They got my puppy kiwi's date of birth wrong.. & ignored the first vaccines received by the breeders. Also gave me dewormer to give kiwi the next day; which was overdosing my puppy cause on the breeder records it stated kiwi being dewormer & vaccinated just under 2 weeks prior.. (And gave her bordetella vaccine- kiwis a 2.4lbs Pomeranian puppy) just saying it's a lot of medicine & vaccine for a puppy who got a bunch of vaccines & medicine under two weeks prior (which again was in the shot record I gave the veterinarian). Along with her date of birth. They filled out my paper work all wrong- saying it was her first parvo vaccine when it was her second... She was 8 weeks when she was 12 weeks old.. Would be nice for the shot records from the vet to be you know accurate considering that's what I am paying for exam services, correct shots, them being the experts? Plus when I move or go to groomers I need accurate vaccine info. When I called they said sorry it was a typo but during the exam we discussing how old my puppy was & what shots she received etc. plus they advertise royal Canin dog food which I found out, one ingredient in it is MSG (Hydrolyzed Yeast) if your info fast food for your puppy okay On a positive- They gave kiwi peanut butter when giving the vaccine, on her back bottom kiwi didn't cry which was nice. In a nutshell: Dr. Lindquist saved my kitty, and the office staff is excellent. Highly recommend them. My 10-year old kitty was an undiagnosed diabetic and probably went into keto acidosis at which point she almost died. I called them crying to ask if they could see her and try to figure out what was wrong, which they did. Lots of tests and diagnoses later, it was touch and go for about two weeks. But she pulled through! Dr. Lindquist and the techs made a point of checking in with me when we brought her home, out of genuine concern which I wasn't expecting. She called my girl, "a miracle kitty," but the real miracle was her and the LAV staff. They helped me get her condition under control and we're now able to manage it with diet and medication. We recently moved and utilized their boarding facilities during the process and the prices were so reasonable I was shocked. We miss them, but we're so grateful that they were able to help us. read more

I don't give 5 star ratings and maybe part of that is emotional for me. That said I would not say I am the easiest client to work with. Meaning I believe I am my animals best advocate and rarely but sometimes that conflicts with veterinarians best practices. My dog was 16 years old and typically they live to about 13. She had a neurological issue at the end of her life and it was very painful. She lost total use of her back legs and cried in pain in her last days. I thought I would let her die naturally. This was not to be, crying uncontrollably, I had to give the ok for her life to be ended. It was very hard to watch, I loved our Abby and thought her to be very special. Selfishly, I wanted my dog forever. The staff all around was amazing and allowed us to have more days, gave us hospice solutions to her last days, and were extremely supportive and even emotional themselves. As a human being that has to put animals down, I don't know how you would be able to not become a little caulous to the death of pets. Emotionally you wouldn't last. The vet, Dr. O'Meilia, was about as patient and caring as anyone who has the job regularly. She should be commended for her bed side manner! I know human doctors who have far less patience and understanding than she does with animals and their humans. The front office staff loved our dog with great affection! They have no idea their affect on our family and dog. On a side note, Abby, would often board with them when we were out of town. She would always whine or be angry with us. She never liked any boarding until Little Apple Vet! Thank you staff for loving our sweet Abby. read more

I've been taking my pet here for the last year. Also used their services for my Mom's dog who was in from out of town last Thanksgiving. They have friendly staff. I usally see a Vet Tech or Vet within a few minutes. They help me figure out what's wrong with my dog and send me notices for when she's due for more vaccinations. I think that's solid in my book. I have had a very pleasant experience with this Vet. The vet i usually go to was unable to do a dental extraction that my dog badly needed. This Vet was able to schedule the surgery for the next day. Dr Munson was so wonderful during my cat's last couple months as she was deteriorating before she died. Dr Munson and the staff understood and treated Hanna with such care even though she was such a difficult and sassy cat. We are taking our new fur baby to LAV and are continuing to receive great care. This office has multiple vets, so you never really see the same vet, so if(when) you have an important issue, you won't get the answered you NEED, unless you are lucky to have the vet working that day that actually happen to see your pet before. read more

I agree with some of the other writers. The place is good but SO OVERPRICED, I never leave without paying 150+. They charge for an exam even if the animal had an annual exam recently and that exam is 60+. I am switching now as I simply can't afford to go there anymore. read more

