The plant is beyond beautiful and has grown unbelievably. Thanks for your suggestion to provide cover for our a/c. We would like suggestions to prepare the plant for winter. Also I think we may have to divide the plant because it has grown so much. It's perfect right now but want it to be ready for spring and not grow even more. Can you give me suggestions. I love going and seeing all the new up and coming businesses that I can support on Long Island, and I always enjoy that these markets are held at a nursery. There are always so many great vendors but I'd like to highlight some great food options, I'll also be @ their instagrams, definitely look them up! To start I got some chocolate boba milk tea from @wickedsisterstea, it was a perfect pick me up, just sweet enough and super flavorful. They also sell an assortment of loose teas that I highly recommend! Next my boyfriend and I sampled some empanadas at @amped_panadas, we shared the Florentine which is the vegetarian option and was super juicy and cooked perfectly and we shared the "the amped" a sloppy Joe empanada very clearly cooked with love. Two special shoutouts to @thelidipcompany and @creationsofbacon we sampled the Greek and baked clam dip which was basically a gyro and baked clam that can be served with crackers and pita. Unfortunately she was sold out otherwise my boyfriend and I would've bought it all! We also sampled the bacon Oreo and bacon jam sandwich at creations of bacon. Perfect mix of sweet savory and spicy! Lastly we stopped at @prettybakedonlongisland. We bought some jalapeño cheddar pretzels and she was having BOGO 50% off cookies so of course I grabbed a couple of those! Overall, todays farmers market experience was a great first time back! I'm so excited for the spring season and what's to come. Another social shout out to all the other vendors, the candle makers, crystal sellers, and pickle guys! You were not overlooked, but you also weren't bacon... Daisy's Garden was the perfect location to have this and as the weather gets warmer more vendors can definitely be added to the outside. So excited for more markets at this adorable location!

Heirloom tomatoes come in various colors from yellow, orange, odd cherry red, purplish, green, and my personal favorite dark green mixed with red.. The concept was around for years as families used the same seeds for generations. Growers often tried to cultivate colors and shapes they liked. There are many rare ones. The ones here are more of the popular ones. They taste amazing, have far more flavor, seem devoid of acid, and are often either gorgeous or horridly ugly.. They are sometimes creepy when small growers grow them.. but are cooler still.. A real treat in the summer with mixed greens or even better as my mother likes them just sliced into wedges. They go out of season on the east end with the weather.. except here.. where greenhouse is on steroids. The proprietor is a greenhouse expert and powers up the east end delivering wholesale to other farm stands. Even other tomato growers sometimes sell these along side their own more so in the fall. They are not certified organic.. Organic heirlooms can be found at Sang Lee and Garden of Eve. This is the source of most heirlooms after the season ends.. I literally just picked up a bunch all the way at Young's Farm in Brookville and they were brought in from here.
