Good fried fish. Decent prices but not the healthiest option but good choice for Lent

Nice people. French fries are great,except...they fix the fries first & they sit on the counter getting cold waiting on the sandwiches. The last 2 times we ordered sausage sandwiches, they were overcooked. Between crispy & charred, making them tough & quite chewy. Not to be too picky, but they always pack the fries on the bottom of all the sandwiches, making it difficult to eat the fries while driving...lol. read more

Service was vey friendly. Busy for Lent! It is a take out, so there isn't much ambiance, but very clean. Fish is the best in the Ohio Valley by far! Lightly breaded, and actual white chunk fish, no fillers. A must try - I travel 10 miles for it. read more

This is a Steubenville Staple. From outa town? STOP HERE!! The front area does look like much, but this is top tier fish and chips/ seafood for a beautiful in the sticks pricing. For less than $10 you can have more food than you'd need for the day! Sauces are house made, batter is phenomenal, quality of food is excellent, and selection is crazy!! Have ordered their fish chunk dinner many times, now they raised the price and lowered the size of the fish chunks, actually the fish had more breading than fish, basically fish flavored breading. its a shame to ruin a good business that's been there for many years, read more

Got fish sandwich was very good. Thick /moist. Way better than fast food crap. Went around 7 pm.

My side of fries had like 15 fries in it. All the workers seemed super depressed and low energy. Used to be a great place but the current employees are not fun. read more

Great walkup fish shack with a huge menu. Right next to the farmers market in downtown Steubenville, this place has a historic and timeless look. Ordered a fish and chicken meal with hush puppies and jalapeño poppers. All were cooked well and tasted great. The sauces were unique. Overall great place to check out in the area. read more

Shrimp were amazing as was the homemade cocktail sauce. Fish, clams and fries were good too. Place was hopping, but service was excellent. This is not an eat- in place, but there are a couple picnic tables outside. Will definitely be calling ahead for takeout in the future! read more

We have been coming to Steve's for well over 10 years and never had any issues until yesterday. It's a 45 minute one way trip for us but it has always been worth the effort. We have been there literally hundreds of times with nothing but fantastic food. However, the fish yesterday was no where near as good as it was just a couple weeks ago. It was over cooked and some pieces were so hard they couldn't be chewed. The most disappoint thing of all is when we brought this to their attention on facebook, we were essentially called liars and were told they have never had a complaint of any kind before. I said we weren't expecting a refund and that all we wanted was a "sorry your dinners weren't what you have come to expect from us". Instead, we were told it must be us because it couldn't possibly be the fish. After that interaction, we will not be coming back. read more

First time visit, wanted to try it based on reviews. All I can say, is that the locals don't know what a good fish and seafood place is. They somehow speak highly of this place high, maybe based more on nostalgia than quality. I ordered a variety, shrimp, scallops, clam cake, wings etc. Everything was over cooked, dry and flavorless. My only gripe is that I asked for tartar sauce when I placed my order, asked for tartar sauce when I picked up my food (was told it was "definitely" in the bag), and then got to the hotel and found that there was NO TARTAR SAUCE. read more

The quickest review that I will EVER write. Stay away, even the inexpensive prices make this a waste of money. I cannot even begin to say what a monumental disappointment this was. Food is deep fried run of the mill, but particularly bad is the service. I ask point blank if they put tarter in a FISH DINNER, they act like it's a stupid question. Get home and none in there. How hard is it?? read more

The food is pre-prepared by an outside company then deep-fried by the restaurant. It's a fairly fool-proof concept. Sometimes, it's really good and other times it's either overcooked or the grease has gone too long without being changed. The cocktail sauce is a plus. The delivery people have always been friendly albeit it takes a very long time. I'd say most of the people working inside have been friendly and pleasant but there is that one who spoils the whole barrel. Seriously, if a customer asking a simple question sends you into meltdown maybe it's time for a new job....JS! read more

Steve's is one of my favorite places to get fish. The jumbo shrimp are huge and wonderful and the fish sandwiches are huge as well. Twice the size of the bun. And their tarter sauce is good. And if you have a sweet tooth, the funnel fries are really good too. read more

Make sure to order the catfish sandwich. Delicious, flaky, and the flavor is dynamite. This place has been a staple in the community for as long as I can remember and during lent our family frequents this restaurant at least every Friday until lent passes. read more

There needs to be better consistency in the sauces the homemade sauce can go from Tasting like straight ketchup up with the consistency of a jelly to completely tasting like hot sauce and runny. The tartar sauce sometimes taste like straight pickles. read more

Really good fish. I recommend the fish dinners, which include a generous portion of breaded cod, fries, dinner roll, and coleslaw. They also have fish sandwiches, shrimp, burgers, and much more. Pickup is consistently ready in a timely manner. read more

I moved away from Steubenville in 1981. However, every time I go back (from Central Ohio), I make it a point to stop and get some of Steve's FABULOUS fish n chips (mostly the fish). Yummmm! I'm going back this weekend and can't wait! :-) read more
