I needed a late lunch early dinner & this is convenient on my way home from work. I hadnt eaten all day so i was hungry. I had the best takeout experience. Placed order online , got chicken parm on hoagie bun with extra cheese (probably the best one I've had). Also ordered a kids pasta meal as a side dish, which turned into my lunch for the next day, it came was bread and butter as well. I had to get some dessert and tried the limoncello cake. Felt the need to add a review for my latest visit to one of my favorite restaurants in town! We stoped in yesterday to get a calzone, only available Monday- Thursday! We had cheese pepperoni and sausage, with ranch, pizza sauce and banana peppers on the side! We split this meal and glad we did!! It was awesome!! As usual the service was great! Actually sucks. Meatballs had strong liver taste. Cheese in lasagna was stale, couldn't even finish mine. They said their lasagna was fresh, I'm calling cap! I'm overweight and finish almost all my food, my average and critically obese friend were with me. None of us finished our food, look at the attached pics. Ended up driving to Kroger after. Food is also overpriced, one of my friend and I payed more than 50 for the two of us. The third paid 11. All we ordered were three entrees and a sandwich. They never brought us our bread either. read more

Old school Italian decor sets the ambiance of this restaurant apart of others in the area. Want more of a sports vibe....they got you covered with that too as you can enter into the sports bar area (completely separated from the restaurant) and watch your favorite sports team. A variety of menu items won't leave you hungry (especially because the pasta portions are generous). Being a Dean Martin fan,I wanted to give this place a try. We even drove a bit out of our way on our way home from NJ. I really wanted to like this place but sadly, I did not. I wanted the chicken parm and requested it be pounded thin. I was told the kitchen could not do it because they would have to do it fresh. What the hell does that mean? Are they serving frozen chicken parm? I settled for the homemade spaghetti. The. Worst. Sauce. Ever! The only reason I gave this place two stars was because the waitress was friendly, the homemade bread was good, and the fried zucchini was good. Some of the worst food we've had in a very long time. Got some takeout tonight and they got maybe half the order right. The fettuccine alfredo is a sad excuse for some noodles, flour, and cream mixed together. I asked for grilled chicken and got a couple strips of unseasoned meat. Meatballs are extremely gummy and it was just flat-out disgusting. Season your food guys, and just do not come here. read more

It's an ok Italian eatery. Dark inside. The spaghetti sauce is way too runny, it's what I call dishwater runny. The menu has a good selection of items. My only complaint is the smell of the restroom that sneaks out into the eating area and the runny sauce. read more

I went to Mario's Restaurant & Lounge based on a recommendation from the front desk at the hotel where I was staying. I wanted to try a new (to me) restaurant so I gave it a shot. There is a parking lot behind the building that was surprisingly packed for 6:00 on a Wednesday. I found a spot, walked into the restaurant and was seated quickly. The service was pretty slow considering the amount of people working there. It took a real long time for a server to even acknowledge me and take my order. She did check on me a couple of times. I started with fried calamari for an appetizer. I thought it was over cooked and covered with to much breading. The plate size was good for a single person appetizer assuming that you just want to taste the food and not fill up. I thought it was the right amount but I was not a fan of how they cooked or prepared the squid. I would not order it again. I also had a bowl of the Italian Wedding soup. I thought it was ok. I like how they beat eggs into the broth. Also, for $3.95 a bowl, it was a real bargain. My main course was veal parmigiana. It was good to see that they used real veal (some places will use pork cutlets). It was a thin scaloppini cut where the flavor of the veal gets lost with the breading. I would have liked more sauce on the veal but that is my preference. The side of pasta was fine. I was given meat sauce on the pasta and liked to occasional chunks of garlic in the sauce. All in all, I probably would not go back. There is another Italian restaurant closer to the hotel that I frequent that is the same or a little better. Mario's is good if you are looking for a low cost meal from a restaurant that is not a chain. Good but not great. read more

