. I had to pay a $15 charge to change to a none smoking room. At first look the carpets were visibly dirty. When I turned down one of the queen beds, is when I found multiple stains on the duvet. There was a large light yellow stain alone with multiple red stains all over the duvet. Also along the edge there was what looked like a dirt ring around a collar. I could understand a small stain that may have been over looked but this was beyond an oversight. There were stains on the mattress cover. The other queen bed had sheets that were in satisfactory condition. I opened the microwave to heat water and found food that was beyond rotten and more like petrified left by a prior guest. It definitely had been in there for a while. We are doing road trips throughout the US and have staying in quite a few hotels and Airbnbs along the way. Virtually all have been clean and in good condition. Some were worn showing their age and are ready for a renovation but were clean. But this is by far the worst I have ever seen. If you're visiting Thermopolis please do not stay here. This was our first time using Choice Hotels and a Quality Inn and will be our last time.

It is a relic of a past era, when by-ways and highways were the thing -- no fast moving interstates that took you to big towns and modern multiple-story hotels -- but instead on an adventure through small towns and interacting with the locals. Motels were the thing before hotels. There's something about driving up to the door of your room at a one-story building. The rooms are clean, big (much more than a modern room), but have been modernized with flat screen tvs, wireless, coffee makers. microwave, mini-fridge, and modern lighting. The beds are large and comfortable and the bathroom is big with old-style tile floors. The most interesting thing was the swamp-cooler air conditioner. I didn't know those were a thing in a motel or a hotel, but geez -- did it crank out the cold air. That might have been why I didn't hear any noise from the outside or the rooms next door, though. Rainbow is a easy walk to the state park and a slightly longer, but still do-able walk to the downtown. The manager welcomes all guests, walks them to their room, makes sure the key works, and that the room is ready. Oh, and if you don't know how to operate the a/c, will show you how easy it is and remind you to keep a window open to make the cooler work properly. Had it not been for the tv and coffee maker, I would have believed I'd entered a backward time warp. I'm glad I took a chance on this hotel.
