Ordered the 8" CSA logger boots, model 6408, in brown leather, on a Thursday, and received the following Tuesday in San Jose, California area--that is super fast! This boot is super comfortable for a logger boot with a decent insole. Be aware that Dayton Boots uses UK sizing so a 9UK is the same as a 10USA, but only comes in Wide. I usually order US size 10E, so these were perfect with good socks. As for the bad press regarding Dayton Boots during the Pandemic, I was happy to hear the news that the founder's grandson is part of a new ownership group. read more

Oh, I love this place! I am a Vancouverite & just came across this shop for the first time. Mind you, it's not in my neighborhood. I own Fluevogs, Doc Martins & Bed Stu's, but now I'm seeing the necessity of owning a pair of Dayton shoes. These are shoes & boots made of high quality thick durable leather. Initially, these shoes were made for police officers and outside workers, but now they're for anyone. The staff is friendly & knowledgable. They will measure your feet and size shoes to fit your feet the best. Right now, there is a four month wait list for custom made orders. Not surprising, seeing that even the famous like Angelina Jolie, Robin Williams & Johnny Depp have purchased these shoes. I was lucky enough to find a pair in stock that fit me so well. Sadly, I can not drop $500 on a pair of shoes right now, but I was soooo tempted. Love them. read more

Ordered a pair of 10" CSA safety boots at the end of May and just received them. I was fully aware that these are hand made, and delivery would not be fast. That being said, the original estimate for delivery was overly optimistic at 3 months, but when I would ask for an update, my emails were promptly and courteously replied too. Now that I have them, I couldn't be happier. Workmanship is top notch, easily comparable to other comparable hand-made boot vendors. Sizing was much better because Dayton would review your foot tracing and help you pick the best size. But I am really pleased at how light these are compared to other, similar boots I've purchased from other vendors (Viberg and Wesco). The leather is also quite soft, so they will break in quite easily as well. Good, fast or cheap. Pick two, because you won't get all three. They aren't cheap, but they are very well made and will last far longer than something of far lesser quality, but almost as expensive. read more

I bought service boots from Dayton back in 2011. I was really happy with them; expensive, sure, but great looking and comfortable boots. As much as I tried my best to take care of them, eventually, bad habits crept in and they got neglected. I knew I was due for a new heel and a new sole, but I kept putting it off. Eventually, they got so worn down that I felt like I couldn't even wear them anymore and was ashamed to bring them in! After they lived in my closet for several months, I decided that I had to have them back on my feet and brought them in for re-soling. I got a little bit of grief for waiting so long to bring them in but was assured that a re-sole was still possible and they would have them brought back to life in no time. Even though I wore them hard, their workmanship held up, and I was looking forward to the rejuvenation. It took about 6 weeks for the repair (I brought them in two weeks before Christmas, a busy time no doubt), but wow, was it worth the wait. What the hell took me so long? They look stunning. New Cat's Paw "no slip" heel. New sole. New laces. Reconditioned leather. They look like brand new boots, but they're not... they're the same boots I spent five years wearing (the insoles can attest to it). I honestly think they are nicer and better than when they were brand new... they're like-new, but custom-molded to my feet. I love these boots again, and I'm proud to say that I'm a Dayton owner. Back in 2011, I made the decision to skip the trendier Indy Boots and the mass-produced 1000 Mile Boots in favour of something locally made, and I'm glad I did. Thanks Dayton! read more

