This was my first time going to The Parlor Aveda. The staff was very nice and friendly. I have thick, curly hair and booked an appointment with their curly hair specialist, Kelly, whom I had met the week before when my sister got her hair cut. I explained to her beforehand that I had recently taken off 6 inches and just needed light layering on the crown of my head--no extra length taken off. My hair was sitting about 3 inches below my collarbone, and she agreed to keep the length as requested. However, during the cut, she took off another 3 to 4 inches all over and thinned out my hair using a bridging technique. When she finished drying it, my hair sat above my shoulders with a little more length in the back, looking more like a shag haircut than what we discussed. It is far shorter and thinner than I wanted, and it is going to take a long time to grow back the volume and curl definition. If you have thick or curly hair and value your length, I cannot recommend coming here. I left feeling completely unheard and deeply disappointed with the final result. read more

It's always a pleasure to sit in Kellie's chair for a haircut. Professional and friendly describes her approach. She'll gladly have a conversation if that's your style, or set to work silently if you'd rather. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to listen and guide you to the best cut. It has been 3 weeks since I had my hair done by Jade and I STILL am so disgusted and cannot even look in the mirror without wanting to cry at how she ruined my hair! This review is strictly on Jade, avoid her at ALL costs! She is impersonal, rushed and WAY to big for her britches. First off I saw her IG and was impressed, now I'm convinced her photos are filtered. I met with her 2 weeks prior to the service so she could look at my hair which by the way had not been touched in a year so it was all virgin hair and I explained to her my last stylist moved abd I asked for an ash blonde balayage, haircut with choppy ends, a money piece and dimensional color. She said no problem and quoted me $385 for everything including toner. I left a $150 deposit and scheduled for 2 weeks later. Day of service, Jade didnt seem to remember me or a damn thing I asked for which is where I should have left. I had to repeat myself , show her the inspiration photo again and she again claimed she could do what I asked. I KNEW I was in trouble when not only did she have 2 other people she was doing the same time as me, but when she started doing nothing but just slapping bleach on me with no care to where she was placing the foils, no teasing, no care to placement. She literally was just slapping foils on my head. Then when she went to wash it she says " you are going to be more neutral". Right there is knew she was sugarcoating the fact she messed up! NEVER in the 20 years I have had my hair highlighted has a stylist said this and NEVEsr has my hair come out SO awful!!! Then she doesnt even blow dry me, her assistant does, THEN my so called " haircut" I swear to god she literally combed my hair forward on both sides and just cut straight across!!!!! Are you f$&kin kidding me!!!!! Holding back tears, and so so upset, she then tries to say to me " oh well yeah the brassiness you see is normal but people get really mad about it". Noooo really? Which tells me I am not her first victim. She did nothing but rushed the service, took ZERO time and effort at what she was doing, tried to sugarcoat her mistake and carelessness, and THEN the icing on the cake. When I went to pay the $385 mess she made which was the price she quoted at the consultation she then tried to charge me an additional $90 saying she never discussed the haircut ( again the straight across 3 minute chop) at the consult. BS!!!!!!! And even if she hadnt how in the WORLD could she justify a 3 minute chop a $75 haircut!!! Get real Jade! This woman is living WAY to much on her high horse and doesnt seem to care at ALL about her work, just money. I left there so mad and upset I immediately addressed the owner and manager and the ONLY saving grace to this was they did actually refund me and agreed Jade would be addressed for her horrible service and what she did, that is the only good thing I will say about this salon is the owner took responsibility for his stylist ( and i use the term stylist very loosely Jade's horrible work) . So if youbare going to come here stay FAR away from Jade, she is very unprofessional in more ways than one. read more

Elodia was amazing during the consultation and was able to blend all of my ideas and inspiration in a way that is cute but still manageable for a low maintenance girl like me. I was really worried because when I've gotten highlights in the past, they've often been too warm toned for my complexion. But Elodia made sure that I would get the exact tone I wanted, and the longevity from the style. She also walked me through her thought process and described what she was doing in detail every step of the way to make sure I would be happy with my final result. I came here for a curly cut, after having my under cut grow out. My hair was almost to my waist, and the regrowth from my undercut was just past my shoulders and I was looking to have my hair cut to be one, singular even layer. I was booked with Morgan (sp) who I was told was their curl specialist. I asked some pretty general questions about my hair health and any advice, and she states, "oh, well I don't really know any products, but what you're using seems to be working", that in itself was a little unsettling, you're supposed to be the specialist here. We continued with some similar conversational pieces, and then boom, my haircut is done. No special services outside of the normal shampoo, no style, no product. Just to get home and realize..... my hair is botched. It's uneven, choppy, and just a disaster. I can't wear it up or down, without the unevenness being noticeable. It's by far the worst haircut I've ever had, and I'll never be returning. Word of advise, don't go here for a curl cut. read more

