I paid at the end, the receptionist called the team to confirm nothing else was needed on my end, then I left. The next day, I was notified that they forgot to charge me an additional fee from USDA, and was told that had I responded to Rosey's messages prior to our appointment "I would have known that". I triple checked our text chain, phone log, emails, and even PetDesk - none of which have anything from Rosey before our appointment on 3/3. Naturally, I questioned the additional charge (there was already a USDA fee that I paid for on the original invoice) and mentioned that I had no correspondence from Rosey leading up to the appointment. I received such a condescending and accusatory email back from her and was essentially told she would not help me in the future. I'm still waiting to connect with management and share screenshots showing that Rosey never reached out to me before our appointment. I completely understand that mistakes happen and I would have been fine to pay the additional fee. However, I don't stand for gaslighting and false accusations.

Unfortunately, our experience left a very poor & unprofessional first impression. AFTER ALL WE ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE!! Upon arrival, we encountered a sign at the front desk that was extremely condescending and immediately gave the impression of a business more interested in enforcing rules than treating patients with respect. There is a 10-minute grace period that is not clearly communicated beforehand, and if you are even slightly late, the clinic threatens to cancel your appointment and charge a late fee. We were only about five minutes late due to a long line and parking delays, yet we were told our appointment was canceled and a late fee would be applied. The staff at the front desk were dismissive and RUDE AF!!!! , particularly one woman who seemed to enjoy asserting power over patients. She even hung up abruptly on a caller saying, "I'll call you back, I'm busy." When we requested to speak to the manager, the response was only slightly better, still condescending, and we were reprimanded for explaining the situation. It felt very much like being treated as children rather than valued clients. For a clinic that presumably cares for animals, this lack of empathy, patience, and basic courtesy was courtesy was shocking. If you're treating your HIGH PAYING CLIENTS THIS BAD!? HOW ARE YOU TREATING OUR BELOVED ANIMALS? YIKES. The behavior at the front desk, combined with the aggressive sign, makes it very difficult to feel comfortable or welcome. We hope the owners and doctor are made aware of this, as staff attitude can seriously affect a clinic's reputation and patient loyalty. We are reconsidering whether to continue using this clinic and strongly encourage owners particularly more than poor management to retrain front desk staff on professionalism and compassion. Patients who spend significant amounts on pet care deserve to be treated with respect and understanding (especially during their first visit) Once this behavior is put on social platforms such as Yelp, Google. Even tik tok you will suffer greatly by allowing your front desk to abuse your clientele? What an absolute embarrassment. Take your disgusting signs down before you go viral.

Some of the vets are good, others not so much. We finally decided to switch to a new practice after experiencing enough errors and lapses in care to realize our dogs are not safe receiving care at Vet Villa. I strongly recommend avoiding Vet Villa. 1) Vet Villa prescribed Carprofen flavored tablets to our dog for a painful condition. We were not instructed to keep the bottle far out of reach. The dog found the pill bottle, chewed through the plastic, ate all the pills and suffered an accidental overdose. This led to 2 emergency vet visits, gastrointestinal toxicity that kept us up all night for 5 nights, and large out of pocket costs. But we are glad our dog is still alive. The emergency vet told us they always counsel pet parents to keep this medication bottle far away from the pet, and that they have seen multiple similar overdoses. Vet Villa did not acknowledge my feedback to change their counseling practices to prevent this from happening to others in the future. 2) A skin biopsy was performed in a completely inappropriate fashion by a veterinarian who acted as if she had never evaluated a skin lesion before. I can speak to this because I am a practicing dermatologist. The vet's approach as she examined reminded me of a first year medical student evaluating a condition for the first time. I did not contradict the vet's recommendation and gave it a chance. After all, I am a human doctor, what do I know about veterinary care. As expected, the results returned inconclusive due to the incorrect sampling method. The out of pocket cost was significant. 3) Bloodwork was lost and had to be re-drawn -- no explanation for why it was lost. 4) The practice's own pharmacy does not share prescription records with the office. I was asked in a very accusatory way to provide proof of a prescription that had been continuously refilled by Vet Villa using their own pharmacy for several years.

