This is hands-down the best preschool in the Tempe area. The director (Sally) is unbelievable...she is kind, helpful, exceptional at communication, the list goes on. You can tell that the teachers truly love children. It is such a wonderful community. They have also taken the health and safety of children and families seriously during COVID...they have concrete safety plans in place and do everything possible to make sure everyone stays healthy. I currently have 2 children at Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten. My oldest child has attended Dayspring for 4 years and I could not have chosen a better place for him. Due to the amazingly qualified and nurturing teachers, I have watched my son blossom into a confident, independent learner. My daughter is in her 2nd year at Dayspring and is having an equally great experience. The teachers have worked with us and have been so patient with her individual needs and challenges. The communication has been extremely open and has been with all of the teachers over the years. Our family has literally experienced every class offered at Dayspring from Parent-tot to Kindergarten and I have only praises for the school, its educators, and the administration. read more

Wow, I am speechless at some of the prior postings and thought I would add my input....Coming from a different perspective...My daughter is 12, but attended Dayspring for pre-school and pre-k....I had originally brought her to a different school, but something did not feel right to me, so a dear friend suggested Dayspring....We met with the office and joined the waiting list and with in a day they called me and somehow got her in....In changing schools it was the best decision ever!!!!....They were so welcoming, accomodating in every way, I adored them!!!...I was very involved in the volunteering for activities, the teaching was fabulous, and to this very day her best friends in middle school are her little friends from pre-school....and the moms are my very good friends...I was very impressed with the educators as many of them had been there for 20 years+ so it was a consistent group teaching...And many over-qualified but loved their jobs teaching the little ones. I have what I think is a somewhat unique perspective on Dayspring, as I started out as a parent, but have since started working at Dayspring. My Daughter started at Dayspring in the 3's classroom and is currently in Pre-k. As a parent, I have been very happy with Dayspring as a nurturing environment AND as a learning environment for my Daughter. When the opportunity arose to work at Dayspring, I jumped at the chance. I am an educator with a masters degree in elementary education. I have been home with my kids for the last several years but welcomed the opportunity to re-enter my chosen profession. What I have found since I started working at Dayspring is a an educated, professional, kind and dedicated staff. I have been so impressed with the commitment of the administrators to the ongoing professional development of the staff that in turn enhances the classroom experience for the children. I can tell you that the administrators and staff have no agenda beyond providing the best experiences and opportunities for our kids. I believe the children are getting just what they need to be successful, life long learners, at the level they are developmentally ready for. The classrooms are creative environments with different "centers" that provide a variety of opportunities to explore. Throughout the year there are thematic units that tie together the disciplines of language, mathematics, the arts, and sciences. As an educator, I think Dayspring is right on the mark with its balance of developmentally appropriate classroom and playroom settings, active play time, and academics. I may decide in the future to move back into the elementary level classrooms, but I'm glad to have had the experiences for my Daughter and myself at Dayspring. It truly is a great school. read more

I am a mother of 2 and we have been with Dayspring since 2006. It is true that the school supports a play-based curriculum, but that does not mean that the children leave the school anything BUT prepared for Kindergarten. The children "play" grocery store and pizza parlor, before they go "play" in the garden and pick the veggies they will have at snack. Then they go to the science center and "play" with the worms, ants and butterflies, before they go outside to "play" scientists and make volcanoes explode and discover soapy science, color science and messy science. My youngest daughter is currently in the pre-k program and has learned to write full sentences in her journal. She comes to school each day and actually reads the board outside her room to learn about the daily activities. By "playing" with language each day in the classroom, she has learned the majority of sight words taught in the Kindergarten classrooms in the public school. My daughter has been attending Dayspring for almost 2 years (3s and currently Pre-K) and will stay for Kindergarten next year. The teachers are loving, eager to teach and help the kids to think for themselves and problem solve. They teach the class as a whole, as well as focus on each child's intellectual and social development level within the class itself. My daughter as learned so much in her Pre-K class and has made wonderful friends. They have a daily routine and are given "jobs" for the day and are always encouraged to express themselves through their art and projects. They focus on new subjects (animals, dinosaurs, recycling, science, etc) weekly and have monthly field trips (grocery store, local gym, farm, museums) regarding the current subject. In addition, parent participation is always encouraged in the classroom. The learning is based on social interactions with peers, imaginative play and learning through exploration, which is how it should be when the kids are 3-6 years old. It's been a wonderful experience to watch my child learn and thrive in such a great environment. I am looking forward to my youngest daughter starting at Dayspring in another year. I couldn't imagine a better school experience for my children. read more
