I am extremely glad that I chose her because my daughter is finally living with me. We were both extremely grateful that she was willing to take our case with all of these child support and custodial issues. Before my daughter and I became her clients, we thought we had a very good and strong representation from a very big, powerful, and reputable law firm that was pretty well known in the area. However, after thousands of dollars and 12 months of waiting, we found ourselves very disappointed. I was on a hunt for an exceptional lawyer to move our case forward yet again. That exceptional lawyer we were looking for turned out to be Ms. Cherry. She is a superb lawyer with a superb team. Ms. Cherry and her team (Ms. McKenzie and Ms. Hutchinson) are always on top of everything. They moved our case forward at the speed of light while keeping us up to date with what's going on and making sure we understand every step. Most importantly, they have an outstanding reputation and relationships in the law community, including the judges. After 5 and a half months with her team my daughter is not only living with me, but she is also in a new and better school district. She had finally returned to the happy and worry free kid that she used to be. I am telling you as a parent: no amount of money can buy that feeling and happiness of seeing your child light up with joy. I could also feel that Ms. Cherry was not in it for the money like many other lawyers. I am currently in a very tough financial situation, I am a recipient of SSDI, and her team knows that. They are very conscious of your financial capabilities and I am sure I was underpaying her team for the results we were getting. One thing Ms. Cherry told me that I will never forget is that I did not need a male attorney, but a good attorney, and that is so true. If you are looking for a professional, focused, knowledgeable, confident, experience, caring and friendly lawyer, Ms. Cherry is an obvious choice. And believe me when I say that because I have had my share of different attorneys. With that being said, I would like to say thank you to Ms. Cherry and her wonderful team. My daughter and I will always be grateful for everything you have done for us.

She was incredibly rude…read moreand disrespectful with me as I tried to share with her a sensitive legal matter regarding a deceased family member. She repeatedly cut me off as I was talking, asking questions with roughness which I would have shared if she just let me talk. I never even got to state my request. She was so insensitive and I can't believe this is someone that works in family law.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS OF ELAINE LEVINE TO SAVE YOURSELF ANGUISH, TIME AND MONEY…read more Please take the time to read this to save yourself from needing to pay again for a different attorney. As a doctor speaking, I rarely give negative reviews to other professionals. In researching an attorney to prepare our wills and trusts, I did read the one negative review for this attorney prior to hiring her and brushed it over. It ended up being a perfect synopsis of our time with Elaine. (Most positive reviews for this firm are for her partner, whom we never met). Let me explain our circumstances. We hired Elaine Levine to prepare trusts and wills for out family. Initially, Elaine was courteous and did exactly what she said she would do. She was friendly, supportive and very easy to reach. She responded well to our numerous questions in a timely and efficient/effective manner. UNTIL she wasn't present for the final signing and we were rushed through the process. Witnesses were present and signed each document PRIOR to any reviews or signatures on our part as they were "in a hurry". We raised objections but they were quickly dismissed. We asked for detailed explainations of each document we were signing and felt very rushed. The final wills were never presented for review. We were told by the person filling in (?who she was, she introduced herself once but we never got a clear understanding, ? think she was some kind of assistant) near the conclusion of the meeting that she was in a hurry and needed to go to pick up her kids! Elaine was sick, but had been sick over a week. The practice clearly had time to notify us to reschedule. All for naught; we wasted $3,500 on USELESS wills and trusts that need to be redone by a special needs attorney for our son's special needs trust. Elaine was very well aware that we needed a special needs trust from the beginning and she (copiously) informed us she was NOT a special needs attorney. However, we had no idea of the implications of this (special needs attorney should always be seen FIRST to avoid wasting your time and money). We felt abandoned after our final meeting and then the relationship with Elaine turned hostile when we confronted her with the situation regarding her having to have KNOWN that the special needs trusts need to be done FIRST. Despite our reaching out regarding changes of beneficiaries not going througg and a request to review a brief 2 paragraph letter to family explaining what the documents were, we were rudely rebuffed by Elaine that her services had been concluded. The percentages of distribution to our non-special needs children in the conduit trust was INCORRECT. When we tried to rectify this, we were told in no uncertain terms that our relationship was now "concluded" (ie, payment had been received, I assume) - leaving us with INCORRECT, useless documents. Would definately NOT RECOMMEND Elaine Levine!!!! I should add that a while after everything was completed (we thought), an associate in her office reviewed our file and reached out to say a part of the paperwork was never received. This paperwork was mailed to us and when I called back for further instructions, Elaine got one the phone and was exceptionally rude, stating that since she read my review on line and knew how I felt about her, she wouldn't be helping us any longer and that we could just keep the unsigned paperwork her office sent. She made it clear that she had NO INTENTION of completing our file. She made sure all communication thereafter was terminated. HORRIBLE PROFESSIONALISM!!!!!!! What a waste of time and money!!!! Sickening.

1 Star -- Disappointing Experience (WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND)…read more My experience with Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor ultimately became very disappointing, particularly when it came to billing and how my concerns were handled. As a business professional, the business acumen that this firm possesses seems to be subpar at best. I remain clear on my stance that I personally recommend seeking another firm other than SM&P. I retained the firm in July 2024 for a family-law matter. The representation eventually concluded in September 2026. Throughout the representation, I received detailed invoices and paid the amounts requested, including the firm's final balance. My concerns arose when I began reviewing several of the charges more closely and asked the firm for clarification. Among other things, I questioned charges involving work on a Parenting Plan, separate file/pleading review entries, and certain amounts reflected in the final accounting. I made a good-faith effort to resolve these questions directly with the firm. I specifically communicated my concerns and asked for explanations. The firm's position, however, was that the charges were valid. I was not satisfied that the specific questions I raised had been adequately addressed. Individuals involved in the billing/handling of my concerns included Chantel Owens, Randy Sabatini, Jamie Kleber, Brigitte Tryonoviech, and Christine Wagoner, among others. My concern isn't that I expected legal services to be free or that I object to being billed for legitimate legal work. My concern is that when I questioned specific charges, I expected clear, specific explanations for those charges rather than simply being told that they were valid. I ultimately paid the balance, but I remain dissatisfied with the billing experience and the way my concerns were handled. I am sharing this review so that prospective clients understand that, in my experience, carefully reviewing the invoices and asking questions about billing is important. If you are considering another firm, GO WITH THEM. This review reflects my personal experience and the firm's documented position regarding my billing concerns.
