Staff were welcoming and jovial, joking with us from the beginning. . Very lively fun atmosphere here. Capable of seating a group of 4-6 around tables if needed, We started with a Negroni and a gin and tonic, both made with Jenever. Our food orders were based on other Yelp reviews praising the rubs here: We ordered a normal spare ribs (pork) classic dry rub (comes with salad and two sauces (similar to ranch and thousand island) and a normal mixed. We ordered a baked potato on the side to share, which comes with garlic butter. They also brought plain bread slices on the side. The pork ribs were both tender and flavorful. My husband liked the classic dry rub better than the smoked. The salad was crispy thanks to celery slices. The garlic butter on the baked potato was creamy, strong, and addictive.. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. When we left, we asked the mamager where the sister bar was located exactly and he directed us across the street to Cafe GDG.the adventure continues! Highly recommend!

I found it browsing Yelp, and the name alone told me this was going to be a meat-forward kind of night. Fair warning if you're bringing anyone squeamish about restaurant names: The wife wasn't thrilled about it going in, though the food won her over fast. Getting there was its own small adventure. The place sits down a narrow alley, and our Uber couldn't get us all the way to it, which turned into a bit of a hike. That happened to us more than once in Amsterdam, using the exact address didn't always mean the driver could actually reach the door, so budget a few extra minutes if you're headed here. I normally default to steak, but the menu had a burger topped with pulled pork that promised more meat than a straight cut, and I couldn't pass it up. Delicious. Genuinely one of the best burgers I've had. But the wife's flat iron steak might have stolen the night. Flat iron is one of the most underrated cuts out there, and this kitchen proved it. She was still talking about that steak days after we got home, enough that I ended up buying flat irons from Costco just to chase it. The atmosphere is cool and a little edgy, dim lighting, a lot of character, and yes, some genuinely creepy decor scattered around, including an old doll that stares at you like it's judging your order. It ran loud, but not so loud we couldn't hold a conversation across the table. Service was good, just on European time rather than American time. Getting the check took a while, which threw us off at first, but that's the norm across the EU, not a knock on this place specifically. Pricey, but worth every bit of it. We'd go back without hesitation next time we're in Amsterdam.

Great spot for dinner!…read more This place is giving dive bar in so many ways, but the food quality is stepped up. It was very warm in the place, so keep that in mind if you're traveling in Amsterdam during a heat dome! We had a couple servers who worked with us nd both were kind and friendly. They didn't quite communicate with each other about our need to split the check a specific way, but it worked out in the end. We enjoyed some cocktails and beer (ranging from 9.50 Euro to 12 Euro), as well as the Pork Belly and Pickles to start off (21.50 Euro for 300 grams). Tasty way to start the meal. The three of us shared our mains and enjoyed what we had. The Favorite Ribs (24.50 Euro) were flavorful; the L'Incroyable 300gr (Ribeye; 34.50 Euro) was good, but our least favorite of what we ordered; the Le Cannibale Royale 170gr (burger) was super tasty. We also enjoyed some frites (4.90 Euro) and some delicious Mac n Cheese (6.50 Euros). Good time and good food!

At first his may seem strange . but simple and chic decor and top service puts us immediately at ease . the food is good, it is a mixture of Bio dutch. presentation may seem simple but it is really very good. It has been tried mixed up that I would never try. the price is reasonable at about the 25e/person for a glass of wine, three flat (the food is to share because it is an average amount) and two dessert. I will return for sure! and I recommend it.

The location is quite cool and I like the setting, an old school now used as event space and a restaurant. The restaurant space was big and industrial but with the light and the candles is was cozy and nice. The restaurant was not very busy and when we came in I said something like; "yeah I have a reservation, though it does not seem like I really needed one". The waitress got a little irritated by this :') But it was true, there weren't many people, sorry... We were seated and an other waitress helped us for the rest of the evening. She was very kind and helpful. The first thing I noticed was that the new winter menu was much more expensive than the summer menu I saw online. For dishes that are meant to be shared (OldSchool has the shared dinning concept that you see a lot nowadays) 19 euros is quite a lot. Well, alright, let's order. We started with some bread with oil and butter, a fish platter and a glass of Chardonnay. The fish platter came with baby octopus (not much taste, a little sour), mackerel (okay) and mackerel crème (okay). The waitress got us some extra bread for the crème, which was kind. The platter was nothing special and not something I would ever order again. After this we had the Gascone calf's meat with potato's. This was fine, but again, nothing spectacular. Still, it was 19 euros, quite a lot for dish to share. We also order cauliflower with cranberry sauce, hazelnut crème and hazelnuts. This dish I did really like. The other veggie dishes (which were meant as sides) also sounded interesting and creative. For dessert we ordered 2 desserts to share; a 'vanilla cranberry parfait in a sandwich of chocolate cookie' and 'tartelette of mandarin and almonds. The parfait tasted boring and the cookie was way to hard, it was not eatable with fork or spoon so you have to separate the ice-cream from the cookie and eat the cookie with your hands. The tartelette was actually very good but it was soooo small. Just lame. You would finish it in 3-4 bites. We paid 70 euros for everything, which is much more then you would pay for the same amount of food with the summer menu. The prices are really higher now! I hate it when restaurants do this when they feel like they are popular enough, I will give this place three stars because the setting was cool, the waitress friendly, I liked two dishes and the calf was okay. But still, I would not recommend this ever and I could have given 2 stars for this experience as well. It was just not worth it and there are so many restaurants that are much better!
