I get people being a little uncomfortable about all of the animal trophies. I don't understand the low ratings because I enjoyed friendly service, a comfortable, clean room and a good nights sleep . I didn't have a chance to enjoy the mineral Jacuzzi because I needed to get to bed. I also was up and out the door before I could sample the free continental breakfast. This was a business trip so time was limited but I do plan a personal visit so I can enjoy the amenities and look around Thermopolis. read more

I've stayed here a few times, and it's always been fine. It is budget style. Cheap shower head and very basic room. For a night or two it's fine. The bonus is the hot tub - I'm not sure it's spring fed but it is smoking waters and sulphur rich. On this particular night, the tub closed at 11, and I had the entire thing to myself on a beautifully cool Wyoming night. The tub is not natural, and it feels like most other non-publicly owned tubs in Hot Springs Park. It's run down but probably to code and safe enough. It's not luxury, but after a day in the car, I'll take it. It's a wonderful recovery. While here, I'll definitely hit the state-owned facility in the morning. If I required a nicer hotel, I'd go with the Best Western. Smaller tub, no pets, but very nice rooms in a historic building. As for dog walks - a few spins around the park, a walk in the sulphur terraces or along the river are a nice way to relax and stretch. read more

Sad free breakfast including omelettes wrapped in plastic packaging for you to heat up in microwave. 4. Preserved dead animals on display all over the hotel with pictures of someone holding up their dead bodies. Seems to be an ego display of some guy for the most part with appearances from other hunters as well. 5. Outdoor pool and mineral tub with a convenient self-use net to fish out the bugs. 6. Musty. 7. Sink took all night to drain. 8. Door doesn't close all the way. 9. Don't bother complaining to the front desk if you still decide to book here. It doesn't look great on the outside and it's slightly better looking on the inside, but they're working with what they have. I don't frequent motels much but it didn't feel like $130 a night was worth the price. The beds were full sized, not queen, clean, with a mini-fridge and coffee maker. We had to request a microwave and got it quickly. The toilet made noises every 15 minutes. There's no elevator and doors weren't really responsive to the keys so you can sense how old the building is. It looks like the Safari Club is attached so there's a lot of pictures of hunting and death of innocent animals along the alls. This could be traumatizing for people and animal lovers wouldn't want to support this establishment's connection. I definitely didn't like seeing all gruesome pictures of all the animals they hunted there and in Africa. With Covid, their pool is closed, but the hot tub is still open. Though there's a limit of 8-11 people, the tub isn't large enough to social distance with that many people. You could maybe social distance with 3 for a tub that size. One night it had more than 15 people and management didn't regulate it. The breakfast was water, a danish or muffin, mixed fruit cups, and two hard-boiled eggs. For the price, you should expect more. Across the street is a nicer looking hotel. read more

This was our second time here. We LOVED it the first time. This time, however, we found out what it was like to be treated like 2nd class citizens. Our first night there, we checked in (after a 7 hour drive), soaked in the hot tub, and then went to the hotel restaurant for drinks and dinner. The staff in the restaurant was awesome. We ran into a local sheriff, and talked about the upcoming storm...and then retreated back to our room for the night. 10 minutes later there was a knock on the door. I originally thought it was my kids messing with us (we purchased 2 rooms for 3 nights). Then we opened the back door..nobody. Front door... nobody in the peephole... but I open, and its two local police officers hiding out of site. They inform me that the hotel hallway smelled like pot and they narrowed it down to my two rooms (might I add, we are from Colorado...so OF COURSE our rooms right??). I tell them we had JUST got into the apartment, and didnt bring..NOR SMOKE anything into the hotel. They asked if they could check the room. We obliged. They searched through our bags, and asked to search the other room...which we again allowed. The cops then got all chatty with us, talked fishing etc...then left. Sunday..when we went to check out, I noticed an extra $100 charge. I asked the front desk girl what it was..and she said it was for smoking pot in the room. She then pulled out a notebook to state what the cops had said. I asked for a picture of that note in the 30 cent spiral notebook they used to write about their guests. The picture is attached stating "no evidence found" (wouldnt evidence be smoke??..umm) What WASN'T written is how that particular room (out of the 2 we rented) was NEVER taken care of the 3 nights we were there. We had to go to the front desk for towels..and toilet paper, and even dumped our own trash. Im certain that comes with the cost of renting a hotel... Now Im not sure about Wyoming, but everywhere else, you are innocent until proven guilty. Maybe there was a pot smell in the hallway...there was a pot smell in the hallway Thursday...Friday..Saturday..and even Sunday morning. None of those were us either..and yet we NEVER saw any police officers patrolling around looking for the "criminals". Maybe it was from the garbage window AC/heater...we woke up every morning to the smell of Diesel exhaust in the room due to all of the pickups warming up their engines out front. So Im positive it was because of where we were from. Because Im not sure what else we could have done to prove our innocence. THE POLICE SEARCHED THROUGH OUR LUGGAGE!!! I have contacted Days Inn corporate and the general manager of this specific hotel...with no answer. If you want to see this town...and trust me..its nice to be there... Stay somewhere else!!! They find reasons to not do their jobs...and charge ppl more!! I posted below the note from the notebook behind the desk..along with her response...seems to me the manager is confirming that the cops found nothing...but the manager did. How does this happen?? Police state "no evidence found"... General manager states "manager found evidence". Also funny how she states they had to shut down the room for 2 days... probably because sulfur water soaked towels filled the room all weekend as housekeeping did NOTHING for us. IF YOU ARE FROM COLORADO....stay away from this discriminatory hotel. smelled marijuana all weekend..never saw another cop. The room was clean and the bed was soft and the service was friendly. What more could you ask from in a hotel. The two best parts were the free continental breakfast. Which includes fresh hot pancakes, cereal, oatmeal (with brown sugar, raisins if you want) and yogurt. The second best part was seeing all the hunting pictures taken by the owner. He has pictures of just about every animal you can thing of. Then in he Safari room yiu can see a lot of animals stuffed. It wasn't crude or cruel it was tasteful and fun to look at. Only stayed one night but from what I've seen here it's a pretty moderate hotel. A little old fashion not as modern as I would like but it was dog friendly and I always travel with one or two dogs. Pretty cute and clean rooms. The pool is very small only goes to 5ft not exactly my cup of tea. But the hotel is within walking distance of the hot springs so you can always go there. It's also about a 18 minute walk to the dinosaur center which is a 3 minute drive. read more

