I really appreciate Dean and his team with the quality of service that they have provided. I went here for a haircut yesterday. My hair is thick so I asked him for a layered style. He made the edges look soft and I like how my hair looks balanced on both sides. He really took his time to check if my hair is even. They shampoo your hair, cut, then style it at the end (either flat iron or curl). As an introvert, I also appreciate that there wasn't any unnecessary personal questions unlike other salons. I was able to relax and it felt like an ASMR experience. Dean really knows how to work his hands with his scissors. A master of his craft. So I live in California, and our salons opened for one day and closed the following day. I was supposed to get Japanese straightening done to my hair after my wedding in March which also got canceled due to Covid. I was really getting tired of my hair. It grew out so long already that it takes me 2 hours from blow drying and then straightening. Anyways, I searched for anyone who does Japanese straightening in Las Vegas. I found couple of salons but Dean was the one that made me feel extremely comfortable. So I scheduled my appointment, took a day trip to Vegas from Cali and went for my appointment. I do not regret anything and I love love love the results of my hair. It took roughly 4 hours which was actually quick given the length and thickness of my hair. He gave me a lot of dos and don't for my hair which I really appreciate and honestly I would not hesitate to come back again. I usually cut my hair by myself because I don't really trust hair stylists in Vegas and I'm pretty cheap. So this was basically my first salon experience. I wanted to trim my hair since no matter what I do, it looked suck. I made an appointment with Honey J and she was very friendly, honest, and talented. Since she didn't have to cut much, she educated me how to use an iron to style my hair. I see she does amazing balayage and dyes from Intagram, too (@___honeyj). I don't usually write Yelp reviews but Dean O Hair definitely "deserves" one. I was visiting Vegas for a friend's birthday and this place completely ruined my trip. I came here for what I think a very basic haircut - to thin out my hair w/o losing lengths. What I got was not even .1 % of what I expected. As shown in the picture, my hair is a lot shorter than before, a lot of layers that make it very poofy at the top and thin at the bottom, and I feel like I look 20 years older now with this haircut. WORST HAIRCUT EVER. This is not the end of the story. I told the hairstylist Gina how unhappy I am with this haircut. Then the guy (I believe he's the owner Dean) came over and insisted that this is a good hairstyle that fits me. He even pulled all my hair back and said I look "scary", and this hair makes me look better. Seriously? I feel humiliated and offended. He was very rude and arrogant and kept on saying the hair looks good on me for maybe another 5-10 mins. He also insisted that they kept my hair length same as before. Entrusting your hair to someone to cut is always a big risk to take. I'm so relieved but also glad that I decided to come here for a haircut-- not a trim. I waited two weeks for my appointment and it was worth it. I showed him a photo reference of how I want my hair to look and Dean helped me figure out the length. I got a long bob (didn't know the exact style until he actually said so) and he recommended that the back be cut to my shoulders, no less. My hair was down to my hip so I was probably being too overzealous for a new change. I went with it because I trust his judgement. Overall, he does a wonderful job. I want to give chef kisses because it was that exquisite. All the other reviews also stress it and I'm doing the same. I appreciate and admire how fast but meticulous he is. My Mom was the first one to reccomend Dean O Hair. She raved about the hair wash and the message that accompanied it, the atmosphere, and the stylist duo. I went in not sure what to expect because I've never properly taken care of my hair. I admit, it's low maintenance and I let it do its thing. But recently I've taken more interest in maintaining its health as the dry Nevadan heat is starting to take its toll. That being said, my experience was really nice! When I walked in there's a door bell to buzz you in (and out), the atmosphere was clean and contemporary. There were three people working, I never caught any of their names but they were rather friendly. The guy was the one who did the washing, cutting, and can offer some advice on good cuts. The scalp message and shampoo process was a little rough in my opinion but I do have a fairly low pain tolerance. I'm sure he could lessen the pressure but I didn't mind it much. The scent of the products they used were also pleasant -- something akin to fruity. The cut process came after that and I dare say that he was very meticulous! I didn't expect to see him take so much time or see so much effort being done to my hair. He seems to really make sure that everything is up to his standard before showing the finished product. In addition to the wash, there was subsequently a blow dryer phase and a little bit of a styling moment with the flat iron. I was thoroughly impressed and will go back again! 55 USD was my total not including tip and they took off 5 inches off my ends while touching up on my bangs. read more

