The experience was amazing from start to finish. From the moment we entered the hanger we were greeted and explained what we needed to do. The safety briefing was detailed and my tandem dive instructor was up beat welcoming and professional. The whole experience was one that I will never forget and intend to diving again in the near future but with another company.. It was such a amazing rush and one to cross off on my bucket list of thinks to do. How ever I do have one disappointment in my experience one that I felt I was not exactly given what I expected. I purchased the media package with video and photos. I was very impressed in the video it was detailed from the beginning entering the plain to landing. my disappointment came when we opened the disc to look at the photo's to find that it was the video in still slides which has not even been edited. I feel this is a misrepresentation of what a photo package should of been. I paid $149 for a duplicate copy of my video something that I could of done at home with a home photo editing suit. So take my advice just get the video and save ya self some Bucks. Customer service has a lot to be desired very poor response when confronted and took over a week for a response after sending several emails. read more

Our instructors, Chris, Kurt and Ricco were awesome and made us feel comfortable. They were reassuring and confident and that's what we needed to hear. Cancelled twice on my reservations jump attempts due to plane maintenance issues. Second time, I had taken PTO for the jump. I have left 5 voicemails and called them another 10 times. No answer. Skydiving was amazing - but be prepared to spend a full 3-4 hours waiting to jump, without any clear communication. Pluses: The jump was awesome, and my instructor (Kevin/KP) was absolutely stellar. We felt safe and absolutely exhilarated, and a shoutout goes to this phenomenal instructor. Five stars for Kevin for making this in-air experience so fun. Cons: Management. We were scheduled for 11am, arrived on time, and didn't get into the air until about 3:00pm. As a group of two, we were apparently bumped for larger groups for a few hours, and weren't even put into harnesses until after members of the 1pm group were harnessed-up. Zero communication from staff about what was happening - we were told we were going on an earlier flight when we approached a staff member, and then had to find someone again when we weren't put on this flight. Staff were confused when we sought them out, and ensured us that people went out in the order they checked in (very obviously not true). When we finally reached a manager after 2:00pm, we received a few paltry excuses and a very poor attempt to explain the situation/apologize for the long wait. The instructors also seemed stressed, with little time between jumps or time to introduce themselves to jumpers (this may have been a crazier day than usual, who knows!). Zero stars for management - and be careful booking if you have any other commitments happening that day. read more

My husband surprised me with two tandem skydiving vouchers from Groupon. We scheduled 9 AM since our kids go to school so we had the whole morning to ourselves! The weather was so gorgeous! My instructor, Dennis was awesome! Prior to landing, he took his time to let me enjoy the panoramic view. My husband's instructor, Randy was also awesome! This was my first time skydiving and after paying nearly $100 for the video package, i never received my video. I called and emailed multiple times for over a month. All they did was bounce my call between different people and offer solutions that again NEVER HAPPENED. save your money and go somewhere else unless you want terrible customer service. read more