We were trapped in a snow storm and stayed here because there was room. I am glad we did! I would return here without question. Why you might like this place: it sits inside the state park, it sits next to the river (our room had a view), their large hot tub contains the same mineral water as the hot spring, they include breakfast, their decor is...unique. (see pictures), if you are a hunter, you will spend hours in their community spaces. I do not agree with hunting, but I wasn't overly disturbed because the decor does not extend to the rooms. The one drawback: I would guess the bathrooms are original to the building. Although dated, they were clean and functional. All staff members were friendly and fantastic. read more

This place has a horrible owner. When you go in you will see so many dead stuffed animals. Many are endangered. It's so unsettling. I wish there was some sort of warning. Definitely not appropriate for children..... or people that care. Nightmares are made from places like this. It's also gross. Just filthy. And the food makes you sick. Especially with large dead endangered animals watching you eat. By far the worst hotel experience we have ever had and we are world travelers! So Bravo Days Inn!! The hotel was standard but I have to rate this a ONE as their Safari Club Restaurant and Lounge was the most scary thing I have seen in many years - as sold "a truly unique... collection of big game trophies. This private collection contains trophies from Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Alaska, and the US"... Translation: dead animals of any type you can imagine stuck all over the walls. It is a non-smoking building but unfortunately the people in the next room didn't feel it necessary to go outside. Paper thin walls so you can hear everything. The continental breakfast didn't have any lactose free options, the eggs had been smothered in a cheese sauce (why not put it on the side?!), there was no fruit, no lactose free milk for the cereal, not even a hard boiled egg or a sausage or just anything WITHOUT dairy, so I "enjoyed" a glass of apple juice. If you are a tree hugging employee of PETA or one of their supporters, steer clear. The taxidermy collection and pictures of all the hunts the owner has been on is absolutely astounding. Museum quality. The staff is very helpful and nice. The wireless internet is very fast and accessible throughout, which is a fresh experience for any hotel it seems. Days Inn is the only hotel in Thermopolis with a restaurant and room service. I've stayed there on multiple occasions, most recently Valentine's weekend with my husband. We celebrated our shared birthday, which happens to be February 14 (we are hours apart in age). The hotel itself has an outdoor pool that is closed during the winter, and a giant jacuzzi hot tub that is filled with the park's mineral springs, which constantly cycles through the tub. There is a gym as well as massage and private hot tub services available. The room we stayed in was on the second floor and looked out to the pool and river. It had a comfortable King sized bed and newer tv. The bathroom was uncomfortably small. The tub was narrower than a normal tub, which meant a sacrifice in our romantic weekend as we couldn't shower together. The continental breakfast was very satisfying. There were several options, including biscuits and gravy and waffles. The decor of the lobby and restaurant is made up of pictures of hunted animals and stuffed and mounted animals. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HATE HUNTING. The restaurant is called the Safari Club for a reason. I had a steak the first night, my husband a chicken fried steak. Rocky Mountain Oysters (which were slightly overcooked) and an onion bloom (huge) as appetizers. For the price they were good and appropriately sized. The following night we had the Valentine's buffet of prime rib and shrimp. It was delicious and very filling. Our desserts, a brownie and cheesecake, were large and rich. The staff were very helpful and polite. They made us feel special. 4 stars out of 5. read more

