Our first experience with Plumbums was excellent - we had an emergency issue, Jim was able to come…read moreout within an hour or two and get it fixed, and he was on his way. When our pipes froze during the big storm this January (thankfully, without water in them), we decided to hire Plumbums again. That didn't go as well. Quality of work: The fixes Jim suggested (a series of individual junction fixes) seemed reasonable for the repairs needed, but in some cases replacing whole sections would have been more time- and cost-efficient (according to other plumbers we've had in our home who have seen the work done). And we needed four return visits within our first three days living in the house to address issues that had not been resolved or that popped up as soon as we turned systems on. One problem (heat running constantly on our first floor, making the house over 80 degrees in the winter) was unresolved until I researched possible causes myself and communicated that to Jim, who sent out one of his guys to implement the fix. Professionalism: We were frustrated by the lack of care shown toward our property. Jim's guys left plumbing debris (not just the stuff our homeowner's insurance requested, but just straight-up trash), food trash, and drywall dust in our basement and living areas. This means that the first thing we had to do after driving 3,200 miles to move in was clean up after them. Drywall was removed roughly in several locations, and although patching was not included in the estimate, the cuts themselves appeared unnecessarily sloppy (and our new plumber neatly cuts and replaces drywall as a matter of course, leaving the mudding to us, which is fine). Plumbums did work well with our insurance company to get our claim handled, and ultimately we have working plumbing. But our experience wasn't great.

Roto Rooter - Septic baffle left uncovered

    Roto Rooter

First time writing a review...that means it will be a bad one. Had an issue where water backed up…read morelate on a sunday night. I frantically called several local plumbers but unable to reach anyone. I was able to schedule an appointment with Roto Rooters for the following day. Their customer service was very friendly which is why I gave them 1 star. Two technicians came to my home and began to snake my main sewer line. The first was an apprentice and it was clear he was out of his league. After about an hour of getting no where the seasoned technician took over. He walked all around the house and could not figure out where the pipe led and assumed there were two septic systems which was why they were having so much trouble. I assured him there was only one and showed him all the paperwork and locations. As a precaution, I called a local septic company to check the tank for any problems. After two hours of getting no where the septic company showed up and pumped my tank...he even offered to "suck" the pipes clean to see if that would help. The roto rooter technician snaked and pit a camera down the line from one half the house and everything was fine indicating a clog on the other end. I asked the technician several times to pull up his snake so the septic company could give it a shot as no progress was being made...they refused and brushed me off! After another 45 minutes the septic company sucked the sewer line and no lie...3 seconds later the clog was cleared and we could see gallons upon gallons of sludge making its way into the septic tank. About 20 seconds later the roto rooter technicians came out to in form me that the clog seems cleared and the backed up water was draining. After all was said and done, roto rooters charged me almost $800 dollars while the septic company charged me $200. I spoke with the roto rooter manager Chris as I was displeased with their service who stated that from what he understands his technicians cleared/cleaned the pipe. Yeah right... I doubt I will ever have to right another review because roto rooters was the absolute worst experience of my 30 year life and will obviously not be using them again. My advise...stay away from roto rooters or be ready to waste a good amount of time and money...and if you do choose them make sure you have a backup plan lime I did. Oh, forgot to mention that they left in such a hurry that they never closed up my septic tank baffle nor the inlet causing my home to wreak of sewage. I also noticed they were using MY deep socket wrenches that I used to remove the toilet (to avoid an additional $100 charge) for something and it has mysteriously vanished from the bathroom. The bathroom was left a complete mess...everything from the tub, floors, sink, and toilet paper was covered in filthy water. Took my wife and I about an hour to clean up after them!!!

Tech Jeremiah fixed my leaking shower by fixing the knob but only once I asked again at the end…read moreabout the warranty told me that it was a temporary fix and that his boss would only allow 2-3 fixes with the warranty. This repair cost me $575. I then asked how much it would be to replace all of the fixtures in the shower and he said $1000. It angered me that he did not tell me until the end that it was a temporary fix. I am not a plumbing expert and that is why I called roto-rooter because I did not know what was wrong/how bad the situation was. If he explained this up front I would have just asked to have everything replaced for $1000. I spoke to the tech soon after telling him I should have done it all and asked if there was anything he could do. He said that he could give me a 10% discount on labor. I then asked how much that would be exactly and he said he would call me back. He never called me back. I plan to upgrade soon and I will not chose roto rooter. Especially in current times, I feel very robbed by this company and I was 100% taken advantage of. If you know nothing about plumbing, don't go to this company because they WILL take advantage of you.