The jump was fantastic! The high price and high pressure sales used for the photos, not so much. This was my first time skydiving and the instructors were professional, fun and the jump was AMAZING! No words to describe it. I would have had an all day high from that. Except... Right after the jump they want to show you all your amazing photos, which is great, but if you can't afford to shell out another $100, you're ending the jump with this serious regret that you can't take home any of the amazing photos. Not one. I could have paid $20 for just one photo emailed to me, or up to maybe $50 for just 5 or ten, and come away feeling nothing but awesome. Instead I headed to the car on such a down note I almost wanted to cry because I couldn't take home a single photo, knowing how fabulous they looked. Their all or nothing pricing on the photos lost them extra cash, and lost them a future jumper should I ever go again, as I will be looking for a place that has SOME flexibility in letting me take some memories home with me. Bucket List item: Skydive. CHECK! I was surprised to see the only two other reviews here have such bad experiences, I loved every second of it! My boyfriend's sister and his parents bought my boyfriend a Living Social deal here for his 30th birthday and since I couldn't let him go alone, I picked one up for myself. As the day approached, I started to get more and more nervous. I admit, it looks a bit sketch when you pull up and you see a bunch of cars parked in a field with turkeys running around, however you quickly forget about that when you meet the staff. The staff here really puts you at ease, you can tell they love what they do and everyone is so relaxed about it. Their relaxation about the whole thing, really helped bring down my anxiousness a bit. I understand where the other reviewer was coming from about the short training time, however, in all honesty, there's not a whole lot to learn. Squat, head back, put you legs between their legs, open arms when they tap you. That's it. When it was time to jump, I seriously forgot everything anyway and my instructor just pulled my head back and squeezed my legs together. My instructor had me practice the landing on the way down. You hold your legs up. Again, that's it. They know what they're doing. As a matter of fact, my instructor had over 8,000 jumps, my boyfriend's over 10,000! I couldn't have felt more safe. Also, to the one reviewer who said her harness was pinching her... would you have rather have had it loose? Mine was tight too and definitely pulled at my legs a bit. But whatever, I was safe. Would you complain if you were rock climbing and got a scratch from the rocks? As for the views, yeah, I didn't see the monuments either, but I live in DC, I can see them from my apartment. What you'll experience with the views here is million times better. Virgina landscape, trees, farmland, the countryside, all from 10,000 feel up. Ever climbed Old Rag? It's like that, only exponentially better. For anyone who is thinking about skydiving, DO IT! I have extremely terrible ADD. My head is always full of a million thoughts at once. Of course skydiving is extreme. Of course it's scary. DC Skydiving Center made me feel at ease though. Yes, the training did take very little time. My instructor gave me the key points, then we repeated them several times on the ground and in the air before the jump. === Training didn't need to take any longer. === Give someone 2 or 3 things to think about, and they have a decent chance of remembering one or two of them. Give someone 20 things to think about, and they will forget everything. No hour long training session was needed. I didn't need to know how to reload a gun while in the air or what to do if Patrick Swayze opens your chute in a friendly game of chicken. My instructor, Don, was a hoot. Giving me high fives and lots of "awesome brother!"'s. Yeah, his laid-back demeanor may be in complete opposition to most first jumper's overly tense attitudes, but that's what you need. To have FUN. I had no doubt Don was an excellent skydiver. Over 10,000 jumps, and I am sure no one there was in the business of dying or killing people. He made the video much more memorable (tip - get the video! also, tip your instructor!!) Beautiful day and beautiful view of the Virginia countryside. If I want to see the DC monuments from the air, I'll fly into DCA, thank you. They don't pass out awards for living a mediocre life. Get out and have a good time. Go skydiving. read more

I don't think anyone who's ever been skydiving has ever said anything negative about the experience. This review is basically just going to be tips about how to make your experience better: 1. Get there early. I went the weekend after the HUGE storm that hit DC. Basically, the place had no power and they spent at least 2 hours trying to get their generator back to work. They finally succeeded and we got things started!! 2. They jump in groups of 5. Basically, each batch takes about 15 minutes. If you are on the 5th batch of 5, it will take you an hour and fifteen minutes to get up in the air. 3. When your batch is up next, they start putting the harnesses on you. They are fixed on VERY tightly and VERY securely, so you have nothing to worry about. 4. Your tandem instructor finds you. He starts the whole video process. You need to get the video. If you are a student, show ID, and they will gladly give you a student discount. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't be an asshole and NOT get your video. This is something you're going to want to show your kids. 5. You and your instructor walk to the plane. My instructor was Chris. He was pretty awesome, really nice guy, and really tried his best to keep me busy and entertained. I sat by the door, and was the first one out. 6. When you're on the plane, he locks you in at all 4 points, and then makes you tug on all the latches so that YOU know that you're tight in. Just FYI, if you're sitting by the door like I was, be aware of the fact that on the way up, the door will be open. This is the only way for them to cool up the plane since there is no AC. At a certain point, probably around 7000 feet, they close the door and give you the talk of what they expect you to do. At 10,000+ they open it, and you jump. 7. PAY ATTENTION to how they tell you to put your feet when you're jumping. Lace your feet inside the instructors and bend your knees. Before you jump, make sure your face is on your instructor's shoulder. Don't try to look down awkwardly because then air will go up your nose and it will be uncomfortable!! 8. JUMP 9. Tell everyone who will listen how much you loved every second of it. 10. Feel like a badass. 11. Seriously consider career as a tandem skydive instructor. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! read more

