We surprised our parents with a wedding in Central Park on May 15th, 2015 and needed a photographer. I chose Nicki because her website and sample photos were the style I was looking for, and because her super positive attitude when we talked on the phone made me feel completely at ease! We met at the Central Park bandshell, and took pictures in that area. Nicki knew a bunch of great spots (admittedly at first I didn't see what was so good about the location, but after the pictures came I was amazed!!! She knows her stuff!). Nicki was great on timing and we made it to the surprise wedding location on time. She captured everything beautifully and was so fun to work with. My husband typically is really nervous to take photographs but he felt so at ease with her direction. Also amazing - Nicki posted a preview with 5-10 shots on her blog for us the same day!! This was great because we wanted to let our extended friends and families in on the surprise too. It was nice to be able to post the link for everyone and share the day with them. Final photographs came 2.5 weeks later. She sent a link to an online album to download the pics. I forwarded this to our parents so they could download what they liked. So starting from the beginning...I found Nicki before I was even officially engaged. Lol! My fiancé and I had talked about a small intimate wedding and thought an elopement style ceremony with close family and friends would be best. So, I went searching. After getting engaged, I showed my fiancé Nicki's website that same night and decided to get in contact with her. We loved Nicki's style so much she was the only photographer we contacted. Luckily she was available for the date we picked out and after discussing pricing and scheduling with her, we went ahead and booked her. Nicki required a contract in which we would put a 50% deposit and we were down for it because we wanted to make sure we secured Nicki for our wedding date. When it was about a week leading up to the wedding, Nicki got in contact with me again to discuss final locations and scheduling. We planned for our ceremony to be at Central Park's Cop Cot, so we discussed other locations for photographs around the park as well. Prior to deciding on Central Park, I was considering other locations, but after seeing Nicki's photos, she was clearly a pro with Central Park elopements. And we knew we can trust her to get some great shots! The morning of the wedding, my fiancé was supposed to arrive at Bow Bridge before me so that we can do first look photos. But, I ended up there first so we ended up doing first look photos where I'm waiting and my fiancé walks up to me. I've only seen photos with the bride walking up to the groom, but we went with it and I loved that we did it that way. Our wedding was very casual, simple and non traditional, so doing things the unconventional way was even better. And that pretty much set the tone for the next few hours. We went with the flow of the day and didn't stress much on having to do things a certain way but just how things played out. As for photos, I knew my fiancé would be a bit awkward in front of the camera and we aren't really into posey pictures. Of course we had to some portraits with family and friends, but mostly the photos were candid and captured our natural interaction. Nicki gave us some direction and we really appreciated it since it helped set us up for some great shots. At the end of our three hours together, Nicki parted ways with us with a sweet gift. All in all, she was an awesome photographer and we are so glad we invested in her talents. Within two weeks after the wedding, we received our photos and were completely blown away! Initially, there were some people telling me that I could get other great photographers for less, but if there was one thing I would spend good money on for my wedding day is a photographer I can trust. Nicki was fantastic to work with on our wedding day. Not only does she create beautiful photos but she was easy to get along with, and comfortable to be around and work with. Nicki was a treat to work with. She knew just how to coax great pictures out of a couple of shy, stressed introverts on the day of our wedding, taking us on a walk through the nearby area to get a variety of artistic shots before the portraits and candids of the wedding and reception. We had a quirky wedding with some unique events, all of which she captured well. I think we forgot to warn her about the Worst Dance, where everyone competed to dance as poorly as possible, but her reaction time ensured plenty of blackmail material on our relatives. We did a mini photo session (25 minutes) with Nicki at Carl Schurz Park because I wanted professional photos with my six-month old (super cute age!). I also wanted the photos to be taken outside rather than in a studio. I found Nicki through a Google search. She is super responsive, worked with me to find a date, and is a total professional.
