Your hairdresser is a very important person in your life. You put your precious locks in their…read morehands and they have the power to make you or break you with just a few snips of their scissors! I have spent years trying to find the perfect hairdressers and I finally found it in Canvass. It is impossible to recommend this salon too highly! My regular hairdresser is Lynn who is a newly qualified stylist and is hugely passionate about what she does. She is very chatty and friendly and makes you feel instantly at ease. I have also had my hair done by Elaine who is a senior stylist and Nicky who is the salons director. Nicky, as expected is more expensive than the other hairdressers but she really is fantastic and is worth seeing if you are getting anything drastically different done to your hair. She is also a trained make-up artist and lectures at a local college. This lady knows her stuff! I have extremely sensitive skin and try to avoid unnecessary chemicals and nasties such as parabens whenever possible and the lovely girls at Canvass help me with my quest my specially ordering me in paraben free hair colorants. How's that for customer service? What I love most about the hairdressers at Canvass is their honesty. If you are thinking of going platinum blonde but the girls think your complexion would suit a honey blonde better they will subtly suggest this to you, and whatever they suggest is always right! They are also great an analysing the condition of your hair and recommending ways to improve it. For example Lynn suggested I stop tying my hair in a ponytail as my hair was splitting where my bobble sits and now if I have to tie my hair back a put it in a plait so that my bobble sits and the ends of my hair which get a regular trim anyway. The difference such a little thing has made to my hair is incredible. If you need any advice on which products to use the Canvass girls will happily give you some. However they have never once tried to push expensive products from the salon on to me. Canvass also have a beauty therapist named Jennifer whose work I have yet to sample. However I doubt Nicky would hire any beauty therapist who does not meet the standards that her fantastic hairdressing team has established.

They may have a fancy…read morelittle nail bar in the corner and they may give you a nice head massage when you're getting your hair washed but I am not fooled by any of it! This place is all about making money and they don't even attempt to hide it. I used to get my hair cut and coloured by the salon director and the last time I did I left in tears and never returned. I immediately went to neighboring salon Canvass and they fixed it pronto for a fraction of the price. Whenever I went to JR's I would barely be in the door before they were trying to get me to do all sorts of things to my hair that I didn't want done. There is no such thing as "just an inch off the bottom" at JR's. They give you the hard sell and convince you that you really do want to go from ebony black to platinum blonde even though the thought had never entered your head before. Also I was often left sitting with dye on my hair for a lot longer than was needed and often had to remind the staff that I was there! What's more is that I had no idea why considering the place is practically empty most of the time! My least favorite thing about JR's though is that they push products on you like nothing I have ever seen. As soon as you agree that, hmm yes I supposed £15 is reasonable for a 250ml bottle of shampoo, they are saying, well you can't have the shampoo without the conditioner, and the hair serum, and the weekly nourishing treatment! Before you know it you have spent a small fortune on products which are no better than something you could get from the supermarket. Or maybe it's just me. Maybe I should just grown some gonads and tell them I don't want their stupid products!

I am lucky enough to have relatively well behaved eyebrows. They don't give me too much bother. They aren't massively bushy or out of control. Occasionally, however I'll go to a beauty salon to get them waxed to perfection for a big event. On such an occasion I went to Serendipity and specifically stated that I like my eyebrows as they are and I just wanted them tidied up a bit. Apparently the beauty therapist disagreed and decided to do her own thing and I ended up with next to no eyebrows left! Thankfully they grew back relatively normal looking but I've heard that some peoples never grow back how the originally were! Arrrrggh! I really should have learnt my lesson from this but I returned to Serendipity for a spray tan and again I gave very specific instructions. I said that I have very pale skin and don't want to go overboard with the fake tan because it just doesn't look right on me. The tan lady said that was fine, she would just give me a nice healthy glow. What I got was a horrible, sickly DayGlo! I was so embarrassed! Once bitten, twice shy so I won't be back to Serendipity for any future beauty treatments! However they do sell a nice little selection of Yankee Candle products and Bare Minerals Make-up and as I am a huge fan of both I do pop in a make the odd purchase from time to time

On my 5th visit she very badly burnt my skin. This was very painful for weeks and started to scab. When I went back to see her she said this was normal and I should carry on with my treatment's. I saw my doctor and got a second opinion from a professional beauty therapist, both confirmed that my skin was burnt due to negligence. I am very annoyed with the way I was treated by Sharon. She misled me, didn't take any blame for her negligence or apologise. It's been 7 months since she burnt me and I still have the scar. If anyone is getting any treatment from her please STOP before she scar's you. Don't believe what she tell's you do your own homework.