Went in for my dog with a dermatology issue and they did skin scraps and tests and what not and told me my dog should be spayed because it could be a hormonal problem. I have a 55 lb dog and it cost me a whopping $1000! This didn't help my dogs skin problems at all and now she can never have the chance to have babies, I do not make a ton of money so that bill was very hard to pay off, all for nothing. On another accession I took my sisters cat in because she seemed not to be feeling well, they wanted me to get her spayed like that day or at the latest that week.. only 2 weeks later she had kittens. I believe this vet just wants to fix all the animals no matter what the customer actually came in for. Bad diagnosis and expensive pricing. read more

OK, I am finally going to do my civic duty and post a review on Little Apple (LA) because I have so many people ask me where I take my dogs. The reason I get asked so often, I find, is that people mostly take their dogs to LA and are looking to take them elsewhere. I initially took my dogs to LA back in 2009 and was satisfied with their services. I then left KS and returned in 2011 and ended up going back when one of my dogs snagged his dew claw on a fence. Upon LA taking my dog into the back to "treat" him, I was met with the horrific sounds of my dog howling in pain....which may not have been too alarming if it weren't for the fact that my dog is extremely stoic and has a VERY high pain tolerance level as was demonstrated for over a month as he healed from radiation, which for those who are not aware has after effects much like 3rd degree burns. So my dog never so much as grumbled when healing from radiation, but now he was howling in pain! So when they finished "treating" him they bring him back to me in worse shape than when I brought him in.....whoever was trying to clean up his dew claw, clipped his nail to the quick and he was bleeding. They send us away with a tiny bottle of antheseptic wash (my dog is 115 lbs), so I am not sure how I was supposed to stretch this stuff out, and instructions to contact them IF it becomes infected. Well needless to say it did in fact become infected and instead of taking him to them, I went to KSU Vet Med School as recommended by a friend and it was THE best decision I have ever made. In the end, the infection in his dew claw did subside after 3 weeks of antibiotics, but there was damage that caused a swelling that would not go down, so he ended up having it surgically removed......which as you can imagine cost a lot and I cannot help but wonder if I could have avoided all of this by not going to LA in the first place. Additionally, I had a friend that was actually a K-State student and she had a dog that had a very strange eye infection that she was having treated by LA, but 2 weeks later nothing had changed, except it was getting worse. So in conversation I recommended KSU to her and that week she took her dog there and when I asked a week later, she said that they were VERY thorough and that within 2 days of taking him there his eye infection was already exponentially better. read more

As a veterinary student I've been exposed to a lot of veterinary practices at this point and Little Apple ranks highly among them. I used to only take my cats to school but it's difficult to get an appointment and takes forever, PLUS no Saturday appointments or opportunities for me to see the vet with the animal since I always have class and thus only get to drop-off. Little Apple is an excellent primary care facility. I've seen all the vets there with my various cats and have always been pleased. They are even cheerful and happy to explain things to me when I ask vet-type questions, even if it takes another 5 minutes for the appointment. They've always been very capable even with cats (which is more rare than you might think) and they ALWAYS are able to see me within 24 hours, which is just stunningly fabulous. The whole building is kept immaculately clean and is never too crowded with tons of patients waiting. They clearly have enough clients to stay in business but not so many that it makes being a client there miserable! Be sure to make note that this is a wellness/primary care vet office--they will have to refer you out to the vet school to see a specialist if anything more complex arises with your pet (this is standard responsible veterinary practice). read more

I was not impressed....the man checking me in was not very friendly or informative. My father in law past away and I was wanting information on costs and services. the man wouldn't even look at me!! he was filling out other paperwork!! then when I picked my dog up, they charged me $182!! this was for 4 overnights.....$22 was flea and tick med, $20 brushing... I was verydissappointed... when I dropped her off Thursday, I signed papers agreeing to pay $122....which I paid then....I agreed to pick her up Sunday afternoon...I did tell them I might not be able to get her until Monday am....on Monday, when I tried to pick her up during their pick up times...doors were locked and no one answered the phone...so later in the day, I went to pick her up, again during there pick up time, no one answered the door, but they did answer the phone...so I got my dog...it was a holiday, but i had asked when dropping her off on thursday if they were open on monday to be picked up......then on Tuesday, I received a phone call saying I owes them $60 cause I didn't pick her up when agreed.....Sunday afternoon. so yes, I was a day late, but to charge $60! unbelievable will not be going back!! read more

This business does not care about the well being of your pets. They care more for money. I brought my dog in because I believed he had a wart, and the nurse said the vet wouldn't see him unless I acknowledge to pay 164.00 dollars in services and fees up front. BEFORE MY DOG WAS EVEN LOOKED AT! I asked if the medication was necessary since the vet had not even seen the wart, and the nurse didn't know. She went to go ask the vet and came back to me to relay that he bet won't even come take a look at my little buddy until I acknowledge to pay for the services he might not even need yet! A vet that will only help animals if they are paid upfront before a professional diagnosis is trash. Very unhappy little apple animal hospital and shame on you. read more

