I went to buy flowers and fruits on Sunday and, I was charged $125.00 for everything. I thought the price was alittle off since i didn't buy that much stuff. I looked at the receipt and noticed the lady had charged me $45.00 for each bushel of roses so a total of $90.00 for two bushels of roses that was only supposed to be $17.00 each bushel. I returned to tell the lady she made a mistake she apologized and went to get the manager. The owner asked for my debit card he told me he would debit the $90.00 back on the my debit card. Since he was the owner I didn't think he was going to rob me. I slid the card into the machine. I woke up today to check my account and I was negative $125 and also negative $90 as well. I was scammed and robbed I will not be returning to this grocery store I am appaulled how they run their business. read more

Went there and had my debit card declined for a $66 purchase because the card had only $64. Then used a credit card to cover the difference. The cashier charged the entire $66 on the second card, there by double charging me. Now trying to sort this mess out with the bank. Never going back. read more

I would do all of my food shopping here if they sold meat. The produce, especially the herbs, are very fresh. I see them re-stocking it every day. There are some tropical fruits too on top of the usual apples, pears and oranges. I particularly like buying the pomegranates. I snagged 2 for $1 once. Lots of sales on berries even during winter time. The fish market is very affordable as well. The prices are at least $1 less per pound compared to the Shoprite in Kearny. Without meat, I usually spend $20 or less every week and I come home with four or five heavy bags of groceries. They have a lot of spanish and asian sauces/condiments too. They lack some of the usual canned stuff I get on Shoprite. Even so, I much prefer shopping here than anywhere else in Newark, such a bargain read more

This is a nice go to spot for produce. The quality is often good, (except for onions and avocados). The prices often beat the supermarket chains and the quality is the same if not better. This place also has seafood and butcher. I'd give this place five stars if the selection was a little bit wider. read more

By far the best place for produce in the area and the prices are simply amazing. Why didn't I discover this place sooner! Come here for produce- fruits and veggies. They have some meat and seafood as well as a few other products. The meat and seafood could be good, I didn't really check it out. However for the other products, I would suggest going to a different store especially since Golden Farm doesn't have a huge variety. But oh man, the produce rocks. A box of fresh, crispy spring greens is $1.99. And it lasts way longer than any of those bagged varieties (which are also not nearly as fresh). All kinds of fruits from apples to oranges to more exotic stuff like guavas. They also have some dairy, the prices are not the best but not bad either. Oh and eggs- fresh, NJ brown eggs are a bargain too. Don't remember how much I paid but it was less than most other stores I've shopped at. It is a little annoying that shopping here means you probably have to go to at least 2 stores since they don't have everything. But for the quality and price, it is well worth it. I look forward to coming here every 10 days or so and seeing what fruits and veggies look good and enjoying them for the week. Small parking lot right before the store. It's pretty busy but you should be able to find a spot. If you live in Newark or nearby, check out Golden Farm. You won't regret it if you enjoy fresh fruits and veggies. read more

We LOVE this place for our fruits, produce and snacks. Wish they sold meat :/ Always great prices, it's like shopping at a farmers market! (not the Hoboken expensive kind). They are fast at the check out and always have what I'm looking for. We come here weekly and leave with 7 bags of fruit/produce and it costs a mere $40. I love, love, love Golden Farm. They sell their produce at whole-sale prices, so it is much cheaper than anything else you will find in the area. They also have a really great selection. I just saw Asian pears and white yams. I know you can't get those things anywhere else in Newark. Finally, everything is supremely fresh. There are always guys picking through the bins, re-stacking and throwing out anything that isn't up to snuff. My favorite purchase there (which I literally buy every week) is their mixed greens. They actually come in a little plastic box rather than a bag like Dole. And they don't smell like chlorine! And they are half the price of Dole or other supermarket brands. I highly recommend them. Finally, the prices and quality of the fish and meat are also top-notch. Newark is really fortunate to have this place. It blows all of the other stores in the area out of the water. read more

