This was seriously such a cool place, and being right off the main road was very cool! It was a…read moregreat place to stretch our legs and take our dog for a walk in the middle of our long drive. There was only one other car when we arrived, so we basically had the whole place to ourselves. That was great for our dog, but even if it were busy, the area is wide open with lots of space to roam around. The loop we walked was for both walking and driving, but luckily there were no cars on it while we were there, so it was really nice to have that space just to walk. There are multiple other areas to check out. You can stop by to have lunch and stretch your legs. It really is a must stop! There are a few porta-potties on site, a decent-sized parking lot, and a small gift shop too.

And although. With some of the political messages on the sculptures, I must say that what this man does with metal and steel is very impressive! on the day that I visited, I was able to witness the dog sled race, and snowmobiles going by even though there has been some issues with the sled riders in the recent past by defacing some of the artwork. this place is truly a gem if you're ever in the area do yourself a favor and visit you won't be disappointed!

Local public libraries have been a lifesaver for me during the high summer weather. Yes, even in UP…read moreMichigan it gets hot. If it's sunny and over 80, it's too hot to work from the van so I've been spending time in public libraries like this one. This library is free, it's comfortable and it's clean. They have a free wifi that works very well and it's quiet enough that I can sneak in an occasional Zoom meeting without disturbing anyone. Free parking, too! You do not need to be a local resident to use the library, you only need to be a local resident if you're borrowing materials. [Review 17915 overall - 322 in Michigan - 1436 of 2022.]

LOVED the Michigan Reference section upstairs, and thought it was cool that they still use some really old tables and chairs in the nonfiction section! We thought that the bell collection is cool. Beautifully maintained inside; clean restrooms; quiet place to read with great views of Lake Superior upstairs. Reasons I only gave this a 4 star is that not a single staff member greeted us or asked if we needed help. I get that this is a touristy area and they're probably used to people just wandering through, or using the bathrooms, but I always appreciate being welcomed. I myself am a librarian and understand the value of welcoming the community in!