I had always wanted to skydive, so why not in my own backyard? I had a great experience here to summarize, but if you want to know the details I will walk you through my experience Driving up to this place takes you back a little. You'll think you're lost, but you're not. Once you turn onto the "skydiving center's" property you might get a little scared. There were barns filled with various plane parts and old cars. I thought to myself "man what kind of plane am I going to get into!?" When you check in you sign about a million waivers that explain that your life insurance does not apply to skydiving, you cant sue them if you die, blah blah blah, You're jumping out of a perfectly good airplane- If you get hurt you should understand this is a real possibility. Anyway after you give the forms back they weight you to make sure you don't need a tandem who can handle someone larger than 200lbs. I paid an extra 50$ for the "VIP" package, which allows you first jump of the groups, and they give you a water bottle and a tshirt Before you get in the plane you get a crash course in safety, then you meet your instructor. Then your all load into the plane! The ascend was actually fine, but you have to pretty much sit on your instructors lap, which is a little awkward. I was set to jump second, and while you're sitting with your instructor they start attaching themselves to you via 4 point metal clips that are located on either side of your hips and shoulders. The first jumper looked like he was going to back out, and started inching away from the door, however it was made clear to us that you have to jump because there's only so much time to get everyone out of the plane and have a safe jump, so his instructor put him into position and out they went! My turn! I stood up to jump...and my hips broke away from my instructor. He pulled me back and sat me down to clip me back in. While this is happening all the other instructors were talking me off the ledge telling me everything was okay ,and all I could think is "I'm not even freaking out...should I be freaking out?" Anyway, I jumped, I screamed, all was well, and I would do it again! read more

Wow. I have no idea why this place is rated so highly. First, the sign to this place was spray painted on a piece of cardboard. We get there and it's a family farm. There was a 16 year old girl hula hooping who also happened to be packing all the parachutes. There was no safety video - which skydiving places are required to show. The instructors were awesome, but even they all hated the management. They all commented on the fact that half the harnesses we were wearing were way too big for us. Lets talk about the plane. It had airplane duck tape holding the seems together..... Thank god we had parachutes cause I felt like the plane was going to fall apart any second. We almost ate our $200 bucks and didn't do it because of how sketchy this place was. Went last day of the season in October 2011 and had bought a living social. "Are you nervous?", my tandem skydiving instructor asks.. "Let's get it!" - I reply, as we quickly drop out of the small airplane into the open sky. We freefall at 120mph and it is within less than 60 seconds that I black out and reawaken to an open sky and farm fields below me. I mean, what a damn rush! The only reason I know this is because the instructors at DC Skydiving Center take fantastic video footage and photos for all their guests. Were the instructors awesome? Yes. Was the price right? Yes. Would I go back and do it all over again? Fo Sho! Few things to note: -If you are over 225 pounds: You will pay an extra fee ($30-$50) -If you are over 250 pounds: They may still allow you to skydive but you will pay a fee of $100 -If you want to buy pictures/video footage: You can only buy in a bundled package which will cost you $100. But $89 if you check in with Yelp, because of the $10 off coupon you get! -Typical turnover time for this place is 1-2 hours. So if you're appointment is at 10am, you can expect to be done at/or around noon! I owe Livingsocial for providing some of the most daring experiences in my life: Skydiving and White Water Rafting which were both offered at a relatively low price. AMAZINGGG experience. If this is your first time, do it here. My tandem jump was with Ricco and he was fantastic! He was really funny and definitely kept me at ease (or as much as one could be at ease as they are about to jump out of a plane...). I won't lie. It feels like you're about to die. But then it doesn't and all you see is lush greenness and amazing views. I could not have asked for a better first experience. I said I wouldn't ever do it again, but now that my heart rate is back to normal, I definitely will! Ricco, get ready. I'm coming back. No but I truly loved this! And make sure you bring cash to tip! These guys make a living off of these jumps since they're contracted and considering you meet them for all of five secs and then your entire existence depends on them, thank them. Jumping out of a plane is not something I do every day, so forgive me if my review is a little under-informed. DC Skydiving Center is on a tiny, privately owned airport in Warrenton, VA. A lot of reviewers said the small size and rural location of the airport made them nervous, but anyone who has done a lot of traveling has surely landed in a small airport before. Just because it has a grass runway doesn't mean it's unsafe. The check-in area is in a smallish hanger near the plane loading zone. We stood in line for what seemed like a very long time - there was only one young woman checking everyone in and she seemed to have problems with both of the check-ins in front of us. We ended up standing in line for about 30 minutes, even though there were only two other check-in groups ahead of us. However, once we were checked in we were free to walk around and hang out in the sun and wait for our jump. When we got hot we hung out in the hanger and watched the packers packing up the parachutes. The drop zone is also right next to the hanger so you can watch the other jumpers come in. My instructor, Dimitrije, eventually tracked me down, introduced himself and then strapped me into my harness. He had another jump lined up before me, so I had to wait around in my surprisingly not overly uncomfortable harness. Finally it was our turn to board the plane. Yes it is small, but not the smallest plane I have been on, and the ascent was surprisingly quick and smooth. On the way up Dimitrije reminded me of everything I had to do once we jumped, (i.e. how to position my hands/head/body) which I promptly forgot once I was sitting on the edge of the open door with my feet dangling 11,000 feet above the earth. But it didn't matter... Dimitrije fixed my flailing arms mid- free fall with patience and professionalism. I won't even try to describe the free fall as it's impossible to compare it to anything else - easily top 3 most amazing moments I have ever experienced. I asked Dimitrije roughly 10,000 questions once the chute was out. He seemed extremely knowledgeable, happy to indulge my curiosity and really enthusiastic about what he does. It doesn't hurt that he is also incredibly charming :) He definitely gets 5-stars! Back on earth, my friends and I hung out and chatted with the instructors while we waited for our videos. I wish I could have subtracted a half star insteads of a whole - my only complaint was that the check-in process seemed a little disorganized. Overall, the experience was incredible and my instructor made me feel entirely safe. DC Skydiving Center is a must-do for anyone with a bucket list! read more