I'll be taking all 4 cats and husky to Dr. K now. From my experience with other vets and Dr. K, I can tell that Dr. K really cares about the pets, and it's not just another dollar sign in his eyes. He is very knowledgeable and takes his time to explain things to you. I don't feel rushed when I'm talking to him. Other vets I've talked to, I feel that they just want to give my pets treatment, and want me to leave asap so they can get to the next patient/$$$ in their pockets. I did not feel this at SGAH. My cat was in for surgery, and after I dropped her off at 8:00 AM, I didn't hear back all day, even past their closing time of 6:00 PM. I was worried that something may have gone wrong. I received a call a couple of hours after they closed, telling me that they decided to perform the surgery on my cat at the very end of the day, so Dr. K can make sure he is not rushed, and doesn't miss anything. Unfortunately, he said my cat's vitals were dropping during the surgery, and he had to close up my cat asap. He got a biopsy of the liver, which was the primary goal, but he also wanted to check out other things, like the gallbladder, while he was in there, but he didn't have enough time since my cat's vitals were dropping during surgery. I'm glad that my cat survived the surgery. I feel that if my other vet performed this surgery, my cat would not have made it out alive. Dr. K was at SGAH performing surgery on my cat a couple of hours past their closing time (even some of his staff were there until 8:30 PM! when I picked up my cat). This right here says that he cares about your pets as just as much as you do. If not, he would have either rushed surgery or postponed it until the next day, etc. This shows that Dr. K doesn't clock out when 6:00 PM hits. He is there until all of his obligations for that day are completed. I'm grateful for Dr. K and the staff. Dr. K is very knowledgeable, friendly, and compassionate. His staff is also knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming. SGAH's rates are very fair and reasonable, which is why they are always busy!

Reposting -I agree with many of the reviews here. Long post, but the ending is worth it…read more The pricing at this clinic is outrageous. The staff appear professional, but the entire experience felt like a slow, calculated attempt to upsell me on every possible test--most of which had nothing to do with the reason I came in. My regular vet referred me here because it was close to home, and my cat needed a partial ear amputation due to skin cancer. All I wanted was a quote. Instead, the doctor refused to give any estimate until I completed a list of "recommended" diagnostics. Stage 1: Bloodwork -- nearly $700. Then suddenly my cat "had a heart murmur," and I was told anesthesia could kill him unless I pursued more testing. Stage 2: Full-body X‑rays + EKG -- another $600. Results came back normal. Great. But then came the next push: a heart ultrasound, because "X‑rays can't show everything." At this point, I had to ask myself: Do I even have a real choice? If the ultrasound confirmed a murmur, I'd be stuck in a no‑win situation: risk anesthesia or let the cancer spread. It felt like a manufactured dilemma designed to pressure me into more procedures. The doctor even guilt‑tripped me with, "If it were my pet, I'd do the ultrasound." That was the moment I realized how manipulative this was becoming. By now I'd spent over $1,300, and the ultrasound alone was quoted at $450-$600. Finally, after all of this, I got the surgery estimate: $2,200-$2,700 for a small ear amputation (see pictures) The breakdown was absurd--nickel‑and‑diming for every tiny item imaginable. Friends urged me to get a second opinion. So I went to an animal hospital on Figueroa. That doctor listened to my cat's heart twice and confidently said there was no murmur at all. He immediately offered to perform the surgery and gave me the price on the spot. $500. Total. Including overnight stay, biopsy, and medication. I was stunned. And furious. After being told my cat had a heart murmur, after being pushed into unnecessary tests ($1,700), after being quoted thousands ($3,000 plus) for a basic procedure... another vet told me the exact opposite and charged a fraction of the price. Mind you this was the price 7 years ago. I walked away feeling completely misled. Fellow Yelpers, be forewarned: don't let friendly interactions fool you.

We did physical therapy and she was able to use stairs again, and while she still had some stroke issues she always so happy to be alive - so I thought I would know when she was ready. One evening, she started throwing up, and spent the night outside - which she had never done, hiding under a bush in a hole. No more wagging, no more joy. I knew she was ready. She was the most joyful loving dog and I wanted her to pass calmly with her pack in our yard. I called him and gave him her history and once I mentioned she had taken tramadol, he said just take her off tramadol and she'll be fine - then started ranting about tramadol. I was thinking he didn't hear the whole history and tried to repeat it but that one word seemed to be some sort of trigger. I told him she hadn't taken that in a while and after just about pleading for his help he said, well I'm busy and I can't come anyway, but good luck to you. During an already miserable time he made it so much worse and filled me with such self doubt. She was a large dog but I managed to get her out of the hole, and carry her to my car and then into Highland Park Animal Hospital. The HP vets were kind as always. They went over her history and reassured me I wasn't "rushing into things" as Grote suggested and that changing up her meds would not make her all better. I would have rather she passed at home in the back yard peacefully and also so my other dogs could have understood what happened to her - they waited for her to come home for a long time. Honestly, it's been a year and I'm still very upset.
