My visits were always made easier by their kindness, patience, and gentleness. Luckily at the time, I was working and had good insurance, so no worries. At one point, I found myself without dental coverage and used their practice financial program. The price was reasonable for two cleanings/year and discounted interventions. Well this year I was able to purchase insurance off the marketplace and was assured verbally and online that Denzinger took the insurance. However, when I tried to use it I was told "we haven't taken that insurance in six months". Ok well someone screwed up, nothing I could do as I was told repeatedly by the receptionist and office manager. (And it "wasn't their fault") I asked what the cash pay price would be and was told "since you have periodontal disease" it would be $175.00 for a cleaning. The problem being I have NEVER been told I have periodontal disease. I've always been congratulated on the good condition of my teeth and gums. The point of this review is a dental practice can have outstanding hygienists and doctors however it's still run by the business office! So if you have good dental insurance or a pocket full of cash you're just the patient they want. Longevity and dedication do not matter. I would have purchased their practice financial plan but that went up by $300.00. Just too much about money and not enough about caring.

But this was recently remedied with a visit to my new dentist, Dr. Moldoveanu at Modern Family Dentistry. I was able to schedule an appointment about a month from when I first called, and to the office's credit, they called and texted me a couple of times when cancellations popped up. I didn't have to wait for my appointment to start when I showed up on the day of my appointment. Dr. Moldoveanu did my cleaning and exam -- plus he's a fan of Harry Potter, which we talked about in between me having his hands in my mouth and him working diligently to clean my pearly whites. I was told my appointment would last an hour, which it did. I appreciate that accuracy considering I needed to get home to relieve my babysitter. This is also a small office, with the dentist and two additional, friendly staff members. It was clear that they all work well together. I unfortunately have one cavity, which I will have to go back for later this month. But I take comfort knowing that my teeth are in the care of such a capable office.

The cleaning was straightforward. Donna was great and explained everything that was happening. Most importantly for me, though, and the reason I've switched from my last dentist, is the dental exam showed that I had been grinding my teeth (I mean, what could have been stressful these last few years?) and had worn away parts of the enamel. So I got my teeth cleaning done. The suggested their electric toothbrush and their mouthwash that is claimed to be better for you than retail mouthwashes. I took the mouthwash and was billed. My husband was later evaluated as well (keep in mind we just came here to get basic care). They suggested the mouthwash to him and the electric toothbrush. He turned down both especially since I had mouthwash at home but they sent him home with it anyways and billed us for two. Before he even got his cleaning done, they suggested a whole list of things he needed done and exaggerated the state of his oral health. The quote they gave him came out to $2,450 out of pocket AFTER insurance covered what they could. So we got a second opinion at another dentist office just to find out that my husband didn't need anything more than a cleaning AND it was covered by our insurance. Weird that my teeth cleaning, I still had a fee to pay. The receptionist can be unfriendly over the phone. One the of dental hygienists cleans your teeth so harshly.