While I probably won't be able to wear their boots due to nature of my job, you can tell when you walk in, that it's great quality and service. Even changing leather soles is a few days, @35, seems reasonable. A cool western-style yet still a bit heritage, with some comfortable seating in the middle. On the wall, you can read the history of how the original owners founded this store. Was looking for a half-boot with a zipper but staff explained the concerns of zipper, etc. When you pick up any of their shoes, it's heavy and real leather. Good-size store too. I recently ordered a pair of Service Boots from Dayton, at their store in Vancouver, and am very happy with them. The staff was warm and helpful, and took the time to make sure I found the perfect size, including a modification to make them fit even better. The turn-around time was much quicker than expected (quoted 4-5 weeks, were ready in 2 weeks). If you're looking for boots, I'd strongly recommend visiting this shop. The quality & style of these is great, and although they're pricy, I think a fair price for the high quality of craftsmanship and materials. This is a review of the company, not the product; were it a review strictly of the product, it would get five stars. I purchased a set of boots from Dayton Boots this year, and am very pleased with them. When I made the purchase, I was told a more favourable price would be available on an additional pair of shoes or boots if purchased within 30 days. This sounded good, but I just didn't have the money. These things are quite pricey, but quality isn't cheap, and Dayton Boots needs to profit. Fast forward to today, I have the money, and went back. I was really looking forward to this, as it was such a great experience the last time. First, I called, and asked if there was any chance I could speak with the salesman -whose business card I kept, scribbled with the size, colour and model of shoes I wanted- gave his name, but was told he was with a customer. No big deal, I left my name and number requesting a call back; never happened. I waited a week, and tried again. This time, no effort was made to connect me with the salesman; I was again told he was with a customer, there was no stock on the shoes I was looking for, and I would have to pre-order. Also, the person on the phone informed me that no deal with the salesman would be honoured, as she was "not authorised" to do so. I didn't want to give up -I do like these shoes- so as soon as I had some time, drove into Vancouver and dropped in at the store. Since the original verbal deal had clearly expired, I expected to pay full price, but was hopeful that they would offer at least some token of appreciation to a returning customer. When I walked in, I was shocked at how barren the place was. Six months ago it was full of shoes, customers, and staff; now it was empty. There were a few jackets on a rack, some demo models of shoes on one wall, and a lot of space. I walked over to the demo-shelf and discovered the shoes I wanted have more than doubled in price, to nearly $1,000; they were now several hundred dollars more expensive than their boots, which had not increased in price. The sales person behind the desk wandered over after a few minutes, and informed me that the salesman I had asked after was no longer with the company, reiterated that no deal he made would be honoured; and, I was not even invited to pre-order a pair of shoes. I feel brushed off, and rather disappointed. I am a paying customer. I am a returning customer. Well, I was. I will not grace Dayton Boots with my presence, or wallet, anytime soon. A 100% price increase in six months, no stock, and an absolutely horrible sales person who was not honest with me on the phone, made no effort to take an interest in a returning customer, and gave me nothing but attitude, equals a customer experience as follows: YUCK. read more

WOW! Buyer beware! What a terrible experience. I visited Vancouver in August 2011 and went into the new Dayton Boots store and ordered a pair of boots. I was very excited as my wife purchased a custom pair of boots for my birthday. I was told it would take 8-12 weeks as they are hand made. Well, I called to check on my boots in late December 2011 and was told they weren't done. They were busy with orders and one of their machines was broken. Steve, the owner and CEO was nice enough and asked if he could have until after the holidays to make the boots. I said that was fine. I called again in Mid January 2012 and spoke to Steve again. He (Steve) again was very nice and notified me that they were in the process of finishing the boots and it should be shipped out by the end of the week. I expected them to be delivered by the end of January. Well, this morning, almost 6 months later I called again and asked about my boots. I spoke to a woman named Michelle and she took my number and said she would have to talk to Steve and would call me later to let me know. At 4pm, I had not heard back from Michelle, so again I called to follow up. I spoke to Michelle and she said that they were busy. I asked about my boots and she said let me put you on hold, I have to ask Steve. I waited and Michelle came back on line. We need another two weeks. TWO WEEKS? What? "Well, we do not have any leather. We are waiting for more to come in. But once it comes in we will make them for you and ship them out. No apology. Are you kidding me, NO LEATHER? Alert (are they paying their bills?) "Well, we have some but it keeps tearing. When we put it on the stretcher but it tears. I say, Steve told me they were being made and was being shipped a month ago. Now you are asking me to wait another two weeks because you have no leather. Well, you have to understand we have been around for 65 years and other people have to wait too. Do they all have to wait 6 months, I ask? Well, no. Do you want a refund? No, I want to talk to Steve expecting to hear I am so sorry. We will try to make this right. No, I got more of the same from Steve, Well, you have just have to wait. We have been around for 65 years and you should be more patient. I say, actually you have been around for only 4 years and the original owners probably wouldn't be happy with your current business model. So I ask for the refund Michelle offered me and Steve says so you just wanted unload on me and hung up on me. I called back and got Michelle. I said I wanted a refund and she I need your credit card. I said, don't you have it on file? She said, no, how would we have it on file? I said, electronically?? No, our systems don't do that. UNBELIEVABLE So I ended giving her another card to refund the money to.No apologies. Nothing. Moral of the story. Don't but from here. New owners clearly are having issues! read more

They talked me into the work boots with the cowboy boot style heel claiming they straighten your posture and feel really good... turns out they kill your back if you wear them for more then 2 hours a day when I inquired about lowering the heel or fixing them i was told there was nothing they could do... so now I have 2 pairs of boots that cost me $1000 that are garbage, poor customer service for very uncomfortable boots. DO NOT BUY. Great Canadian boot company makes a good quality boot for cheaper so does redwing, buy them. read more

