One of our stand alone carbon monoxide detectors went off and after replacing it was advised to call Washington Gas. The representative was very helpful and within an hour Scott from Washington Gas came and thoroughly went through the house inside and outside to conform no Monoxide. He also gave us helpful advice on where to place the detectors as well as what type to get (wired vs stand-alone). Very impressed with Washington Gas and Scott their representative.

Fireplace botton panel removed in seconds.

Washington Gas is the worst utility company. They transfer you back and forth between departments and all you hear is "I am sorry". My 91 year old Korean War veteran moved in with me recently from Pittsburgh and we haven't had heat or hot water since 10/6/21. They said they can't reach the pilot light on my gas fireplace to relight it as the screens were in the wrong way. I had a fireplace technician come to my home and he removed the panel in less then 1 minute. He was upset that 2 people from Washington Gas couldn't do it. They had turned off my power initially to replace the meter without my approval, then said no gas was leaking but turned off my gas for 6 days until I removed the screen. The temperature has been down to 36 degrees in my bottom floor several evenings, and that is where my dad sleeps. Also, no showers as the water is cold, and can't use the gas stove. It is now 6 days and I had an appointment between 7am-12pm. No one came and I wad informed it should have been between 7am-7pm. The agent admitted it was an error on Washington Gas side. I pay my bills in full through monthly auto pay and have been annual customer since living in Northern VA since 1981. What kind of people treats their veterans and elders like this is unfathomable. I wish they didn't have a monopoly on gas service. Still waiting for resolution....

A full hour on the phone with customer service and I have yet to talk to a human.

3 Stars only because I haven't had an "issue", and it's solar, but it's not as great as it seems…read more First, as I've always known, they take the $$ due for your bill around 20 days ahead of the due date to the energy company. You do have an option to extend that 7 days each time, side note. My assumption is this gives them the opportunity to invest people's money into something, before anything is due. Secondly, we are no longer saving any "real" money. In recent time, the amount of solar we are allocated has shrunk significantly, and, you only save 10% on the solar portion of your bill. Our recent bill total was $274 (from RI Energy) and we saved just over $6. It came to about a 2.2% total savings. Obviously, they have to make money to be in business. So, I guess it's really about your desire to use solar, and how/why.

I echo the comments about this company being a scam. They double-billed me for a month of service,…read moreand take no responsibility and won't refund. The contract terms are totally one-sided: the customer has no rights. I want to close my account and they're saying it takes 90 days. Absurd. The savings were negligible -- an average of $4/month over 8 years of service -- no value add. And buying from them didn't even generate more clean energy. The wind and solar farms generate regardless and dump their power into the grid along with coal and nuclear. So I can't say my home ran on clean power. All I can say is a middle man made a markup on some renewal energy certificates which are probably meaningless. And double-billed me and made it really tough to cancel. Stay far away from this scam.

The customer service…read morewas disappointing, and instead of working toward a solution, I felt like my concerns were dismissed. A message to the manager, Mr. Nick: I encourage you to invest in leadership and customer service training. Strong communication and problem-solving skills go a long way in resolving customer issues professionally. Here's what happened: In 2022, I signed up with Evergreen Disposal for twice-weekly trash pickup on Tuesdays and Fridays. For the past five years, that was the service I received. On Friday, June 26, 2026, my trash was not picked up. I initially assumed it was due to a missed payment, but I brought my account current. Then, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, my trash was missed again. When I called customer service, both the representative and Mr. Nick told me that my service was only supposed to include Friday pickups and that the Tuesday pickups had been provided "as a courtesy" for the past five years. That explanation simply doesn't make sense. If I had been receiving Tuesday pickups consistently for five years, it's reasonable to believe that was part of the service I originally signed up for. It was frustrating to suddenly be told otherwise and that I would now have to pay extra to continue receiving the same level of service. Because of this experience, I decided to cancel my service with Evergreen Disposal. My advice to potential customers is to keep copies of your service agreement, document all communications, and verify exactly what services you're paying for. It could save you from a similar situation in the future.
