I had the bbq beef sandwich with peppers and mushrooms, the spoonbread, coleslaw, and green beans. Let me just say the sandwich was absolutely fantastic and the spoon bread was also great. Coleslaw was good and green beans pretty decent. I recently had dental surgery and have been having to avoid anything hard and chewing on one side of my mouth and even with that I was able to easily eat the sandwich, it was almost melt in your mouth. Unfortunately, there was no utensils or napkin on a takeout order, for a BBQ place, was hoping for some napkins, but I could've specified or asked. Nice place in Weirton, West Virginia only thirty minutes from Pittsburgh. The interior is nice and has a Margaritaville vibe with neon Andy tropical themes. Four of us ordered their specialty- ribs. The ribs came out fairly quickly and were super tender. My friend picked up his first bone and the meat just slid right off. Delicious. One can ask for a bolder sauce for the ribs, but the house sauce was just fine. Sides included cole slaw, loaded potato skins and apple sauce. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The 4 of us were quickly seated and our server took our drink order. The atmosphere is very fun and reminds me of a Jimmy Buffet place. There is an extensive drink menu and the food menu looked great. I had been convinced to have ribs, so didn't really look at anything else. I got the half rack, coleslaw and potato skins (which were also recommended). Our food came quickly and looked great. I love that they put a bowl on the table for bones. The ribs were definitely fall off the bone tender and the sauce was good, but not great. I like lots of sauce, and probably something not as sweet. I liked the potato skins and the coleslaw was good. The ribs were very tender and the bbq sauce was good, although a little sparse. The potato skins were great, but there was only 3 and they were small. Overall Value - Very Good. The prices are reasonable and the food good. We drove around 40 minutes to the restaurant. If I lived closer I would make this my go to place for ribs. This is one of the best BBQ places we have eaten at in a long time. We began our meal with fried zucchini. The sandwiches served with great coleslaw were awesome . Our orders were a pulled pork sandwich and a fish sandwich and both were delicious. Portions are very generous so there is plenty to take home. Absolutely rotten and keeps getting worse. Came to Weirton in 2021 and I'm a huge fan of barbecue sandwiches , not ribs, but pulled pork or beef brisket. It was actually fairly ok. Not great but maybe a 7 on a scale. Kind of sweet but not too bad. Keep in mind it's the only barbeque place within 20 miles. So not much choice. Then starting in 2022, became disgusting. Sometimes you bit in it and got little bones or hard things. Taste was bad too. My guess is that the place was sold? I'm not sure. All I know is that you must get it "sweet" and they don't offer anything but sweet style, which is not good. read more

She graciously answered all of my questions. I had to try the ribs and glad I did because they were outstanding!!! The ribs were cooked just right and meat was falling off the bones.. it was perfection. I liked the house sauce but was more of a fan of the "cannonball" sauce. Enjoyed lunch at DJ's on Tuesday. It was delicious. Service was great. There were 6 of us and all our meals were great. Fish sandwiches are highly recommended. Visiting back home and wanted a staple in Weirton, but I don't think that exists anymore. The customer service is still there but the food quality is not. The menu has changed drastically and doesn't give the same ambiance that once existed. The food quality is not great. The side salad was so small I thought they didn't give me it, but found it in the bag with the bread. The zucchini planks were soggy and lacked flavor. The change in their French fries were underwhelming. The BBQ sauce has changed, but not for the good. Overall, I have heard of the changes not being liked by locals and I can see why. Dee jays has gone down hill and I don't think I'll be spending my money there again anytime soon. read more

Overall not an enjoyable or recommendable experience. Even if you're just trying to order something to go. This place is way over hyped for how mediocre they are. Burgers are ehh. Never the temp requested. The fries were good. Service ehh. Hard to describe exactly why on the service it's more of a feel. I mean waiting 23 mins for someone to slap pre pulled bbq pork onto a bun and load a cup with green beans is a little ridiculous, but the rest of it is just the feeling of condescension from the staff. The sides are AS PLAIN JANE AS THEY COME. For $4 (3 on the menu...) they aren't even worth your time. Basically just a locally branded Applebees. If you want to spend $20 for a sandwich fries(coleslaw) and a vege might as well go to the other side of the freeway and at least get to enjoy your meal. read more

I know the ribs are good. My husband orders them every time we go there. But my go to food there is the blacked sea bass! I get it lightly seasoned, I want to tell you, you have never eaten fish this good. That's all I ever order anymore. Their remoulade sauce is fantastic. All in all, they do have very good food and the service is very good too. And I don't think it's too expensive for what you get. Except for the drinks, I think they are a little high. We went here for my mom's birthday, and we were not disappointed! Almost everyone in our party ordered the ribs, but I chose a pulled pork sandwich - my boyfriend and I made a plan to split his ribs and my sandwich. You get two sides with the ribs, but most of the options are some type of potato (skins, fries, mashed, etc.). I do wish they had an onion ring or mac n cheese option! When I got home I was eating my ribs and they were the worst ribs I have ever had from there and I have been going since I was little. Me and my hubby moved here Dec 2021. We have 4 kiddos and are kept busy. I was happy to see a barbeque joint. I'm glad we don't have to drive to Robinson for Mission Barbecue any more. That place is the bomb !! But too far away. We tried it more than once and each time bbq sandwich was gross. You bite down and it grissle and sweet . We hate sweet barbecue! Nasty and they don't even have an alternative to their 1 sauce. Seriously wtf? We didn't think it could get worse overtime because it was rotten to start with. Weirton is mostly boomers and WWII veterans and older people really can't tell the difference so restaurants keep being subpar because they can be and get customers! The staff is nice. I have been coming to Dee Jays since 2010. Today was the first time the ribs were not so good. The new management came onboard a few months ago and you can tell on the food. Today we had the zucchini appetizer which was limp and not crispy. On our last three visits the salads have been white and wilted and the fries and potato dishes come out cold. We have by far been disappointed and the only positive experience is from Brit. This is sad since Dee Jays has been such a establishment in Weirton. Hope the experience gets better. My family and I had an early dinner at Dee Jay's over the holidays. I would really recommend getting the ribs or the fish, both are favorites for us. I recommend the coleslaw over fries with the fish, pairs nicely. My mom gets the grilled haddock and asks them to blacken it a bit. My dad and I always get the fried fish. The sandwich is good and so is the platter. My sister got the pulled pork and it was just OK. We also love the strawberry daiquiri! My nephew ordered the kids cheeseburger and I will say that was probably the biggest disappointment. The meat was really dry and almost inedible. He devoured his fries though. We were in town to visit family, and we hadn't been to this restaurant in a long time. We lived right down the road for 7 years, so we'd been there a bunch, so we decided to give it a go. The waitress was good, the wait time was decent, and the food was good overall. There are two places where it went completely wrong, however. 1. The ribs themselves are VERY good. They are tender and very lean. They also give a BIG slab. HOWEVER, their BBQ sauce is AWFUL. More like spicy ketchup, I've had better using Kraft at home. VERY disappointing. They also don't slather the ribs very much - super dry. 2. And more importantly, the prices at this restaurant have gone completely off the rails. We ate at 3 restaurants while in Weirton, and this one was the most expensive HANDS DOWN. We spent $60 at Dee Jays, $44 at one, and $36 at the other. Their food is NOT that good - not by a long shot.