I have to write an update for the DC Skydiving Center. I recently went back this June and finally got to do my skydive! I don't know if they were under new management, but it was a lot more well-run this time. My bf actually signed up with his friends, and I tagged along at the last minute. None of my friends wanted to do skydiving with me, and from my previous post, I was def not going to go back to DC Skydive. But this time around, they kept him pretty well informed. It was supposed to rain that day, but we didn't really see any clouds rolling in. As we were getting ready to drive out, we started to see some clouds rolling in. I kept saying it's not going to happen, it's not going to happen. But it did happen! We were all able to make our jumps! Fair warning - 2 of our friends went out just as it started to rain. Make sure you wear something that will cover you from head to toe. Apparently, it is very painful to jump while it's raining! Rain is pointier on-top! Luckily, we went before the rain came in, and it was exhilarating! I even purchased the video and pics from my jump. All-in-all, it was a great experience! I would go back again....although, it may not be any time soon! The first 30 seconds were probably the most terrifying 30 seconds of my life!! lol read more

I am impressed at DC Skydiving Center's ability to be the most annoying and rude people alive. In a Customer Service battle versus Comcast it's very hard to say who wins the award for "Least F%cks Given." I bought the Livingsocial with them back when Dinosaurs were still roaming around on planet earth and I've been trying to jump out of plane since and it seems to be impossible. I've had 3 separate times cancelled on me. Only one time did they provide me with a notification that it was cancelled. One time I even spoke with someone over the phone on my way there to confirm whether or not we'd be able to jump out of a plane and he said that weather was awesome and we would be able to and then arrived after driving 2 hours and it was cancelled. I recently had to re-schedule my personal jump (not my other friends who were still going in a group of 4) due to a family emergency and they hit me a $50 charge for re-scheduling and the guy on the phone said if I didn't instantly pay it my entire group would be cancelled and charged $200 each. I'm pretty sure he even threatened the life of a 1 year old corgi puppy as well while I was on the phone. That last sentence may be false. There's plenty of places to sky dive around here so I'd suggest going somewhere else. read more

