Was there on Sunday, December 16. I'm in the bakery/bread section eyeballing the selection of cake loafs on the shelves. Then one of the employees working in that section steps right in front of me to look for a cake for another customer without out even saying excuse me. I love this place. I love the garden center, I love the food. I LOVE IT. So far I have tried the Fall Chicken Salad Sandwich, the apple cider donuts, and a prepackaged meal of penne and meatballs with red sauce. And I have stocked my new apartment's shelves with some of their foods....a great place that I am sure to frequent often! My new fav activity is to pick up one of Dearborn's sandwiches and drive to Mount Mitchill Overlook and sit outside to enjoy my lunch. Used to love this place until I ordered take out for lunch today and ended up with undercooked pink chicken and RAW bacon. Called up and spoke with someone about this and they wouldn't even refund us for the terrible food we received. I will no longer be coming here. read more

Been going here for many, many years (foods only). Our "go-to" place when we dont want to go to Wholefoods (a fav), the local supermarket or Wegmans (a fav). Dearborn is manageable, has a great selection of everything,altho can be a bit pricey we prefer here to Delicious Orchards. So glad to see they rennovated. a VAST improvement. A highlight there is the sandwich station which I feel about the best around here. Deli is also very good with vast selection. Prepared foods also good and reasonable we feel. Produce excellent Cheese dept ok but nothing special baked goods very good We dont shop here for gardening stuff...VERY expensive. Forget Christmas trees here...holy crap are they expensive here. I hear they don't pay staff well here (a friend worked here)...based on this we prefer Wholefoods and Wegmans for social responsibility. read more

Terrible. Not what it used to be. I could cry . The meats are totally different, The macaroni salad's not the same.. It used to be home made, now it's not. All the salads have changed drastically for the worse. I want the old dearborn back ! The new owners said they would keep the old and just make to better. NOT!! They must be politicians because they did the exact opposite. The Bakery is still somewhat good. However, I do see in the Bakery that they are sneaking in "other cakes" not baked on the premises. Dearborn Market is a smaller scale, small-business specialty shop. Yes it's a bit pricey and everything they have is expensive, but this is definitely a store that prides itself on quality. We have been going there primarily for their nursery and I can say that their plants and vegetables have all been of a high quality and a good durability. For the most part their staff is very knowledgeable when it comes to growing and maintenance and that has helped us immensely with our garden. We purchased a raspberry bush from them and they spent the time with my wife to make sure she got the right one, the right soil, the right planter and that she knew how to care for it before we left. Definitely a good spot to go if you take pride in your gardening. read more

LOVE Dearborn Farms, excellent fresh produce, prepared foods, bakery, greenhouse. They often have free samples around the store to tempt you-it usually works. The produce is very fresh, better than most supermarkets, can be expensive, but if you just buy the things on special you are getting better produce at good prices. There are many workers there that can repackage to a smaller size if you wish. I would rather spend more on produce if it's good and it is here. Great bakery with fresh bread, rolls, cookies, brownies, cakes........they are know for their pies and there are several varieties. You can even buy individual slices of pie. Big deli & prepared food section with the best chicken salad. All white meat with some celery, must be made with rotisserie chicken because it has a lot of flavor. The seafood salad was also great, had whole shrimp in it. In the deli they use Black Bear meats priced comparably to other supermarkets. The deli is always packed. The greenhouse was recently expanded, has all kinds of flowers, plants, gardening supplies with a very knowledgeable staff. It's beautiful in there, bright with flowers everywhere............it lifts your mood right away. The only slight complaint I have is that they no longer carry their own brand of apple cider, it tasted like fresh apples. Now they sell some generic brand that tastes like anything they sell at a supermarket. oh well, I will have to go to Delicious Orchards for my cider read more

Dearborn Farms has gone downhill!! Gross prepared foods that no longer taste like they did with the original owners. They used to make amazing german potato salad. Nope no longer making it. I've gone to this store on more then five occasions and the customer service SUCKS! Not only was I followed throughout the store but I was told at the deli that I needed to purchase my food and come back with a receipt to show that I paid in order to get my food heated. recently received a gift basket from my sister for my wife as a get bwell present. It contained fruit, walnuts, 5 small pieces of hard candy and 2 small jars of jelly that you get 6 of at most diners. The fruit was not in any way, shape or form what one would expect from Dearborn. Pears were pock marked, the "honey;' tangerines were dried out, etc..I hope the local deer population enjoyed it. I suggest you try Delicious orchards in Colts Neck or Costco to get a basket that's first class. read more

I'd give five stars if they didn't have such long lines in the deli. The food is great and that's why so many customers line up, but they don't process quickly. And no matter how many customers are piled up, there's no hurry back there. Anyway it's lovely to visit here; the produce smells great, they have a great selection of prepared foods EXCEPT THEY DON'T SEEM TO BE MAKING THE ROASTED GARLIC ANYMORE which is an absolute tragedy; the greenhouse is like a fantasyland. There's butcher meats; I've never gotten any but they look fresh. There is fresh produce, and lots of other specialty fancy foods that the average store won't have. They use to be 5 stars... I am very disappointed that Shoprite changed the recipes and does not use Hellman's mayo anymore. They should have a sign posted that they are changing the ingredients and keeping the prices. I noticed something was different and I asked today. Love this place! Always fresh and delicious food! I definitely recommend if you go there to get the whipped cream (homemade) with fresh fruit parfait. It is so good! Pretty clean! Also a great place to take photos with your family and friends (especially during wintertime) Pretty big place! I think they give hayrides during the fall, has pumpkins that you can pick from, and a corn maze! Great experience for families! Staff is friendly! They also have a bakery that is so good (their cheesecake) Has a green house (i think it is called) and a outdoor plants section! I think they have fish too! I recommend Dearborn so much! read more