The husband-wife team work very well together. Efficient and streamlined, YES! I got the japanese straight perm/ hair straightening/ permanent straight/ magic straight, whatever you want to call it. It took 3 hours and was extremely well-priced. They do not deviate too much from their website! It felt like a steal as I also got trimmed. I am VERY happy with service and results, my scalp didn't get burnt with the flat iron, the scalp massage with rinsing/shampoo was relaxing, and the finishing trim/haircut was even. Wife has an easy to talk to personality while Dean definitely gives me the hair stylist from the east coast vibe. While I live in Albuquerque, where getting any Asian hair styling/treatment would be a risk, I can totally justify flying to Las Vegas to get a re-touch up. I will update my review in 6-9 months. I don't ever write reviews, but my experience here has been the first time I've ever cried looking at myself in the mirror. I chose to come to this salon because I figured the stylists would know what to do with fine, straight Asian hair. Instead, I received the worst haircut of my entire life, and have spent the last two days crying because my hair was cut far too short to even repair. This salon does not respect your wishes. I showed a picture of a mid-length hairstyle with curtain bangs. I told the hairstylist, HoneyJ, that I wanted shoulder length. Instead, she cut it like a bowl up to my chin. To add insult to injury, she styled it by curling the hair into my chin, making me look 40+ my age. The so called curtain bangs she attempted to create look like a child took craft scissors to my hair and ran it down my hair. There are long pieces of hair that are still intermixed with short. She only cut the right side of my curtain bang (singular), because she said she would "see if it is good" once she dried and styled it. She never did the left side. Suffice to say, I feel humiliated. I would never come back here again. The only redeeming factor is that I can still barely put my hair in a ponytail until my hair is long enough for a respectable salon to fix. read more

I come every 6 months to 1 year for the Japanese hair straightening treatment and a haircut. This is the only place in Vegas I trust with my hair. It is very important to find a salon with experience in the Japanese treatment if you're looking to get it done because if they don't do it right then they risk over processing and damaging your hair. If that happens then you pretty much have to wait for it to grow out (It's happened to me before somewhere else). Definitely worth the price and strongly recommend this salon. Was there the other day for my FIRST hair cut done in Vegas and it was highly recommended to MUST book with Dean. He tried to show off his skill with the scissors, but didn't focus on the length of my hair. Even without my glasses I could tell it was different on both sides, and he tried to correct it, but by the end I was still wondering why he was curling my hair in different angles, was this the latest Korean fashion trend? Obviously not, he was just trying to cover up his own mistakes. Every time I touch the sides of my hair, I'm reminded that this level of skill cost $60 and that I can do better with myself. If I could give more stars, I would! I went to Kay with really damaged bleached hair that I thought was beyond saving. It was so bad that I couldn't bring myself to tie my hair up because the texture was the worst feeling. I honestly thought I would have to get an undercut to save what was left of my hair or cut it super short. But Kay patiently worked with what I had and now it's feeling so smooth and more manageable! Great haircut (I got front bangs). It took exactly an hour. They had me wait in my car until they were ready for me. They cared that I took care of my natural hair and even gave me styling tips! I've never given a one-star rating before and have kept bad opinions to myself, but this place merits a first. I had a terrible experience here where I was treated in a condescending manner by the owner, who literally turned his back to me and stalked off in anger mid-conversation. There weren't any other clients in the studio, and I can't chalk it up to any cultural or language barrier as I spoke in Korean. As someone who's very conflict-avoidant by nature, I was pretty shocked at the time, but in seeing other Yelp reviews it seems like this behavior is not atypical of him. I was so excited to get my hair cut by Dean because of the reviews I read here and unfortunately, his lack of pleasant attitude, was already enough for me to say "whatever" you think is good. Dean is the worst, ive never hated someone this much until this guy. I made it very clear to him and his staff to keep the legth of my hair and he still cut it very short! It took me years to grow my hair, some people wont understand but the time and efforts and money i put into maintaining my long hair just to have Dean cut it. He thinks he's such an expert but really, he only knows one type of length for styling awful layers, he kept messing up in one side of my hair so he had to cut the other side shorter