We pick up our lunches on the way over and find a spot to sit overlooking the expansive farm and its accompanying river. Once we're done eating, we explore the different areas of plants and the quaint general store. Staff is on hand to answer any questions and assist as need be. We bought a poblano pepper plant, rosemary, oregano, chive, cacti & succulent soil, a pot for my aloe plant, and organic fertilizer. Everything was very reasonably priced and they were having a 50% sale on their plants! I wanted to plant some eggplants, but I saw on their Facebook page that they sold out. I've lived in Riverhead for 9 years but never realized that the nursery is open to the public. Mr. Jim Warner greeted us warmly and was extremely helpful and informative about decorative trees that we wanted for our patio. In addition to his inventory of trees, shrubs and bushes, there is a wonderful selection of perennial and annual flowers to choose from as well as fine decorative pottery on display. Prices even for the more mature trees and plants are rather reasonable as well. They do offer delivery but that's going to hit you hardest in the wallet. The staff is hit or miss, you'll either get someone who is friendly and helpful or a complete snob.
