First off, she takes on too many clients. The ones with the money come first. She had different lawyers go to court for her to get a continuance on my case because it didn't fit in to her schedule. My last case with her she had to finish before lunch since she had a big money case she had to get too and we were holding her up. She gave my ex husband everything he wanted because he had filed the RFO and refused to let me talk to a judge when I stated I didn't agree. I got screwed!! read more

I used Debra for a Divorce years ago and she did a good job, I live in a condo and the neighbor below me filed a claim against me. My Homeowners Insurance has been representing me and doing a good job. I went to Debra for advice and she said all these charges were unfounded and that she would get all the charges dismissed and counter claim her for $100,000.00. Well I am on a fixed income and I gave her a deposit of $1,000.00, several weeks later I had a conference with her and my Farmers attorney and he informed her she couldn't get the charges dismissed and she couldn't counter sue them. I asked her to refund my $1,000.00 since she didn't do what I hired her to do. She kept all of my money. I would suggest that you never use her services, really to claim your going to do something to get someone to hire you and you don't do one thing and you keep the money. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and I honestly don't know how you sleep at night. If I could give you zero stars I would read more

Don't waste your money. Look for another Attorney who will research all aspects of your case as they occur. Although Debra is open to payment arrangements she does not support your best interest. At the end of the day she still gets paid for doing absolutely nothing for you. Your better off going to the self help offered through the courts. Although Debra was very nice to know my financial restrictions and billed softly, she allowed my ex husband and his "bulldog" lawyer to shred my finances, drag out the divorce for 6 years, and leave me with less settlement than I needed to cover the debt I was shouldered with coming out of the marriage. I hired Debra J. Burdette to end my divorce. She was my lawyer for 40 days. She is a terrible Attorney. Do not waste your money or time dealing with Debra J. Burdette. I am very surprised she is still in business, even for the short 5 Years she has been licensed to practice law. Here is what I experienced: - Lots of promises from Debra before retaining her services. - Promptly after retaining, Debra did not return emails or calls... or call when she said she was going to call. - Debra has no office support - Debra doesn't "work" Thursdays or Fridays, or weekends. - Debra has no time for anything, leaving everything to the last minute, then mistakes made and no follow-up. - *** Debra has a terrible temper and will yell at you. - Debra disclosed wrong information to opposing council. - Debra did not uphold her promises and ultimately was fired. Divorce is not an easy journey especially in long term marriage. My divorce although finalized some years ago I was the one paying alimony and Debra Burdette was my attorney since 2011. I was very proactive and did a lot of research in California divorce rulings and my goal was to terminate the alimony I was paying to the ex. Debra made sure I understood if my findings were important or not. Of course I would get sad if she stated my findings were not strong enough in court but like I said divorce proceedings are not easy. After 9 years of paying alimony which represented 50% of my marriage length it was more than enough to end it. Debra drafted carefully prepared orders to the court and once again she reminded me to understand anything can happen in court and she knew of what I truly wanted.
