I've been a loyal customer of DC Access since I moved to SE DC in 2014. They're a locally owned and operated business with unparalleled customer service. Every time I call DC Access with a service issue, I am connected immediately to a staff member or am called back within 10 minutes. They send a technician out as soon as possible, which last time was within 2 hours. The technicians show up when they say they will, if not before, and call when they're on their way. The hardware (modem, signal extenders, etc.) is included in the cost of the service. And DC Access markets the ACTUAL wireless speeds you can expect and not the UP TO speeds that Verizon and Xfinity say you can get (though never actually do). We had internet service with DC Access for almost 3 years and would highly recommend them to anyone in the Capitol Hill area. Our service was great, and the few times we had issues Matt would come by himself to re-jigger the router or fix whatever needed fixing. They are responsive, timely, and friendly - it is obvious that they have a vested interest in helping their neighbors consistently receive great service (compare that to Comcast workers, whom I found to be generally disinterested, after all you were one of many chumps who had no choice but to go with them). Not to mention that DC Access' rates are competitive and don't escalate over time! We recently had to relocate outside of Washington, DC and even the de-installation was a breeze. They arrived on time and finished within 20 minutes. No more long lines at the Comcast collection office! I have had DC Access internet for three years now and have only great things to say. I have had great internet and phenomenal service, with very few service interruptions. Every time I call (which is not often), a DC Access staff person picks up the phone right away and resolves any issue I may be having. Also - major bonus - rates have stayed the same throughout the three years I've had DC Access. My husband and I are moving out of DC Access' service area and are very sad to leave this company. I started with DC Access with just a simple TV antennae. Tony came out to install it - I guess around 6 years ago. Tony was not just somebody who just came out to install some equipment, he treated us like family and showed that he cared about us as customers. We had the TV antennae, but we still weren't ready to give up the Version internet option yet. When FiOs came out, we thought we had the end all to internet connections. Each year the cost kept going up and up and up and the connection - not bad - but OK. Finally, we said why do not internet with DC Access! Tony came back out and we got the same family type service and he installed all the equipment. That was two years ago and the price has not gone up one cent. TODAY, guess who came by to upgrade my antennae and equipment? You got it, Tony - same family type of service. Tony called before coming over and offered to come earlier. He showed up right on time with our new time. The cost of all the upgraded equipment over our outdated equipment and faster internet speed was only $5 more a month. The only regret I have is waiting so long to go with DC Access as our internet provider. Advice for everyone out there, don't wait like I did and ask for Tony! read more

I just found about this company and it's great that they offer a cheap price for internet but the area that's it's offered in is not very helpful. It's offered uptown where they can afford to pay full price for xfinity. The service is not in areas that can really benefit from having affordable internet i think it's unfair. The customer service here is unparalleled for an internet service provider. There were initial problems with starting up our service, but once it was up and running there were no more problems, and the level of attention to their customers remained. I highly recommend DC Access and would gladly choose them again. It is also worth mentioning that they have pledged to their customers that they will not sell their data, even though the soon-to-take-effect regulation that would have required internet service providers to obtain their customers' permission before selling their data was repealed. Decided to "cut the cord" with Comcast after too many rate increases. Comcast quoted me Internet-only at about $111/month. Few companies served my building in NW DC (not FIOS, RCN or AT&T) but happened to find a local company, DC Access, and glad I did. If your Internet access has to stay up, you want great customer service, and you're willing to pay a little more to get this, just hope that you're in DC Access's wireless footprint. Nine years ago, we were slowly dying on the vine with DSL, suffering through multi-day outages every six months. And I couldn't bring myself to sign up for cable Internet - it was surprisingly hard to just give the Borg money to provide services. Luckily, the DC Access service area had just expanded cover us, and, after a Saturday morning visit from Matt to put an antenna on our roof, we were good to go. We use the Internet for standard business apps and for streaming (usually just a single video or audio stream). Since then, download and upload speeds have improved and costs have gone down. When I report a problem, it's fixed within hours (even at night) and, if that's not possible, with a visit. The antenna does fine in the wind and rain. Nowadays, an added bonus is knowing that my ISP isn't throttling my bandwidth to put pressure on Netflix or Hulu or anyone else. read more