to even them out. i kept telling him please keep length, i like my hair very long over and over, he just nodded and gave me attitude. This would be my second time coming here. Gina is fantastic everytime. I always get a cut and perm. There is a language barrier but I feel as if she truly takes the time to understand what I want and our small talk is never awkward. She is delicate with your hair and pays a lot of attention to details. Please ask for her if you need a perm! The salon itself is always clean and bright. Its quite minimal with no fancy equipment, just a cart of scissors and hair accessories. You get a shampoo before your cut which always feels like a mini-massage. I've been going to Dean O Hair for about a year now. Before I went to Dean, my hair had been bleached a year prior through a different salon, I had grown my hair out and was having routine hair trims to make my hair more healthy since dyeing it blonde fried my hair. During my first appointment, Dean and his wife walked me through the state/health of my hair - the ends where it was dyed was dry and brittle but they didn't want me to chop most of my hair off. Instead, they'd cut a bit of the ends off and I would come back a few months after to cut off the rest of the dyed hair and dye my hair a light brown - my desired hair color. They listened to my concerns and would always suggest what is best for the health of my hair. Now, almost a year later, my hair feels healthier than when I first booked my appointment. Edit: Went back again and was really disappointed this time. It ended up really choppy and outdated, unlike my first cut there that I really liked. I mentioned it being too long in the back at the end and was told it was fine. It really wasn't and I paid to have it fixed somewhere else today. The female owner there is so kind and friendly. I really like her and she's the only reason I can give any stars. Sadly I just don't think I can return after yesterday. My hair was thinned all over the top and then left very thick underneath. The stylist who fixed it today took 2 hours to go through layer by layer to try to make it a more smooth transition between layers. We move every two years or less to a new state. I rely on Yelp reviews to find a stylist. I went to Dean O Hair because of the great reviews and low price point. Dean did a reverse lob on my hair and straightened up the bangs I have been cutting myself. It ended up being a bigger change than I had planned on but I am so happy with it. My hair was just long and boring and has a style now. Dean's wife was so friendly and personable, and his kids were there during this Saturday appointment but remained quiet and well behaved. I love supporting a family business! At the end of the cut, which took well over an hour because of his precision, he also went over what products he used and how to recreate this style. This is the first time I come here. I had to wait for about 3 weeks to get my hair cut. So make sure you have to get an appointment few weeks before the date you plan. When I came in, they were very nice and Dean knew what style I want. He cut the hair really well and I really like it. The only thing I did not like is that he did not style the hair well to make it look exactly like in the picture. So when I got home, I had to style my hair again by myself. Thanks to all your positive reviews, I selected Dean as my new hairstylist and I am so glad I did. He is absolutely amazing! He is meticulous and takes his time to focus on your hair. His hands are magical and sometimes they move so fast, it's mesmerizing to watch. He cut my 6 year old daughter's hair (she is high function autistic) and although she got a bit antsy, Dean kept working away to ensure her cut and style were spot on. I hate changing barbers. It's like eating milk and cereal everyday and then one day someone pours your cereal into clam chowder instead. Plus I'm Asian so I guess not every barber has enough experience with my type of hair. I've only been in Vegas for half a year but for the most part I stuck with LXVE. They're good, but I just wanted a change of style and go back to a more Asian style of disconnected undercut/combover. I want to grow my hair out and that process for Asians is a little more of a pain in the ass because our sides grow out sticking straight out instead of down along our scalp. My hairs also very straight and goes down naturally, so trying to train it backwards kills me inside. Since Dean is Asian as well, he is extremely comfortable with my hair type. But most of all I just really enjoyed the whole experience. Got there for my appointment, and (I believe it's his wife who helped me?) was lead over to the hair wash station. Dean was meticulous during the cut. He did mention my hair wasn't long enough yet for what I originally wanted so I think he just gave me a cut that would eventually lead to that style? Anyway, I felt like he was actually going over my head layer by layer, inch by inch, to not miss anything. Very different from the more American way of a quick razor/scissor job. Then I got my hair washed once more and was lead back to the chair to have my hair blow dried and styled. All for a men's cut of $25. Very worth and well done and I will be back. read more