Our experience was phenomenal all around. They've got it easy in the sense that skydiving is exhilarating​ and really unlike anything else, but they manage everything really well. From the start of the experience - booking: the website was up to date and well done. Courtney was friendly, knowledgeable, invested, responsive and informative. We received​ a call from Courtney two days prior making sure we were still going and​ could ask all of our questions in advance. My friend hadn't used a Groupon​, and Courtney went ahead and gave her the discounted rate. The drive from downtown​ DC is a little over an hour, but fairly easy. I was mildly surprised that we turned onto an unpaved road, but it didn't hinder the experience or quality in any way. We were the last 2 jumps of the day and paired with Randy. He did a wonderful job of getting us to talk/open up, laugh, and make us feel comfortable. At one point we mentioned that it was cold, and he went and got us gloves and a hat for the jump. Nothing but good things​ to say about him, and the job he did! The instructors can make or break the experience and he definitely made a thrilling opportunity all that and more. I went here after buying the livingsocial deal for a tandem jump with tee shirt, and I have to say although skydiving was amazing, the actual company was not. The booking process was very disorganized, as the company set up a special email address just for the LS customers, and our email requesting days/times was not responded to quickly so by the time I got a response they were all booked up. I ended up calling and was given attitude about how difficult it was for them to accomodate all the LS customers. Well, perhaps you should have a limit on the number of vouchers you sell?? After paying the $6 per person "booking fee" which is not included in the livingsocial, we ended up getting a time that was many weeks after when we originially wanted to go. Despite paying the fee and booking a specific time, we ended up waiting over THREE HOURS after our appointment to jump. There was no where to sit except the ground and it was very hot outside. I felt bad for the staff and instructors as they were working as hard and quickly as possible but there were just too many people. The jump itself was pretty amazing, however there are certainly no clear views of DC, as I asked my instructor to point out the direction of DC and I couldn't even see any obvious landmarks. The Virginia countryside was beautiful. Didn't buy the video. Felt safe enough. No place to leave your car keys/wallet/phone safely unless you have a friend there to hold it. Would recommend having a friend there to take pictures and hold your things. read more

This was the worst customer service experience of my life- which resulted is us not skydiving, and having to dispute the charges. Buyer beware. Let me tell you a story of what I went through. (1) I booked via Groupon. Awesome, on sale, I've gone skydiving before at one of their competitors and it was awesome, how different can it be? (2) I go online, see reservation times that are open on the day I want. Sweet. I can't use my Groupon. Ugh, now I have to call someone. (3) I call, say I can't use my Groupon online. Customer service tells me "oh no, you can't use those online, but we have to charge you $9 per person to book over the phone." Ok, I'm saving a few bucks, I can swing $18. (4) I ask to book the times I saw online (with availability). "Sorry those are reserved, you can't use those." For who? I'm looking at availability like a week before my jump. I think- it's strange, but whatever, I choose a later time slot, and express my concern for timing.. * now is an important time to discuss their 48 time window to change the timing of the jump. And how it will cost you $50/person to change a reservation. (5) about 46 hours before the reservation someone calls to confirm my jump time. I think- awesome! Yeah, we're both excited. This agent then tells me it looks like the jump will take 4 hours to complete. I thought this was strange, because I've been skydiving before and all tandem jumps were in and out within an hour. I ask if he can point to any information that said this in their documents, website, initial deal (anything that I read before or after I paid). He said no, he couldn't find anything THEN, he says "however, we have a VIP jump package you can purchase for $100 per person to guarantee you'll be first jump during your time slot." Oh. Now I get what's going on. I ask to reschedule and he responds "well, that's $50 per person." I said that was ridiculous and asked if it could be waived given the circumstances. He said he didn't have the authority to do that, but his manager did... but she left for the day. I asked for her number, which he refused. Ok, I get it, it's policy, and he was relatively polite. So I asked for her e-mail. I wrote her an e-mail immediately. (6) 24 hours later... no call/e-mail back. I call. 10 minute wait time, phone picks up on other end, then I'm hung up on. Great. I call again, 14 minute wait time. Picks up, and I go through the same process as #5 above. She tells me I can pay $100/person to get a VIP time (which are still luckily available!) or $50/person to rebook. She said she didn't have the authority to waive the fee, and couldn't get someone to do so. Awesome! I ask to cancel and for a refund, which I'm then told will cost $50 per person. It's very obvious what they are doing to Groupon people for extra $. read more

I was absolutely terrified to do this, i only got over my fear of flying and roller coasters a month ago- so jumping out of an airplane was a HUGE deal for me. My friend somehow convinced me to buy the livingsocial deal and do this before i move across the country. We got there about 1030, were scheduled to jump at 11, didn't end up going until almost 130- so i recommend doing the priority seating. Watching people go up, and come back down helped me though, every person came down smiling and saying it was amazing, thankfully i was one of them after my jump. They paired me with Chris- he could tell how nervous i was (i think every person there could tell how nervous i was.) He somehow in 20 minutes had me trusting him with my life. When i got in that plane, i knew i was in good hands. I was the first to jump in my group which i didnt want to do, after going i think that was the best plan considering i would have just freaked out more watching everyone jump out. I cant even describe the feeling, it was the most amazing experience of my life and DC Skydiving center made that happen, mainly Chris- but everyone there was incredible. It is pricey- but honestly i would do it all over again without the living social deal. We bought the video, which i highly recommend. They do a great job shooting it and we went home and watched ours probably 20 times each. If you are scared, have Chris as your instructor- he got me through it, so he can get anyone through it. read more