It's a good basic hotel. TV, fridge, microwave, and coffee pot in every room. It's what you would expect from a basic hotel. Regular hotel sheets and covers, nothing special. Free continental breakfast which is kind of basic. You can make your own waffle, they have eggs, and warmed oatmeal, cold cereal, bread and jam, coffee and juice. The front desk staff are nice. Front desk stated not to flush the toilets as the water is not expected to come back on until 6 am possibly. At this time it was barely after 4 in the afternoon. Driving from Citrus Heights CA to meet my son and his pastor at the hot springs and park in Thermopolis Wyoming. On the evening of May 15 we went to the Safari Club to enjoy a meal. I ordered the Ribeye medium. when they started bringing out the food the waitress brought me prime rib. I explained that I did not order prime rib, she took the plate and questioned the others in the party, insinuating I was wrong. then she said she would get me my Ribeye. when everyone was just at finishing their meal she showed up with a steak that would have to be propped up to make a 1/4 inch. Not a ribeye for sure. by then I just wanted to eat, after eliminating the grissle, there was not much there. It was terrible. The others said their meal was ok but nothing to write home about for sure. It was a terrible experience. read more

Tip: avoid the hot springs at sunset: lots of mosquitoes from off the river. I'd have liked a screen window for the same reason. And like the previous reviewer, my family found the Safari Room pretty creepy; we're not into hunting. The HOT SPRINGS STATE PARK pool is worth a return visit but I think I will try the BEST WESTERN across the street. And as far as the restaurant "THE SAFARI ROOM " I would go to McDonalds if I were you . We had an appetizer I think it was the spinach dip and it was great , then we had the JACK DANIELS STEAK . It sucked real bad and it was about a 1/2 " thick and about 6-8 ounces of over cooked crap .so much for steak country , you would think it would be a great steak instead of the worst excuse for a meal .The jack Daniels sauce was a mix of real JD & Worcester sauce ... Two stars because the front desk was nice. -3 because the place is super dated and smells like cigarettes. There aren't many options in Thermopolis and we settled on this because it had a restaurant and is in the park. When you walk in you see the place is filled with taxidermy animals everywhere and photos of all the exotic animals the owner hunted. I don't see how that is aesthetically appealing or charming. The place is very old and it is clearly obvious they have not done much to modernize it in anyway. Carpets are old and musty, dust covers mostly everything in the lobby area. The rooms are equally musty and old. Clean but the carpet is so old that you just feel grimy walking on it (I wore flip flops the entire time). The restaurant is meh, frozen meals galore. Server was very kind and friendly. The continental breakfast is decent. They offer the basics and it's not just bread, cereal and muffins which was nice. Not much else to say... there's a hot spring funneled pool in the back area for guests to use. That's about it. read more

I like coming here. The room are just ok, basic. We had a fridge and there is a microwave by the front desk. Good wifi. Free breakfast disappointing because there is a full kitchen here and they serve what you'd expect from motel 6. I don't stay in motel 6. Why the higher rating? They have a huge soaking trough for the visitors (water flows thru constantly from the spring so it is sanitary), fitness center, racquetball courts, massage (Mary is an excellent massage therapist), private hot tub for a nominal fee, steam room. It's a nice economical spa destination. The hotel offers a nice spa package worth our 4 hour drive. The restaurant was good. I think they are working hard to restore their standards. All the staff we encountered were friendly. The only negative on this trip was in the dining area our first evening. Due to low number of guests, dining room was closed and we were seated in the sun room which is adjacent to the bar. The sun room is nice with a wood burning fireplace. Unfortunately, there is no visual or noise separation from the bar. There was a loud, foul mouthed (f-word) local who never shut up. He was very drunk and not at all compatible with the ambiance of the bar or dining area. He should have been asked to leave by the bartender. read more

Only went here for the food because a nearby hotel claimed it was good. That was a huge mistake. Terrible service... The waitress acted like she wanted to be anywhere other than helping me. And when I asked about a substitution question for a burger she went behind the bar to bartender and started complaining about everything I asked. We stayed here twice on a tour of the west that included Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone and Grand Teton. The mineral hot springs jacuzzi was great for tired hiking muscles! The room was clean and comfortable. Free Continental breakfast was great! I would not recommend eating in the restaurant for dinner. read more

