He was a cherished member of our family for 14 years and the decision was agonizing and truly heartbreaking. We turned to Timbercreek, our family veterinary, to assist us with this difficult time and though saying goodbye to our friend was one of the saddest and hardest things i've ever had to do, the people at Timbercreek were kind, empathetic, welcoming, professional, understanding, and considerate and did everything they could to help us through this. They did everything they could to keep him comfortable, as we all held him, petted him, and made him feel safe and loved in his final moments and that meant so much to me. They went above and beyond to accomodate us. We were so out of sorts that morning that I accidentally made the appointment at the wrong location. Once the mistake was realized the other location was actually closed. Despite this they actually stayed and waited for us to arrive. They were kind, and understanding, and despite staying there past closing purely for us they still emphasized that we may take all the time we needed to enjoy our last moments with him, as well as saying goodbye after he was gone. This was appreciated more than words can say. This was one of our darkest moments and you did everything possible to comfort him, as well as us and i will never forget that. Animal doctor found that there were open wounds on his face from being attacked by an animal (most likely a raccoon), but it was covered by his hair (so I had no idea). They sedated him, cleaned the wound, finished his grooming, and sent me home with antibiotics and pain meds, all for $100. I was so pleased they took such good care of him and will never go anywhere else for grooming (and everything else). They were understaffed when I went, but still took ample time to explain everything to me and were so nice to my pup. They called me to provide updates and asked before doing anything that would cost more than what was expected. Next month I'm taking him to get some teeth pulled/dental cleaning, and I feel very confident he'll be left in good hands. Also should note - on a normal day (no open wounds), his grooming would only cost $45 here, which is cheaper than PetSmart or Petco, even with their military discount. AND I get peace of mind that he will be cared for properly and taken out to relieve himself. My pup also has major anxiety and typically everywhere we go I get judgement like it's my fault. But not here! They know how to handle animals with these types of issues and don't place the blame on the owner. They did recommended I might bring him in more often (which may sound like a sales ploy) but I could tell they were really wanting to help me get his anxiety under control. I put him on a 6 week grooming routine which also gives me a discount. I think it's going to be perfect for my pup! They also are very upfront about pricing. They take the time to go through quotes and tell you exactly what needs to be done, and what is optional. I'm so incredibly happy I took my pup here!

Dr. Fountain was patient and flexible when scheduling and performing a dental cleaning and hind limb radiographs for my dog. When I picked her up, she almost didn't want to leave! They aren't booked out a long ways, which has really helped me work vet care into my schedule while being a student.

Along with her date of birth. They filled out my paper work all wrong- saying it was her first parvo vaccine when it was her second... She was 8 weeks when she was 12 weeks old.. Would be nice for the shot records from the vet to be you know accurate considering that's what I am paying for exam services, correct shots, them being the experts? Plus when I move or go to groomers I need accurate vaccine info. After taking her home Pyper began vomiting and defecating on herself. By the time we returned to the clinic she had started seizing. It was after hours so my husband and daughter played the vets assistants-helping to hold Pyper down and intubate her. The doctor opened her back up and found a "bleeder" in her words. Ultimately our sweet baby girl passed. The doctor took no responsibility for her botched surgery. In fact, she asked if we had rat poisoning in or around our house that she could have gotten into or if Pyper had a blood disorder . Keep in mind this clinic did a pre-exam to approve her for the surgery. This doctor never took the time to call and check on my daughter knowing what a horrific traumatic experience this was for her and my husband. We understand accidents do happen but her lack of compassion, empathy and accountability is appalling. If our experience saves just one furry friend it will be worth the time to share our heartbreaking experience. RIP baby girl!

We were (are) traveling from South Florida to Colorado and about 5 miles before reaching Abilene one of our two cats had a major accident. I found Abilene out of sheer luck when we pulled off the highway and headed there in the hope that they could help... Staff took us in right away and were so sweet. They bathed our stinky dude and even cleaned out his carrier, lined it with a potty pad and fresh towel, and sprayed Feliway in both our cat carriers to keep them calm--they even gave us samples of Feliway wipes to keep in their carriers for the rest of our journey! Our vet provided advice on the medication we had given our cats, and adjusted the dosage to help the cats relax even more. We took her advice and purchased two Nurture Calm collars as well. Everything must be working because already both cats have settled down! Thank you guys so much!!!

I have taken my animals to Dr. Salava for almost two years. Recently, I moved about an hour away,…read moreand I still make the drive back to Salava Vet Clinic. Here's why: I have a Great Dane that seems intent on hurting herself. One weekend (I believe it was a Sunday) last year, she ran through a barbed-wire fence at 100mph and sliced her ear up pretty badly. I called the emergency number for Salava Vet, and a doctor met me at the clinic within 30 minutes. When I got there, she put my dog under anesthesia, (which was a struggle- she's 80lbs of "I don't like needles") and stitched her right up. I braced myself for the cost: my dog had swung her paws around in the struggle and broke a vial of the "knock-out" drug. All in all, with the after-hours visit, the two doses of anesthesia, the stitching, and the reversal drug, I ended up paying around $125. I had expected $300+. Recently, I had a kitty that fell off a balcony and landed on some stairs and broke her rear leg. I frantically called local vets, and none of them could get her in, or they were closed for lunch, or they simply didn't answer their phones. Frustrated, I just rushed her to Dr. Salava. He examined her right away, splinted the injury, and kept her overnight. I called him the next morning, and things didn't look good: the injury was higher on the bone than he had expected, and my kitty had pushed the splint off her leg. He gave me some options: try the splint again (which could make it worse because of how much she fought it), do nothing at all, (in which case it would eventually heal, but would be painful and may not be functional afterward) or do surgery. He recommended a few veterinarians, as they do not do orthopedic surgery at his office. I found a local surgeon and went to pick her up from Dr. Salava. I couldn't stop myself from crying (it was a struggle to find an affordable surgeon- Dr. Atherton in Salina did the surgery, bless him) and the staff at Salava Vet were angels to me. They ended up not charging me for the splint, and sent me on my way with their best wishes. Dr. Salava and his staff truly care about their clients and their animals. I would highly recommend him to anyone. On a side note- their boarding is exceptionally affordable and you can pick up AFTER HOURS! I boarded my Great Dane at his office every time I went to my one-weekend-a-month drill with the Army National Guard. It was wonderful to be able to pick her up at 8pm on Sundays, and be able to get up and go to work on Monday without trying to schedule around picking my dog up. I will never use any other vet!

(2020) Second time: I called when I was an hour away because Pig was in distress and needed a c-section. 3 pups were healthy and something was off. We were taken right in! Great! Then they sat on Pig for 3-4 hours and the last puppy, regardless of the heartbeat they confirmed on arrival, died because it was in distress too long. They gave me the body identified as a female. The presence of a penis makes me question that assumption. $3k. (2026) Third time and absolute last. Again I called an hour ahead. I came home from work to Pig paralyzed.I went into action and she went to the local emergency vet since it's Sunday. They sent her straight to K-state. The doc in Topeka called the kstate doc. My dog has now been sitting for 10 hours. Paralyzed, on the lobby floor with cuddles. She voided her bladder and was ashamed. She got all the kisses, she's sick. It happens. Piggles is clean. Loved. Cuddled. Still waiting to see a doc. It's been 10 hours.