Ive had DC Access for about 5 months now and have been really happy. First, Im thrilled with the price. Second, I love that I can debundle internet, phone, and cable. With services like Google TV and Sling, it's great to be able to decide to go cable free. Third, the customer service is great. They proactively address issues and pick up the phone when you call. I'm an average user and am very happy with download speeds, service, and dependability. And to top it off, these guys are committed to the principles behind net neutrality. If you pay for 5mbps or 10mbps, you'll get it from whatever site you are on. I dont trust those other big guys, but I feel like we are in good hands with DC Access. read more

I've had DC Access for about 8 months now and am so satisfied I haven't even thought about it- which is the ultimate goal of a great internet service provider, I think. I moved to the hill and had enough of Xfinity, so I went with this local service that was suggested by some friends in the area. First off, the service is unparalleled. Only twice has something happened with our internet and I had someone on the phone instantly with advice that immediately fixed the first problem, and then the second time I had a person come out the next day and fixed the issue with a brand new modem. You won't get this immediate service anywhere else. Secondly, we do not have cable. We use AppleTV to stream HBO, Netflix, Hulu, etc. and it works perfectly. I was worried we wouldn't be able to stream things as well with DC Access because I thought Xfinity owned the speed- but I was wrong. If you want great service, great pricing, and fast internet without the pain that is Comcast Xfinity or other terrible companies- call DC Access. They are the greatest. read more

Using DC Access has been great for so many reasons: 1. Matt and Martha are two of the nicest and most helpful people you will ever encounter at an internet service company. They are the owners and they handle all service issues personally. Your calls/emails do not get routed to some anonymous call center. 2. The internet service is great and very reliable. On the rare occasion that something goes wrong (for us it was a freak storm that damaged the wireless antenna on our roof), they respond to calls immediately and Matt is out on site promptly to fix things. No waiting around in 4-hour windows for some questionable "technician" like with Comcast. 3. The prices are very reasonable. 4. It's not Comcast/Verizon/(insert name of huge horrible corporate internet provider)!!! Instead, you are supporting a great local/small business. If only all internet providers could be like DC Access! Sadly, we are moving out of our Capitol Hill apartment but maybe someday they will expand into other neighborhoods. read more

They aren't Comcast! That is definitely the best feature. The people on the phone are nice and knowledgeable, the installation was relatively easy, and the technician was very nice and flexible with our busy schedules (and actually showed up when he said he would!). We have had DC Access internet service for about two months, and there have probably been 2-3 evenings when it didn't work as well as you would want, which happened much more frequently when we had Comcast. These guys are AMAZING. When I first wrote to them for info, they responded within 10 minutes, explained the whole process, checked on the availability at my address, etc... It all sounded great so we made an appointment for someone to come out to assess where to put the antenna and what not. And when I say an 'appointment', I don't mean the Washington Gas-style 'appointment' where they imprison you in your house from 7 am to 5 pm (or, in my case, until after 6 pm!) waiting for a technician and then treat you like you're an unreasonable psychopath if you try to get at least a vague (4-hour window, say) idea of ETA!! No... DC Access folks make a precise appointment and show up ON TIME!!!!! Hallelujah! Incredibly refreshing. They are also extremely friendly and professional (another plus if you're a single woman in this city and, like me, have had to deal with slime-balls who seem to think that they're coming to your home or getting your contact information to add you to their booty call rolls). DC Access folks should teach classes around this city on how to treat customers. In terms of the technical stuff... I signed up for the basic service and it's very fast! I'm streaming video in HD with no problems at all. I don't do gaming or anything, so can't really speak to that. I'm so happy I live on the Hill so that I can have service with these guys!!!! 10 STARS! read more

DC Access is amazing. Every technician that has come to our house has been so so helpful, so nice and so efficient. When we wanted to add a router in our house, they came within 24 hours of us calling. We also love that when we call DC Access a person answers the phone and makes a point of making sure we have all our questions answered. They are the best. They are the exact opposite of Comcast and Verizon - guaranteed net neutrality; they don't sell our browsing histories and other personal data; they have clear and simple pricing - three set fees for three different data plans that don't arbitrarily increase after a year's time; no hidden fees or sneaky "deposit" fees that you have to call about a year after starting your service to get a refund - only one installation fee and free use of their modems; and yes, good customer service with humans who are straightforward and don't try to trick you. If you have the choice you should definitely go with DC Access over Comcast or Verizon. I hope they will be able to serve a larger area soon so that more people can benefit. read more