Went into the salon on saturday 5/3 for my first appointment for a little trim haircut since it's been so long! Upon arrival, the area is so cute and inside the salon was even cuter! i absolutely loved the energy! I was greeted the receptionist, Jayda - she was so friendly and made me feel so welcomed! she checked me in and provided me with a nice cold water bottle! she even hung up my jacket for me! I had my appointment with Morgan! she was the sweetest! she explained to me the process of the appointment and even went into further detail of explaining the exact products she was putting in my hair. she could tell i was pretty nervous but she was so warm and friendly, i felt so comfortable and confident in her chair! My hair came out more amazing than expected! she put her opinion in when i would ask if i should do something different since my hair is so thin and fine - i really appreciated the professional feedback. She basically said my expectations were unrealistic and that I would need two or three sessions with her to get what I wanted.. She took half of my hair and died it very dark, then gave me weird low and highlights AND CALLED THAT BALAYAGE!! She charged me $450 for this! A co-worker recommended me since her whole family goes there for haircuts. So I submitted a request online with specific instruction that I need someone experienced with thin hair due to hair loss. I was called to make an appointment and was informed that everyone in the salon was experiencing in that area. So I was offered a second level or a third level. Obviously wanted the most experience. I went in there hoping for the best. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed which I appreciated. I did stand at the front desk for at least 5 minutes before I was informed by the front desk lady that she would be with me in a moment which in fact was very quick. I was told to have a seat was never offered water or tea. Which I was expecting because that's what my co-worker said she is always offered to her upon checking in. When I went back with Brittany I told her that another hair salon chopped my hair and I wanted it fixed. I showed her the picture for inspiration that I had given to the first hair dresser that had destroyed my hair. She immediately expressed that it was out of question it wasn't going to be possible. Which I already knew. I wasn't asking her for that exact same haircut I was just simply letting her know what I had showed the previous hair dresser. She did try to convince me to just wait until my hair grew out. What? I firmly told her that I just wanted it fixed. She started telling me that pretty much she would try her best but she would only cut one layer so my hair wouldn't go any shorter. Ok? I was just desperate to get it fixed so I just let her do whatever she suggested. She took me take get my hair shampooed when she was done she said to go back to her station which I just sat there thinking hmm well I guess no hand massage. She repeated herself and so I did. While I was getting my haircut other patrons were staring at me which I'm used to. What I found a little disturbing and felt uncomfortable that one of the employees was also staring at me. I felt that was a bit unprofessional. I'm not sure if it was my own self-conscious but I still felt the stares so I did my best to just to look down. Brittany seemed mmm niceish. I guess I was unimpressed because of the beginning of our encounter. When she was blow drying my hair she was using a round brush and she was doing it so rough that I felt the needles from the brush prickling my scalp it actually hurt. She kept pulling my hair hard. Which I felt uneasy because one of the rules of hair loss is to be gentle and no pulling. I said nothing to her because I didn't want to seem hmm or sound like a Karen. I just left her to do her job. At the end I was very thankful. I mean I did like the fact that she fixed my hair and did what she said about doing her best. I believe that and also believe that she attempted to give me some style so my hair could look fuller. So I'm writing this review as a learning experience on both sides. I definitely learned a lot when going to another salon. I also would like to recommend in the future to make it a more pleasant experience for my hair loss sisters. Provide more professionalism, a gentler approach, and being more discreet to make them feel more comfortable. Take into account that women with this problem already feel physically and emotionally sensitive about their hair. Be more compassionate so that they feel more confident. I got my black hair died pink by Kayla, no complaints she is a very nice lady. The price ended up being around $450 which seemed high but I shopped around and the one other place that replied quoted a similar price. I went back for a touch up which cost $250 omg am I poor because that seems so high . I got it anyway. At 250 I'd expect my freshly bleached and dyed roots to match the rest of my hair that she did last time mind you. It doesn't, they were clearly too orange because instead of the end result being magenta like the rest of my hair it's more of a peach/orange color While I was getting my hair done I requested a curly cut for my daughter (9 yrs). Kayla recommended someone else. Smh she washed and cut her hair in like 10 mins. Didn't stye it at all. It was $75 dollars for a curly cut why would I pay that if you aren't gonna style it? I was hoping to learn a thing or two and she did nothing. She trimmed it, swept and left. They then asked if I wanted to tip her? Why? I just paid $75 for all of 10 mins of service and my daughter was devastated because she cut way more than I expected (I am less mad about that I may not have been clear.