This was at the top of my bucket list, I have one even though I'm 27 :) Dimitrije was the greatest instructor I could have asked for. He was funny, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We were a perfect fit, because when I'm scared or nervous I like to make jokes and he went right along with me. I thought I might throw up on the plane ride and Dimitrije gave me a quick pep talk and I was ready to go! The skydiving center is laid back and everyone has fun. We got our dive video taped, which I would recommend, because I was so scared I don't remember the jump until the parachute opened. I will definitely go again if Dimitrije is my instructor. read more

This was amazing! I can't wait to jump again and I will definitely return to DC Skydiving Center. I just jumped this past weekend for the first time and I think I'm hooked. We had a 1pm time to be out there and probably didn't get on the plane until almost 3pm but that was mostly due to the size of the plane they had that day. The were only able to take up two jumpers at a time but it was lots of fun watching everyone land in the field. I was a little hesitate on getting the pictures since they cost $90/person but they were totally worth it! You will get around 200-400 pictures taken during the entire jump and they are really great quality. Sure some are terrible but that's because the camera is snapping constantly. But that is the fun in it since some of the pictures are hilarious! For $150 you can get both the video and pictures which they give to you on a DVD to keep. Can't recommend this enough but don't hesitate or feel nervous since this company was very professional. read more

Went here for my boyfriends birthday in Nov. Of 2014. Used a groupon deal for us both. So if you're considering using groupon to go here it's legit. I personally was skeptical because it was so much money and I did not understand from the groupon FAQs section how it would work. You buy the groupon. Than call and make a reservation. They ask for your groupon and voucher number and you be a reservation fee for each person. Alright now so besides that the skydiving was very safe and I wasn't scared at all. The reason I gave it a 3/5 was because I felt like my instructor wasn't as into as I would have liked. My boyfriend said the same about his instructor. And that's what makes the overall experience. If you have a great interactive instructor when your getting strapped up sitting in the plane jumping and returning back to the ground it makes everything more worth it. As for feeling safe I felt so secure. Would i recommend this location to a friend? No not this particular location. Based on my personal experience and my boyfriend's. For a once in a lifetime experience, this turned out to be real damper. We were hurried on to the plane with not much safety briefing, except for jump positions on the take-off roll. Customer service was rude and they were more interested in the getting the jump loads in. The worst part was, we had to wait for more than two and half hours to get our video just because they were having some internal arguments. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. DC Skydiving Center is run from a small, open shed like establishment and I only mention this to say, don't expect any frills (though they do have tablets for you to enter your personal information). I was pretty scared to do this, and signing the 5+ pages of legal mumbo jumbo didn't help. Add to that the looping safety video, and I was really starting to freak out. But after signing our lives away, entering our info via tablet, being weighed, and checking in, my friends and I were strapped into our harnesses by our instructors. The staff seemed very laid back, which I can see rubbing some people the wrong way, but they knew what they were doing. Oh, and a couple of side notes - the website doesn't have a ton of information on some of the finer details like their cancellation policy, etc. So I called the day before since the forecast was calling for rain. I was a little miffed at the laissez-faire answer of "we could cancel up until the minute before", so I agree with another reviewer whose dive was cancelled, that there should be two hours or so of a "go/no go" window. Also, other reviews that mention the upsell are spot on...it happens, and it's not necessary if you have a reservation. Don't let their talk of "it could take up to 3 hours" make you think you need to pay for the VIP package unless you just really want to. Just don't be in a rush and you'll be out in maybe 2 hours, tops. Anyway, after the registration process I was seriously starting to wonder what I had gotten myself into. But I had already purchased the Groupon, and there was no turning back (interesting how my Groupon was moved to the Redeemed section of the site immediately after making the reservation...usually I have to move it on Groupon myself, lol). Next up was the training where they tell you what to do with your body during the dive (heads up, you will have to get down on your belly!) Then, on to the plane, which seats up to 12 on two narrow benches (you sit in front of your instructor so they can get get you strapped to them during the ride up). I was last to jump, so I had plenty of time to watch everyone else and get extra nervous. One of the things I was so nervous about was the free fall. I kept imagining that it would feel like the drop on a roller coaster, but for much longer....and that's a scary thought even though I love roller coasters! But let me tell you, it was nothing like that at all. I'm glad my instructor actually made us jump and that it wasn't up to me, and once we started falling, it just felt like we were moving and the air was rushing past (air was very cool up there), but no scary plummeting feeling. It was actually very very neat. The only negatives were that the air rushing up my nose made me a little uncomfortable, and air was getting in on one side my goggles, which also made it uncomfortable. But once my instructor pulled the chute and we slowed down, I could really take in the scenery and the feeling of being so high up. It was so calm up there...absolutely amazing. I didn't get to steer us, nor did my instructor tell me I could take off my goggles (heard from others afterwards that they did, and I kind of wish I had too), but it was still a great experience. And landing was a cinch. My instructor took the brunt of the impact so that by the time I hit the ground, it was just like sitting down in a chair (you land on your butt). I got the DVD, but only because my dad offered it as an early birthday gift. Initially I thought a professional videographer would be jumping with us, but the video and pictures are taken with a camera strapped onto the instructor's wrist. Worth the hefty price tag? No, not in quality, but yes in having the memory of what I looked like when I jumped and after landing. I watched the video like 5 times when I got home that night. So for anyone with reservations, I say just do it. Yes you'll be nervous beforehand, but the feeling afterwards is absolutely priceless. I would go again so I can take in more of the experience!! read more

