I later filed a dispute with my credit card company. To their credit, Wind River has now reversed the unauthorized charges and resolved the billing issue. While the situation was frustrating and could have been avoided with clearer communication upfront, I do appreciate their willingness to make it right in the end. I'm updating this review to reflect that resolution and to acknowledge that the company ultimately acted to correct the issue.

I spoke to one of their customer service reps. and was told that $249.99 covered 1hr of work. There would be an additional charge for any work conducted over the initial hour and for any equipment that maybe needed. After conforming this information, I agree to the charge and scheduled an appointment on 6/13/25. When the tech came out, he looked at the issue and stated that my main sewer line needed to be snaked for an additional fee that was over $400.00 dollars. I advised him that I was not told this when I called to schedule the appointment and that I would call to get this resolved. The first serv. rep. put in a ticket with the issue. The tech advised me that he spoke to his supv. and if I was not willing to pay the additional fee he would not be able to complete the work. I asked to speak to his supv. Justin and was told that he(supv.) didn't see a ticket from my call and he would not talk with me. The tech. left my home without completing any work, but they charged me $249.99. I had to call several times from 6/13/25-6/26/25 and speak to several rep. I was advised that the sewer drain manager and then the general manager would call me to resolved this, but they never called me. On 6/26/25 I was advised that they realized that I was misinformed and I will be receiving a refund for $249.99 in 2weeks. All the customer service rep. that I spoke to were professional and very helpful in trying to get this issue resolved. The ball dropped with the supv. Justin Hightower and the general manager not addressing the issue. I nor even customer should not have to call a company over eight times before an issue is finally addressed by management and resolved. That is Not the way any company should be conducted business. Due to this, I do Not recommend this company and will submit another review once I receive my refund.

Thursday morning I woke up to a small flood in my basement. The sewer pipe was blocked somewhere…read morebetween my house and the street. There only two plumber/sever companies I have ever dealt with in the past and I didn't want to use either of them because of past experiences. I wasn't really sure what to do so I jumped on Yelp and found All In One Drain Cleaning. I called and got a live person, Bill, who said that someone would be coming out my way in a few hours. Blake was the person who showed up, before noon. He tried snaking the pipe with a monster snake and had no luck. He then had to send a camera down the drain to see what was up. He told me how much it would cost and my eyes rolled into the back of my head but I had no choice and had to go with it. I am really shocked at how much it costs to send a camera down the pipe for 5 minutes. Yikes! Anyway, the camera revealed that the pipe was clogged solid so that was a good call. The next step was to blast the blockage with a water jet. Because of where my drain cleanout is located in the basement, there was no way to blast it without flooding the basement. This is where his boss, Bill, stepped in and a decision was made to dig up the front yard and install a cleanout pipe connected to the main pipe. The whole job took several hours and was finished around 7PM. It cost an arm, a leg, a lamppost, and my firstborn but at last, I was able to shower and poop without worrying that the goods would end up in the basement again. I guess certain services are just very expensive. I don't have any point of reference as to the price point because I wasn't able to "shop" around, although I am also not sure I would want to anyway. Bill and Blake a couple of very hard-working guys and they know their craft. On top of that, they are very personable and bicker like an old married couple. I would strongly recommend them to anyone who is dealing with serious plumbing or sewage problems.

I did my due diligence when I needed to have a section of our sewer line replaced. I got quotes…read morefrom 4 different companies in the Amherst Area. Just getting the estimates was a bit of a struggle requiring me to make many follow up calls. To be fair, all the companies were not great at communication. Karl's bid was the lowest and they seemed to have a ton of experience in this work. The work was delayed by eversource because there was a utility pole nearby - not Karl's fault. On the day of the project, Karl's arrived when they said they would, completed the project in a timely manner and did an excellent job of leaving our yard clean and freshly seeded. I was looking over their shoulder some of the time and they answered all of my questions. The whole dig was done skillfully. Then, to my surprise, when the final bill arrived the total we were charged was $1,000 LESS than quoted! I'd use them again and recommend them to others.

I would not recommend Karl's Excavating…read more My husband and I bought a house in late 2021. The septic system had failed a Title 5 inspection and needed to be repaired. We agreed with the previous owner that the repairs would be done after we moved. The previous owner, who was paying for the repairs, selected Karl's Excavating to do the work, and we ended up having numerous problems dealing with them. Karl's took a saw to anything in our yard that they thought was in their way, without our permission. We were told that in order to access the back yard, Karl's would need to cut down some trees, and they told us which ones they would cut. However, on the first day that they came to do work, they cut down a tree that they had not told us they were going to remove. If they really needed to cut it in order to access the back yard, we would have given them permission, but they cut it without even letting us know. Similarly, there is a wooden retaining wall and attached set of wooden stairs in our back yard near the septic tank. Karl's took a saws-all and cut off the bottom step. Not only did they not tell us ahead of time that they would be doing this, but they did a sloppy job of it, leaving a jagged edge where the step met the wall. Again, if they needed to do this in order to access the septic tank, we would have authorized it, but they never gave us a heads-up. Additionally, when we later mentioned that we might just take out all of the stairs, the workers warned us that we might not be able to do that because the stairs--one of which they had cut off without permission--were structurally tied in to the retaining wall. No one at Karl's seems to be in charge of project management or communicating with customers. The only person who seems to have any idea what is going on at Karl's is the owner, Steve. But Steve does not communicate effectively with either customers or his own employees. When we would reach out to ask questions, Steve would rarely get back to us, instead delegating that task to one of his employees, who didn't have adequate information to answer our questions. On a couple of occasions, when we mentioned to workers at our house that we had emailed Steve to ask him a question, they rolled their eyes and told us, "Good luck with that." I'm sure everyone at Karl's was sick of us trying to contact them, but we wouldn't have kept contacting them if they had just answered our questions. There are other problems that I could get into, but this review is long enough as it is. So far, we haven't had any issues with our septic system itself, so hopefully the work that Karl's did on that was okay. But nothing about my interactions with Karl's gives me confidence in the quality of their work.
