Bought a slice of apricot cheesecake at a boat show / fishing event. It was the best cheesecake I have ever had. It's light, not overly tart, nor sweet. Just perfect. Dubois is not close, but we do go that way a few times a year and I definitely will be stopping by to pick up a tasty treat. I will also search out events that the shop might attends. I wish I could give this man zero stars. We found a bandaid in our wedding cake in between the bottom two layers towards the back layer of icing and fondant. It's clear the bandaid fell off while he was stacking the cake which is an understandable accident. Where Mr. Uzi looses all respect is how he handled the situation. We gave him a call and he quickly offered us a free cake followed by a list of reasons how it can't be his bandaid. He said he never wears bandaids in his bakery and it must be our fault there is a bandaid in it. We sent him the attached pictures and still refuses to admit to it and offer some sort of refund. He's totally arrogant and unprofessional and he has quite the history just do your research. Mr. Uzi I hope you get what's coming to you pal. read more

Uzi makes the best cake I have ever had in my life. His chocolate fudge cake... absolutely incredible. My boyfriend and I will drive 1.5 hrs just to pick up some of his cake. Uzi created a delicious, beautiful cake for my wife's birthday. He asked for some basic preferences, and took care of the rest. The cake was perfectly moist, and the buttercream icing with raspberry cream filling was wonderful. The great reviews I found here on Yelp led me to Uzi's. I always support small businesses and Uzi's seemed to fit my criteria. Parking isn't convenient but worth it. I entered this quaint storefront and was immediately welcome by a man who could be no other than Uzi. We chatted amiably and he proudly showed me all the pastries available today. Based on prior reviews I already knew before I walked in that I was having the carrot cake (my favorite) and a cappuccino. I sat at one of the small tables and Uzi brought me my order. Even though he professed to having too much work he nevertheless joined me at my table we chatted as I enjoyed perhaps the best carrot cake I've ever had. It was multi-layered with just the right amount of sweetness and a firm, creamy cream cheese frosting. Uzi is a great guy and his pastries are even greater. I will be back. read more

I stopped here while in town for a work trip based on these Yelp reviews. Uzi was working the counter and we chatted for about half an hour - what a wonderful man! We bonded over a love for his home country which I have visited a few times. I bought a mini raspberry filled vanilla cake and it was INCREDIBLE. The icing had the perfect amount of sugar yet was smooth and creamy, the strawberry filling was delicious and just the perfect amount between the layers of moist vanilla cake. No only does he have the pastries there's also a large portfolio of cakes to order. The display case of wonderful treats they look like artwork. On the walls is many awards and articles. The decor has a charm about it plenty of seats. Chef Uzi what a great conversation we had and the delightful treats made our visit to DuBois a memorable one. The food here is hit or miss. I had some delicious tasting tiramisu that was amazing until I started crunching into egg shells. For the price you pay for these pastries, you expect perfection, and a mistake of that caliber will keep me from going again. Also, I want to second the other review. Uzi is super friendly and his treats are great. He makes coffee 4 cups at a time so it's always fresh. We walked in and the first thing he did was bring us back to check the place out and see what had in the oven. We got a coffee and split a cinnamon roll. Uzi made our wedding cake and it was amazing. We trusted the design to him and it came out beautifully. Also his cakes are moist and delicious. We were told he was the best in the area and when we stopped in his shop he gave us samples to try -- we were hooked immediately. It was better than any of the cake I had tasted at any other wedding! An amazing pastry and coffee shop operated by a friendly , interesting Israeli guy (Uzi!) The turnovers are amazing artworks of flaky goodness, Literally the best I have had of such things ever, I recommend the poppyseed or coconut turnovers. Tried a cappucino and an espresso, both were exemplAry pinnacles of the barista art which no SuckBucks could ever even dream of approaching, meaning to say that the espresso drinks here are utterly fantastic! The place has cool interesting decor and abundant seating including a table on the sidewalk, the ambience is nice the sort of place that makes one want to hang out and relax for awhile. Uzi is an expert cake maker too, on the walls are news articles about some of his incredible gigantic cake creations for weddings and other occasions. This is totally worth a detour off I-80 into downtown DuBois for. Uzi said he was born in Israel, but many of the pastries seem Eastern European in style, maybe Hungarian or Russian style. Anyways they are great, Uzi is clearly a true master pastry and cake chef, a Rembrandt using flour and sugar as tools. read more

The wife and I went to Uzi's looking for breakfast and like others found it was a bakery. The man who does everything had pulled fruit turnovers out of the oven, and to say they were heavenly does them an injustice. On his invitation we returned later for custard stuffed donuts, superb! Saturday is the day for sticky buns and we are drooling at the prospect. The accompanying coffee and lattes were rich, aromatic and delicious. Uzi's is a great find. read more

My husband and I came upon Uzi's by happenstance. We were traveling across PA and stopped at Brookville for a rest and a walk. We spotted Uzi's sign and the beautiful wedding cakes in the window and decided to go in. It was 3 pm on a Sunday and he was getting ready to close and only had a few things left for sale. We bought what he had, which were layered cake pasties and cookies. Everything was delicious, light in texture, flavorful, and not overly sweet. We found Uzi's two years ago when staying at Treasure Lake and discovered ONLY on Saturday mornings, he makes sticky buns. They are awesome...probably the best we've ever had.