My first skydiving experience with Paulo (sp?), was a 4 star, but the overall experience was closer to a 3 star for the following reasons: 1) The 15 minute training was more like a 5 minute training, of which depending on which instructor was running through it, you received varying information. I actually listened in on 2. The first one I only learned how to position myself when jumping out the plane, and was told "we'd figure out the landing on the way down." The second provided much greater detail on the 2 ways of landing (e.g. sitting versus standing) and how to respond in both scenarios. I then heard one of the instructors critique the way that one of the girls landed could've broken the instructor's back. I couldn't help but think if it is that serious, shouldn't it be included in the training for everyone's safety? 2) Varying instructors - Each instructor varied in their approach and your experience really depended on that. Like I said, Paulo was great - some of the others seemed less friendly or maybe they just weren't really people persons. 3) The website says "views of the Capitol and much more on every jump." I didn't see anything that resembled the DC landscape on my jump, and the instructors that we had definitely did not know which direction to point us to. If you are okay with the above and have those expectations set, I would recommend giving sky diving a shot at this place. It also helps if you get a deal through Living Social or Groupon (which is what we did). read more

I've used this place twice to go skydiving. First one was before the groupon days when this place wasn't all that busy/popular. This experience was actually pretty interesting (jumped with a guy that went barefoot &tiny ass plane that just fit one jump) but I won't get into that detail. Second time, I took my co workers with me to jump together and they all had a great time. This time, I'm taking my brother and dad for belated Father's Day gift. You can call me a good daughter or perhaps not lol but I just can't stress how difficult it was to get someone on the phone to make a reservation!! I can get over the $9 per person for reservation but at least pick up the damn phone!!! I called and the thing says I am the 3rd person to be helped and wait however long, and then it tells me sorry, no one is available, leave a message! WHUT! :( Anyways, I personally am done with this place as I am bored of this jump. I'm ready for something higher, faster, prettier or whatever it is!! $89 for pics in cash, $99 otherwise. $10 off with yelp check in! read more

