Their bread is wonderful, the paninis delicious, but the subs (especially at $22 for a 12-13" sub) are very overpriced for what they are. This was the first time I've ordered the subs, I've been buying here for many, many years, and bought 2 subs for a party. The subs were not as filled as Subway or Fox's subs that I've had before (for much less $). In the center cuts, the diameter was about 2-1/2", and they tended to roll around on the plate. I put out lettuce, tomato slices, and onion as well as condiments (vegs are not provided), but only 1/2 sub was eaten. I expected a lot more, considering both the price and the store reputation. I didn't mention anything at the party, was too busy, but several guests asked where I bought these. And they weren't asking in order to buy in the future. :( One said that she heard these subs were supposed to be really good, then tried to console me by saying that the person making them might have had a busy morning and didn't do the best job. Ugh. BTW their meatballs, both soup (frozen) and regular size in sauce are great. It's just the $22 subs that I was very disappointed in.

Handed him the cash. Nothing else. Not thank you. Nothing. And he walked away. I don't care if it's po-dunk DuBois or Miami Beach - courtesy is expected everywhere especially when you are supporting HIS business. He also has an issue with the food stamp card. Took disabled neighbor into business and she asked if it was accepted and he was behind the counter again. Huffed. Rolled his eyes and meanly said "yeah". We walked out. Last thing. Next day he was behind me in grocery store line and complained about how slow the cashier was. Saying "if this was his employee they would be fired". Dude! I told him to relax the person has special needs. He said "don't care". What an arrogant A$$. No longer supporting his business or him.

They're open early for breakfast and remain open for lunch, so it's a coffee shop/ restaurant/…read morebakery. Breakfast served at all hours, and as I learned to my delight, so is the lunch menu! I explained to the waitress I'd been working nights, so the meal I was looking for did not include eggs. Could I get the soup and salad lunch special? She didn't bat an eye, and it was 7:30 am. The atmosphere at that hour was very much a retiree coffee klatsch; familiar and joking. The coffee was a bottomless refill, and the waitress knew all her customers. The decor of the restaurant leaned towards maps of Canada, snowshoes, and antlers. I absolutely loved what was on the plate as a side: The soft, fluffy, toasted and buttered roll. It was a cross between a Parker house and a crumpet. Delicious! The French onion soup was nicely toasted, with a cheese unknown in France: mozzarella. The side salad was large enough for an entree, and they were kind enough to bring me oil and vinegar when I requested a vinaigrette. (The balsamic kind, which they had, was too sweet for me). I'd love to come back and try their flaky-looking cherry turnovers or danishes.

I initially planned on just grabbing a few pastries from their dessert counter, but ended up ordering chocolate chip pancakes to go. As I talked to the nice girl who rang me up, she suggested the pumpkin cookies and the brookie. I bought those as well to share with my mom. I can honestly say everything tasted so good! The pancakes were large and fluffy. The brookie was delicious, but the pumpkin cookies were the star of the show. Can't wait to go back and try more of their baked goods!