I can't stand when a store sends out a coupon and when you get to the store nobody knows what it applies to. All of the workers stand around and say, "humph, I don't know, I haven't seen this yet?" Have you seen this so and so?" It goes on and on and they eventually either let you use it or they don't, it is up to their mood. Note to Dearborn, make your coupons clear. If it applies to all, say so. If it doesn't say so. P.s The wait at the deli is ridiculous. read more

I previously wrote a review for Dearborn Market which conveniently disappeared. The pies and food are not cooked fresh on the premises. I asked an employee and she told me they were shipped to them frozen and defrosted and put into Dearborn packaging and sold as fresh baked on premises. You can get better options at Costco for much cheaper. You are paying for something they are not offering. You can buy frozen pies at Shop Rite for much less money. Also, the management there is rude. I could hear them speaking poorly of staff on the floor. Very unprofessional. read more

I sent this concern to Dearborn. As is typical with Saker Shoprite no reply.... Their employees are always complaining to customers and do not always have the best customer service skills Today I was shopping in your store with my 12 year old daughter. We went over to the cheese counter about 430 pm today and my daughter was trying a piece of one of the cheese samples and I was about two feet away from her looking at other cheese. The lady in charge of the cheese was extremely nasty to my daughter and in a horrible tone said "are you using the Tongs ". Her tone was horrible and I am sure she never would speak to an adult that way. My daughter has manners and knows how to handle herself. Unlike adults she has seen there taking samples with their hands. Your staff should treat young adults the same. If she felt the need to say something to my daughter she could at least have been polite about it. Maybe she needs to get some manners and learn how to talk to people. Also I did purchase coselaw the other day and it was horrible. Not fresh and soggy. On top of that someone from your staff mentioned to me that you are ruining the store and bringing in lesser quality from shop rite. Not sure we will still keep shopping at your store. We can get better service and treated better elsewhere. read more

We went here for the hayrides. It was literally 5 minutes long and it had a not so lovely view of the dumpsters and garbage littering the rear of the building, thankfully it was only a few dollars. Picked a pumpkin, went inside and was just as unimpressed. This place tries to be like Sickles and Delicious Orchards, but fails miserably. It is dirty and run down. The produce was SOAKED with water, probably trying to add weight to the scales. Everything in the 2 aisle specialty section could easily be found at any grocery store, at a much lower price. The deli looked good, but was dirty. A quick look inside the meat counter showed me dead fruit flies and water dripping from some unknown source, yuck! The bakery section was more of the same, fruit flies on the bread and inside the case, double yuck!. The staff were friendly enough. I think I'll spend my money elsewhere. read more

ok so i spoke with one of the workers there and I said can I speak with the manager the worker was very nice but seems the woman jo anne didn't come out. I wanted to say I found a dead roach in the saram wrap bagged chocolate cookies! Also they were stale I asked if they are fresh the worker told me know everything here is shipped to us we just take it out and bake and re-wrap it! I felt so bad for her instead of waiting for joanne i said I just wont come back. Yes it looks clean but it's not what it seems. I laugh reading the other yelp folks I imagine they are family and friends jotting there comments. Anyone in the mood for a chocolate roach cookie? Disgusting I should have stuck around to talk to joanne i imagine after the worker explained what happened she sat back there thinking of what to do and I just lost my patience and left. The Italian food and "delis" in this area of NJ are so bad that the people in this area wind up accepting the Italian foods they put out! Some things are good like anything they import from NYC like breads, cheeses and sauces but when in comes to the availability of real Italian foods like homemade dried sausages, sopressata, pancetta etc they take the quick way out and offer horribly made imitation Italian foods! Their homemade foods are hit or miss, the produce is usually good, they have a huge selection of foods of all different varities and their farm is fun for younger kids durung Halloween. read more

I just used Dearborn Farms to cater my daughter's shower. Joanne was a super help! The food was amazing! Our most favorite dish was the chicken saltimbocca: chicken with spinach, prosciutto, cheese in mushroom wine sauce. Outrageous! I stopped by this place last weekend because they were promoting "price roll backs" - amazing deli and meat counter. Picked up some of the best veal cutlet I have ever had! Great deli selection and the produce was top notch. They also had some samplings going on. Greenhouse looked pretty cool too but I didn't have time to look too closely. read more

I normally would give Dearborn a good review for their meats and produce. I have been going there for years, and know that they can be pricey on things(the prices in the nursery are outrageous). This is understandable on some items that would be considered specialty. Today I bought 2 pineapples for $7 a piece! I didn't realize that the going rate for a pineapple is between $3 and $5. I went back to the store because I thought the price difference was crazy even considering they are a small store and can't buy in high volume. I was told they can't take back produce, and have to charge that price because of what they pay for pineapples. They consider $7 a fair price. When I explained that I shop there often and that this may drive me away they didn't seem to care. So needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere. I had already bought several stale packaged items there anyway, so this incident put me over the edge. read more

I had my entire Thanksgiving dinner catered from Dearborn. I should have been worried when I first called to place my order and I was put on hold 4 or 5 times so I just decided to go in and place my order. The woman at the "courtesy counter" was not at all courteous. She was extremely snippy and rushed me into placing an order. It was extremely expensive too! So when I go to pick up my food, the entire set up is crazy and unorganized. After getting my food I went into the store to pick up some last minute items and was repulsed by how understaffed the store was. The poor cashier even told me that they weren't getting a break even though they were working over 8 hours. I haven't even gotten to the best part. The food was DISGUSTING! It either had no flavor, too much salt, or too much pepper. I have never been so dissatisfied with food before. I will NEVER go back to Dearborn again. I could go to Shop Rite, spend half the amount of money and could have had a better Thanksgiving. read more