I've been going to this market since I was a kid. As with any produce market, the quality and prices fluctuate. They have a great selection of fruits, vegetables, and fresh fish. They have a good selection too (but limited) of dairy products and dry goods (beans, pasta, teas, etc). I appreciate that over the years they have added products that become trendy, such as local honey, bee pollen, coconut oil, wider variety of nuts, seeds, and grains. They also have a florist in store. Also a decent variety of international products to accommodate the local ethnic groups (Portuguese, Brazilian, Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Mexican). read more

This place is incredible! I can't believe it took me so long to find it. They have a very good range of produce - lots of fruits and vegetables, including things like coconuts and cactus pear - and VERY good prices. Examples? A box of strawberries for $0.99. A pound of Spanish onions for $0.59. Two pints of blueberries for $3. A big box of fresh rosemary for $1.29. They also have a decent fish market that looks way fresher than anything at the local Pathmarks, Stop & Shops, or Shoprites. They have lobster, crabs, salmon, shark, tilapia, shrimp, etc. They have limited dairy products, but they do have duck eggs, quail eggs, and chicken eggs (organic and all-natural). They also stock dry goods and specialty condiments/cooking ingredients, such as Sesame Seed Oil and Roasted Seaweed. Unfortunately they don't have organic milk, nor do they have fresh meat. Credit cards can be used for purchases over $5. Parking is free at a large lot a black away. read more

So if you are in Newark and you are not looking to drive out to the burbs or the city your produce shopping options are limited. You can try Pathmark or Shoprite but the fruit and veg selection and quality is bad to acceptable. This is not some organic/humanely treated/locally grown I want to feel like I'm doing my part in saving the world store. The Golden Farm Market is also not a famer's market but a produce and fish market. They offers a decent selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, plus they have a fresh fish market in the back. From what I have bought in past trips the prices and quality are equal or better then the supermarket. Plus the fish market is nice, the fish is largely on display as whole fish but they will filet or make other preparation if you like. Given the location I would go here or Sebra's for my produce shopping. read more

Yes, Golden Farm is where I do my shopping. I can't believe I just now discovered it this year. The prices really are unbelievably low. I've never spent over $26 here. They have a large selection of produce and it's super fresh. Items seem to be bigger and greener than at regular super markets. They have the most gigantic apples I've ever seen. I look forward to coming here, the selection will have you wanting to grab at every thing. read more

Better option from the area's limited choices (IE: James Farm Market in Kearny). Golden Farm is local for me (under 1 mi). It is pretty much a given that any halfway decent farmer's-type produce market will usually be a better option than supermarket produce. Prices, selection and quality are ok. Parking is easy when I go on weekends. Hours could be longer, but are not terrible. If there are any better options nearby, I would (seriously) like to know. Until then, this seems to be the best option. read more

Great prices and very fresh produce. Prices on other groceries are very reasonable. My favorite items are the packaged spring mix, kale and spinach salad containers. They have fresh spinach in a bag and loose. I buy my ginger, garlic, tofu, cage free eggs, tea, and sesame snacks here at very low prices. Staff is very efficient. No complaints. Grateful! I also learned they now accept food stamps, which is wonderful. Much fresh, healthy food for the dollar. read more

This is my very 1st review on yelp. However, I was SO impressed with the price and quality of produce at GFM that I HAD to write a review. 1.) I bought almost 4 lbs of carrots (I juice)... and, do you know how much I spent???? $1.99!!!!! That is just insane! I also bought toffee butter cashews ($6.99), beets, blueberries, and ginger. In total, I spent less than $13! Now... I am an AVID Whole Foods shopper (and, it will continue to be my grocer of choice); however, I will probably start buying most of my produce from GFM (I hope they have organic produce at GFM... I'm not sure yet, but I'm going back soon and I'll find out). Definitely a GEM in Newark read more