Well James, if that is the way you feel about things then you were just in the wrong state. Maybe try visiting New York city. I think the rooms were average but clean. Hotel is centrally located for everything Thermopolis has to offer. But what is so great about this place is the Safari Club Restaurant. Some of the greatest prepared food I have ever eaten, the atmosphere is truly unique and awesome. The big game display is well worth the visit to Thermopolis even if that is your only stop. As an avid outdoorsman this is the greatest display I have ever seen. Like James says, "dead animals of any type you can imagine stuck all over the walls". Lots of pictures and stories to go with them. If you enjoy the lodge type atmosphere and big game displays, this place is a must. If that isn't your thing, then you probably won't like it. Lets start with the positives. There is free WiFi, a decent TV with cable and HBO, a small fridge and coffeepot in the room, it is the only hotel in Thermopolis with a spring fed hot tub (although it is a little on the small side it is still decent), it is also the only hotel in town with a restaurant, and there are not many restaurants in town at all, the pool is nice, location is great, it is within the state park and it is very close to the dinosaur museum and the family friendly water parks, and I personally LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the animals!! It is filled with exotic taxidermied animals and tons of interesting pictures from various adventures. That hallway is my favorite part. Now the down side, since this hotel has been taken over by Days Inn (It used to be a Holiday Inn) it has gone down hill. It is very dated and in dire need of basic updates such as mattresses, linens, furniture, curtains, carpet, even a fresh coat of paint in the rooms would help a lot. The breakfast is piss poor considering that they do have a full restaurant, they don't even offer bacon or sausage. The fitness room is a joke, I have never been upstairs to see the private spa area but I can't imagine it would be much better. I have been patronizing this hotel for the last 15 years, and my latest experience has literally broken my heart. I brought my 10 year old daughter and her BFF there a couple weeks ago for a dinosaur dig and a day of swimming for her birthday. We stayed 2 nights. We thought there was a funny odor (clearly I am oblivious and naive) in the room when we checked in but we just opened both doors and aired the room out and we were fine. Upon packing up and getting ready to check out I was checking all the drawers to make sure the kids didn't leave anything behind when I found a brown paper bag in the drawer between the two beds full of various drugs. Yes, I said drugs, as in more than one kind. I immediately called the police and had an officer come to my room to collect everything. I was MORTIFIED that this had happened!! The girl at the front desk was extremely apologetic and informed me that she could only take $60 off my room without calling a supervisor......ummmm I think this situation DEFINITELY deserves a call to your supervisor. While talking to her supervisor I hear her defending me..."well if they were her drugs I don't think she would have called the cops to come and get them." O.M.G. That did NOT just happen!! Her supervisor agreed to take one night off of our stay. Fine, whatever, I just want to get the heck out of here. I called Days Inn corporate to let them know of my experience and was supposed to be contacted by the manager of the hotel within 48 hours, after a week I called corporate back only to discover that the manager had replied back to corporate that she was very disappointed that I did not inform the front desk of my problem at the time. EXCUSE ME!! Myself and the police officer were standing at your front desk when you suggested the drugs were mine, and if you were not informed why did you credit me back for one of the nights!? Corporate completely understood and was very unhappy with her response as well. I am not done with this situation yet, however, I am done with this hotel. Mostly because they have destroyed my trust and my sense of security at their establishment. I shudder to think what could have happened if the owner of those drugs decided they wanted them back while I was alone in that room with 2 little girls! read more

Most of the staff was very friendly and the pictures and game trophies were fun to look at. That said, the room was old and the double beds were not very comfortable. The pool was supposed to close at 10pm but when we got there with our children at 9:10pm the worker told us it closes at 9pm (it even stated 10pm on the paperwork in our room). He wasn't nice about it either. We got a reduced rate on our room but I still think we paid too much for what we got. The hotel was wonderful with updated amenities. We were thrilled with a night bath in a natural springs hot tub that featured sites of wild deer and small animals. The only draw back to our long day was the incompetent and inadequate staff at The Safari Club. The host acted as if we were intruding and finally surrending to sitting us in the restaurant that was only a quarter full at capacity. After waiting thirty minutes for service, my party and I left. We made the mistake of making a complaint with the general manager of the hotel, she walked back with us to the restaurant and convinced us to be seated once again. Our waitress was slow at best with a personality that only a rattle snake possesses. The food was delicious and fairly priced. Overall, I would never eat at this establishment again nor would I recommend it to my friends let alone worst enemy. If the Safari Club or its staff had to work in a large city, both business and staff would fail miserably due to customer service. Chef Ramsay would have a ball at this place; the decor is horrible, the staff is just as drab, but the chef could have the world at his feet if he only knew how to escape from The Safari from Hell! read more