Nothing negative to say about this place just suggestions. 1. They should pave the parking lot. 2. They should make a walking path from the parking lot to the checkin building 3. Some type of electronic screen system should be put in place of the hand written name board 4. Electronic online waivers should be an option 5. They need loud speakers outside so folks can hear their name being called Aside from my own little OCD pet peeves, I enjoyed my first jump. My bf surprised me with this adventure for my birthday present and he even joined along. After we signed our life away and initialed several sections stating all the same thing just in different ways releasing them from liability should I die, my nerves calmed. Hell, the waiver was more intimidating than anything else. After handing over the waiver, we handed our license to the lady behind the desk. She weighed us and then returned our license. Told us to watch a short 1-2min video, gave me $40 or $60 cash (didn't count it) to give to the guy I was going to be strapped to and that was it. We didn't have a long wait. I think 2 groups went and then we were asked to step into our gear. Another person gathered all individuals who was going up on our airplane and ran through how we should fall out the plane and how our body structure should be. My guide called me, introduced himself to me, checked over my gear and walked me to the plane. My recommendations, ladies, tie your hair back in a ponytail and... have fun. Don't lick your lips if you have a video being done. The guy I jumped with was awesome. Had great energy and just a cool dude. You fall for about 15-30seconds before they open the parachute. You can pull the cord if you ask. Lastly, they hold your keys and phones (all other pocket items) behind the front desk in a little plastic bin, so take pictures and enjoy your time. I plan to go again but try out different spots... I would love to go higher and "free fall" longer. read more

Purchased this LivingSocial deal, and once the day finally came I was nothing but impressed from beginning to end. The instructors were fun and wonderful throughout the entire experience. Would definitely do it again. I wish the free-fall was longer it only lasted about 45 seconds. Now leading up the jump lets just say it took us about a year after purchasing the deal we were finally able to get scheduled with no cancellations and etc. I see this deal constantly runs through LivingSocial everyday seems like. So a number of people are purchasing the deal and they do care about your safety first but last minute cancellations are such a blower because its like you plan your day according to what you are gonna do. Thats the only reason why I'm giving them 4 stars. Otherwise they would have gotten 5 from me. Try it, you won't regret it read more

I jumped with Randy, amazing experience! He was very reassuring and did a really great job on the photos and videos, especially considering we were free falling. He gets 5 stars. The center gets 4 stars because it seemed really unorganized. I waited about 2.5 hours before I even got my harness and there wasn't much instruction as to where to go. I'd absolutely go again though! I paid about $280 for the jump, photo AND video package thanks to Groupon. -- There are 2 groupons. Definitely purchase the $149 (if available) because it's cheaper, apparently a lot of people make the mistake of buying the "$100 off for $49" or something like that. if you are an adrenaline junkie, this is for you! I loved my experience at DC Skydiving! I got a livingsocial deal and yes, they might cancel on you a few times due to weather, but better safe than sorry right? My friends and I went yesterday and wow it was so beautiful and perfect weather! I jumped with Chris who is wild, crazy and best of all, FUN!!! oh, and still safe ;) What more could you ask for when you're jumping out of a plane! Everyone is laid back and funny, including the girl that straps you in and you barely have any time to even get nervous. You get strapped in, get on the plane, hear some instructions and boom! you're out! It was a gorgeous view and such a fun experience, I would totally go back just to jump with Chris, but all of my friends said they enjoyed their instructors too so I'm sure all of them are great!! I went skydiving for my first time this weekend at DC Skydiving Center and had a BLAST! The instructors were professional and made me feel very safe (other than a few jokes here and there about it being my instructors second day on the job). My instructor, Lois was really nice, straight forward about how I was supposed to position myself and also listened to my request to not do too many spins on the way down. I've jumped twice now, once at Orange and once here. I really liked how professional this place was. Orange is member owned, so the vibe is completely different. The hanger here is MUCH smaller than orange, something I disliked. I loved my instructor here. If it wasn't for the annoying experience of scheduling the jump, I would have given DC Skydiving Center 5 stars. I had never been skydiving before, and bought a LivingSocial deal for half off. Apparently, thousands of others bought the same deal and it was an absolute nightmare making reservations. There was no way to schedule the jump online through their site so I had to call dozens of times - 99% of the time I was transferred to a voicemail, and they never called back. It was extremely frustrating. I understand that they had to deal with a lot of calls at once, but I imagine they could have set up a better system to deal with this! The actual skydive though was AMAZING! From start to finish it took about 1.5 hours. My instructor Dimitriye was great and helped me feel less nervous. He really made the whole jump a lot of fun and one of the most memorable, exciting, thrilling experiences of my life. Thank you Dimitriye! read more

Spoke to Alexis in their call centre and she lied to me twice about the written agreement of non refundable fee!! Its not written anywhere, then she changed the story and said it was verbal agreement . Then I spoke to her manager Jenifer and she says I agreed over the phone at the time of booking.
