We pick up our lunches on the way over and find a spot to sit overlooking the expansive farm and its accompanying river. Once we're done eating, we explore the different areas of plants and the quaint general store. Staff is on hand to answer any questions and assist as need be. It's a beautiful day out enjoying a unique hidden gem on Long Island. I'd never know it was even there had it not been for my daughter bringing me.

We bought a poblano pepper plant, rosemary, oregano, chive, cacti & succulent soil, a pot for my aloe plant, and organic fertilizer. Everything was very reasonably priced and they were having a 50% sale on their plants! I wanted to plant some eggplants, but I saw on their Facebook page that they sold out. I've lived in Riverhead for 9 years but never realized that the nursery is open to the public. Mr. Jim Warner greeted us warmly and was extremely helpful and informative about decorative trees that we wanted for our patio. In addition to his inventory of trees, shrubs and bushes, there is a wonderful selection of perennial and annual flowers to choose from as well as fine decorative pottery on display. I passed by it hundreds of times on my way out to the North Fork but since I need to redo my yard, I figured I'd stop in. I was seriously impressed by the selection. Prices even for the more mature trees and plants are rather reasonable as well. They do offer delivery but that's going to hit you hardest in the wallet. The staff is hit or miss, you'll either get someone who is friendly and helpful or a complete snob. This is a great place to come for plants since they seriously have nearly everything and recommended. I just wish they were closer to where I live.

I wasn't hungry, but the menus did sound great! There was a live band that was pretty good, and plenty of seating. The admission charge was $5. The market ran from 5-9 pm. I signed up for a tarot card reading, but alas it was VERY popular. It was a 3-card reading for $25. Readings took about 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, by the time that I wanted to leave (before it got dark), he was still on the first page. So I crossed out my name. There were some very fun tables, with jewelry, perfume, and crafts, also a bookstore and a tee shirt stand. The "metaphysical" bookstore was adorable, with a fun "Blind Date with a Book" selection. There were some oracle cards and a couple of decks of tarot cards. As someone who has been to many metaphysical bookstores, and owns a decent collection of books, I wouldn't say that this store qualifies. But it's fun, and the proprietor was wearing a witch hat. I think that it was appropriate for the venue. Not for serious searchers. I browsed all the booths. There was the usual selection of stone bead bracelets. These used to be $5-7, but are now $28. H'mmm. There were craft booths, and a chain bracelet/ankle bracelet/necklace that were finished as you sat. The chains (sterling, gold, or other) were very, very, very thin and quite expensive. The people running the booths were generally very friendly. There were a couple of exceptions. The perfume lady did not have prices posted, and ignored the woman next to me, who asked for the price three times before she and her daughter left without buying anything. They had picked out two fragrances each. The perfumes were beautifully packaged, but the two that I tried on sample paper seemed to lack the notes referenced on the cards. The tee shirt guy didn't greet anyone who walked in. This was my first "fall festival" experience. While the venue is beautiful, and the vendors varied, I found the available merchandise to be extremely overpriced IMO. Granted, tariffs, inflation, etc, but prices were very high for what was offered. There were also gorgeous candles and soaps. Beautiful, and would be very nice for gifts, but IMO quite expensive for what they were. Very nicely packaged, which definitely contributed to the cost. Maybe it's just me. I had a reseller license in CO, and plan to get one in NY to sell my jewelry. So I know what stones, packaging, etc, cost wholesale. To be fair, though, that was pre-tariff. Anyway, it was a pleasant hour. I'm sorry that I wasn't hungry, because the food truck offerings were probably delicious.

If you were able to get the bulbs you could take those home too, which is a nice perk since they are perennials and will come back year after year. Plenty of parking. Tickets are cash or card. They have some goodies to also purchase on your way out. Petting farm for the kiddos (I mean I squealed when I saw the cute pigs too). Live music. Food trucks. The main nursery is open, as well. Lots of plants for sale when we went. And LI Farm Brewery is on premises!

The apples were crisp and juicy and super sweet (although a few of them did attract wasps before I caught on and put socks on them) and the peaches... oh gosh, the peaches were fragrant and super juicy. I think they were a little small because it was the first year, so I'm looking forward to what this year will bring! Thanks again!