Mario's is awesome. I've been going here since I was a kid. The food is fantastic, especially the salads with house dressing, chicken parm, amongst other items. Adding a special review to thank the owner for being so kind during a credit card debacle today and even offering to go to the bank. Mario's Restaurant in Weirton is my old standby for getting tasty food that is vegetarian when I visit home. For vegetarians, the Josephine sandwich, salads, some pastas with marinara, and the grilled vegetable sandwich are available. I usually get the Josephine, which is thin sliced eggplant that is breaded and fried, topped with cheese and marinara sauce between two pieces of their herb-bread and served with real french fries--it is really delicious. I can't speak for all of their items because I am vegetarian, but I do know that what I get is consistently served and always good. Additionally, their pastas and marinara sauce are good as well as the items served from their coffee bar. One thing to note is that Mario's Restaurant is attached to the DiCarlo's Pizzeria located in Weirton. If you order pizza in the restaurant section you will get DiCarlo's pizza, which (for all of you outsiders) is square pizza served by the slice with tomato pizza sauce, melted shredded mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni (unless you order otherwise). The restaurant also contains a sizable bar with high top tables where you can order off the menu from the restaurant (note that there is smoking allowed in this area) as well as an outdoor patio for eating in the summer months. Ordered a grilled chicken salad, came loaded with fries and cheese...I am from southern MD, didn't realize fries on salad was a thing? The salad itself was wholly underwhelming: watery iceberg, a couple cucumber slices, the occasional cherry tomato. Eh. The fried zucchini appetizer was yummy, though, and the steak and cheese my aunt ordered looked amazing. Prices were reasonable, and service was great. I am not from the area, but this restaurant made me feel like I always was! As an Italian myself, I felt very much at home at this old-school Italian restaurant. Decor that is on par, lights dimmed just enough to keep the darkness far, and finely trained servers to set their service at a rating of five stars! The rigatoni dish was prepared with rich and bright colors, and the packaged butter complimented the bread very well. In my party of five, one of us ordered a salad that could feed the population of the enormous U.S. state, Rhode Island. As she was walking out to her Japanese automobile, she dropped her container of dressing onto the unforgiving asphalt. I cannot get over how well the container tolerated the force of impact caused by the constant acceleration of gravity! The lid stayed right where it always had been. I salute the chief engineer and designer of the SOLO-branded containers for using the laws of physics to determine the needed structural integrity of the product. Mario, thank you for culinary service. This establishment's chemistry is unbreakable, and so are the dressing cups. read more

I grew up in Weirton. The quality had dropped a bit since the business caters more to gambling than the restaurant. I embarrassed myself on two seperate occasions by inviting out of town guest there over a three year period. The food was bland and cold and the service was poor. Years ago Marios was top notch and attracted people from over 50 miles away, not so much these days. The pizza is still their mainstay and even had been herald by movie and television celebrities while they were in for the local Italian festivals. A short ten minute drive to downtown Steubenville's " Naples Restaurant " is what Marios was tweenty plus years ago. read more

I stopped by this place primarily for the pizza (see DiCarlo's Pizza for a review) as well as some appetizers. I had Jalepeno poppers, and a fresh tossed salad. The food tasted good, the service was good, and my party had a good time. It seemed like an average to-above average Italian restaurant. Visited the Lounge and I have to say it is an awesome place to have some drinks and food. The staff is friendly and attentive, prices are reasonable. Can get the entire menu from the main restaurant at the lounge. There is a beautiful outdoor deck which accommodates smokers but is nice to sit on and enjoy a drink al fresco. Parking is ample and well appointed with spaces that allow you to park close to the pizza shop for carry out or settle in for a relaxing dinner and drinks. This is one of the best options in Weirton. Was so looking forward to this visit and maybe that lead to my disappointment. The place was nice enough, but everything else was a huge letdown. The waitress was nice enough but not a good waitress at all. I believe appetizer , salad and soup dishes should be cleared before the main course is served and even though my wife and I pushed these dishes to the edge of table these dishes stayed there through out the meal. I ordered the ravioli with the blush sauce, it was bland not warn enough and just slightly better than store bought with sauce out of a jar. Wife ordered the veal parm. which was over cooked and the side of rigatoni with marinara was bland and cold. We were rushed out of the place check was on table about 5 minutes after entree was served and coffee or dessert was not a mention.( Hint ! These are big profit items). Upon leaving and paying the check was ask by the hostess how are meal was I said better to have good food slow than bad food fast and she didn't acknowledge or comment. Maybe her ridiculously long fake eyelashes were bothering her. What ever happen to concern and logic?? Will never be back , not good Italian food, service or manners. read more
