I should have read the Yelp reviews before hiring this guy (the owner's son) to remodel our bathroom this summer. I admit, I was ignorant about hiring a contractor and what to expect. When Decker wanted to charge for an estimate, I was willing to hear what they said. It was very high, but we were desperate to get our bathroom done before the summer was over. (We had two others come out to give estimates (free), but we never heard back from either one.) They got started pretty quickly, but right away we could see we were only the fill in job for when another project was delayed. The real problem was with the tile work in the shower. The beautiful tile with the colored grout that we had chosen was poorly installed with the grout looking nothing like it should. Now it looks like its old and mildewed. But the kicker is this: the mirrored medicine cabinet that was installed above the vanity is beginning to pull away from the wall. They won't come out and look at it until we give them $169 to file a claim against the "warrenty". I would rather pay someone else to come and fix the problem than to give them one more penny. Now we are looking for someone to do a complete kitchen remodel, but we won't be using these clowns. read more

Crook alert. He won't even give you an estimate unless you pay him an "estimate" fee. Then if you do hire him, he uses unlicensed, uninsured, and illegal subcontractors to do your job which exposes you to huge liability of someone was to get hurt on your property. He then collects your money and refuses to pay his employees and subs. He will not stand begins any of his work and is trying to sell off his equipment to stay above the water. Stay far far away from this crook. There are multiple lawsuits in the works now and once everything goes public his goose is cooked. read more

Hired them to install a covered screen porch, what should have taken 2-3 weeks took 2 months. The first subs onsite were the framers. They were quick, efficient and did great work. My euphoria quickly subsided as the project slowly moved forward from that point on. There's no project plan or schedule, no project management, everything is reactionary. Days and days passed with no one working and when someone did show up you needed to be present to tell them what they're supposed to be doing, communication is not a strong point for this company. You will also need to inspect the work closely each step of the way. When I pointed out issues someone would come to fix those issues and create more issues while they were carelessly working. I finally just said leave everything alone, I will fix the remaining issues. I was just ready for them to go away. The only time I heard from the owner of the company was after he sent me a satisfaction survey to complete. My responses were honest and not very favorable, and low and behold he calls within a day wanting to discuss change orders and additional money. He also whined a little about how it's hard to find workers and they were so busy, I recommened he not take on jobs he doesn't have the manpower to complete, and then he said that wasn't the issue, after he had just said, that was the issue. He had zero concern of why I wasn't happy, never asking questions about what can they do better to improve their customer satisfaction. Last time I will use them and would strongly advise to not use Decker. read more

If I could give less than one star, I would! We called to get an estimate for our kitchen remodel and they sent someone out the next week. We received our estimate the following week on 11/9/17 and agreed to the contract. It took them 6 weeks to get started on the job and an additional 12 weeks to complete the work. 4 weeks after we signed the contract they came back to us saying the job was under quoted and they wanted more money. We should have taken this as a sign from the beginning and moved on to another company but we disregarded it because someone made a mistake. During the whole process we were very frustrated with the lack of urgency and their precarious work schedule. On the days they actually showed up to work, it was rushed and sloppy. They were careless and their work was mediocre at best! We had to inspect their work on a daily basis and request for things to be corrected and done over multiple times. No one paid attention to the details and they were always trying to cut corners. We purchased all new appliances for our new kitchen. They had to install our dishwasher 3 times, which took an additional 3 weeks to get corrected. They also damaged the refrigerator when putting it in and that took an additional 7 weeks to get corrected. They wouldn't own up to causing the damage to the brand new refrigerator, so thanks to Steve at Home Depot for taking the hit on this one! He contacted GE to get the replacement parts and he came out to our home to fix the damage. It took a total of 24 weeks for this fiasco to be completely finished! When you're paying for a job to be done, you want it to be done correctly and to look like professionals did the job! We shouldn't have needed to micromanage the work that was being done. That was the job of the project manager, which changed at least 4 times in the 12 weeks they were working. Not to mention there were several people that were fired and/or not paid for the work they did. Some of which deserved it but there were others that did the best work on our kitchen and still lost their job. We would not recommend Decker Home Repairs and we will definitely not be using them again! read more

Suggested an expensive solution to water leak on roof, found a better solution for less that 25% of the bid I received. If you plan to use Decker you will have to "pay" for his suggested repair, it is taken off the cost, but if you do not use you lose. read more

I didn't like the fact we had to pay for an estimate. My husband had them do the estimate anyway. When the job was done, which the guys who put in the ladder to the attic did a good job, the guy who was saying how much we owed didn't subtract the $65 or $69 estimate fee and then didn't deduct the part of the payment for the actual work we had to pay up front. There is no other home repair company who requires an estimate fee that I know of or partial payment before the job is actually done. It was a few hours worth of work, not days of work. The final payment should have been figured out in advance and I shouldn't have had to tell the guy we already paid these amounts for the job. It seemed the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. This is no reflection on the actual work, but I can see them taking advantage of people. I don't know why WORD 106.3 keeps saying what a great company this is when it's not that great. read more

This company shouldn't be in business. They failed to get a permit after I asked them to. When I insisted, they got a permit for other work they performed not for what I had asked. Dirty slight of hand tactic by a less than reputable company. read more

Be wary. Do not pay total amount due until you are certain the job is completed correctly. We had our roof replaced, because it was getting old, not because of any leaks. After Decker replaced our roof, we had two leaks. He failed to fix the leaks and I had to take him to court. The only positive outcome was the judge ruled in my favor and required Decker to return to me the entire cost of the roof. I then hired another roofing company who determined the flashing was installed improperly. The roof was then repaired to my satisfaction. If I had waited until the first rain following the roof replacement before Decker was paid, the outcome might have been different. NOTE: This reference refers to Decker Roofing, the company's name prior to changing it to Decker Home Repairs. read more

Well I never got to see the quality of work they do. We spoke with Mr. decker not a very pleasant conversationalist was told to call back and his receptionist would schedule us in. We had someone come out to quote us on several repairs around the house. That was 10 days ago we touched base to see if the quote was ready he sounded like he forgot and was going to get right back on it.