Mr. Petrucelli, I have refunded your deposit. You public actions have made it quite apparent that you are unlikely to be satisfied and I think it prudent to not make you a pair of our boots. Your entitled to your opinions. Some of which I admitted were valid. That said, I have no idea how you wanted me to respond. I was further confused by what you wanted to achieve with your Yelp post. The most wonderful boots in the world are made right here in Vancouver, BC! And have been for years. Dayton Boots on Hastings..a Vancouver institution. Just bought my first pair of Daytons after wanting them for years and years! I got the Low Rider style in black oil finish. I knew that they were beautifully made and looked super-cool, but I wasn't prepared for how comfortable they were! Staff will spend a lot of time helping you choose the right style and size. Oblivious to mud, rain, snow, and dirt, look great, and comfortable! They are not super-cheap, but comparing to other leather boots for sale around town, for the same price, or even less, than many brands, twice the boot in terms of leather, style,construction, and durability. First off I will start off by saying, I love my Dayton's! Had them for about a year now, and they are the most comfortable boots I own! All of their boots are handmade in the factory in the back, which is hard to find now a days. The retail staff are friendly and go out of their way to make sure you leave the store happy. This isn't just any regular boot store, this is a part of Vancouver history. You couldn't get a better bang for your buck anywhere else. Dayton's the name that strikes fear into the name of all other boot brands. The company that goes above and beyond with customer service. Quality boots that will last...... So I've been told. When i heard all these thing and was told that they make custom boots i was thrilled. Ive got some big old feet so finding a place that can make boots to my size got me stoked! I was told that they were pricey but spare no expense i needed some boots. At first they were great, real friendly staff, hooked me up and told me that my boots would be done in six to eight weeks. Three months latter my boots where finished. Went in to pick them up and they didn't make me the right boot. There was some kind of mistake. They offered me my money back but I still trusted them and said nah, its okay i can wait. Three months latter and after hounding them with phone calls my boots were done. These guys are great . I have really wanted a pair of Dayton's since I was a kid ( I am now 66 ) and I finally got a pair of Confederates . They were custom made (Expensive !! , but worth it ) . They guaranteed a perect fit and when they weren't perfect the first time they rebuilt them . Now they fit and look fabulous . The service from Andrew and Nicole was over the top great . I'd make it 5 Stars but sometimes they drop the ball on communication . By that I mean answering the phone seems a bit of a challenge for them . I was reminded to review this place since I saw it on Kenneth's review page. My girlfriend and I came in here 3 months ago. She is more of the shoe wh*re than I am, however, I did get something out of the shoe experience. The lady working there was super helpful to the both of us in ensuring that we got a boot that not only fit her personality but also was practical for what she needed for the nature of her job. She also helped me find some fashion boots to go along with my goth dress. I tried on a few pairs, however, I had odd ankles, therefore, fitting into boots is more miss than hit with me. I had a situation where they could have made a boot for me with a tiny difference for my smallest toes to have more room. They refused to consider this simple difference; they're making the shoe for me anyway; why not such a small change my specialist says was certainly possible. Instead, they tried to up-sell me to a custom last & custom shoe ($$$$). Came to speak with another salesperson. Before talking with me, they had a quiet conversation in the back. I have worn Dayton for years but this is an absolute disgrace to the Dayton Founders. I ordered mine in early November 2011 with assurance from Stephan that shipping would be before Christmas. I have heared all the same excuses including the needle has broken for the stiching and they are waiting for spares! All of which in my opinion are lies to throw us off the track and shut us up. I was in Vancouver for a real estate conference, and since I have wanted a pair of Daytons for years, I made the trip over to Hastings. It was worth it! I brought a friend along, and she was very impressed with the whole place. I have ordered a pair of black and red Driver boots, and know I will have to wait for them. Do i care? Nope! Dayton Boots is a Vancouver icon. My Black Beauties are a classic, hand-made - by far the best boots I've ever owned. Their flagship store in East Van. is well worth the visit. They've taken the salvaged wood from the storm in Stanley Park, 2006 and refurbished the floors and shelving. Beautiful. One of the few local businesses that is truly local - I highly recommend this Vanc and Cdn legend. read more

Went in on my day off to look for boots for riding my motorcycle. Although it was empty the sales staff did not even bother to greet me. I walked around looking at some boots, but when I looked for someone to ask about sizing, I noticed they were greeting a Telus worker who was there to do some work and was busy talking to them. I waited patiently for them to be done and when I walked up to the counter the lady actually walked away from me to the back without even asking me if I needed help. I was taken aback at the unprofessional service. I was left in the store by myself for another 15 minutes at that point I needed to get back to work after a somewhat of a loss of my lunch break left a little more than confused. read more