Very clean vet clinic although the respect level is very low. I feel that they are too established to care about their clients. They are pretty unorganized and don't communicate before increasing your bill. Before surgery's they often times give your dog unneccessary shots and charge you for them. My last visit consisted of the Vet telling me that I have the legal right to choose which vet clinic I take my dogs to and they have the right to choose what clients they'd like to have...in other words he wasn't interested in us coming back. All because they didn't communicate and charged me for unneccessary things!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! read more

In summary: absolutely horrible. In summary: absolutely horrible. They push for unnecessary surgery and shots They are horrible people, they care more about money than taking care of your pets. Sure the vets are nice and seem sympathetic but their recommendations are not honest. After a urine analysis and an x-ray was told my cat had Struvite stones in her bladder which had to be removed surgically. After informing them for the 2nd time we were moving in 3-4 weeks the response was 'how far are you moving?' After informing her again we would be moving close to 1000 miles away and inquiring if there was any other option then the $1000, we were told very rarely do the Struvite stone/crystals dissolve through diet alone and would need the surgery and preceded to push for the surgery before we left. When i reminded her we were leaving in 3-4 weeks she got nervous and stooped pushing. They gave us the antibiotics needed to stop the infection and we bought the prescription diet bladder health food. The front desk refused to give me a copy of the x-ray stating the vet in the new state would simply need to request it....this proved to be completely false.... There are legal reason why the x-ray has to be held in the vets records for a period of time but as the owner i can request a copy or to borrow their copy. Attempts to get said x-ray: 1. walking in and asking for a copy to take with me: NO: resulted in the nurse saying it could not be released to me and the vet in the new state would simply need to request it and it would be sent to them but would need to be returned eventually. OK 2. The vet in the new state requested the medical records and the x-ray: NO: i had to sign a release form before the x-ray could be sent. NO PROBLEM 3. send back the signed form and ask if it will be sent to me or the new vet: NO: I would have to come in person to pick it up. After communicating that I was now 1000 miles away and the best I could do was have a friend in the state pick it up I heard nothing back before the appointment with the new vet. The stones had DISSOLVED, not a hint left of the three stones seen on their original x-ray. The new vet explained it was not uncommon for the stones to dissolve through diet alone. When we returned home the Little Apple clinic had responded that they did not know we had spoken with someone previously and a copy would be made available to us. I responded that they could keep that x-ray and unnecessary surgery and to never contact me again. They are horrible people, they care more about money than taking care of your pets. read more

We have only ever used Little Apple Veterinary for their dog boarding services. Under no circumstances would I ever take my dog there again. We were in a bind over spring break last year and our usual dog boarders were all full so we took him here for the few days we were out of town. When he came back to us he was so scared. He is a very happy dog and never has issues being away from us, but it was easy to tell that he was mistreated while there. Most places let the dogs run around and play during the day. But I could tell he hadn't even been let out to use the restroom regularly, since he was covered in poo from his kennel. When I asked them about it, they said they let him out twice a day for a few minutes to use the restroom. So other than that he was stuck in a small kennel all day long. I also gave them treats, toys and a pillow to give to him when I dropped him off and when I picked him up they had to look for them. Sure enough, they were all in the bag just how I had given it to them. They didn't put them in my dog's kennel with him. My dog really was traumatized when we picked him up from here. That might sound silly since he is just a dog, but it did break my heart to see him so frightened and jumpy just from being boarded for a few days. And because of this I will never use any of their other services either. If you are looking for a good place to board your dog in the area try RC Kennels, Howl-A-Dayz Inn, or Wildcat Pet Resort. They are so good with our dog and a MUCH better option. read more

They put on a show! The kennels are not properly cleaned, dried feces and food are left on the bars of kennels and runs. The cat condos have exposed wood which cannot be properly disinfected because wood is porous and will harbor bacteria, viruses, and fungi. They skipped one of my dogs doses of medication while she was boarding and they lie about how long they walk the dogs for. Its not 5-10 minutes. Its as quickly as possible which results in pets urinating and defecating in their kennels. They will also talk about certain clients behind their back, especially if you say anything to the receptionist named Ashley. Oh and not to mention their prices are outrageously high. DOG OWNERS BEWARE! DO NOT USE MOMETAMAX FOR EAR ISSUES!! My dog is now deaf after getting his ear infection treated there. I took my 11 year old shepherd mix there on June 29th 2012 for an Aurel Hemotoma. After sitting in their office for 2 hours, they came back with an estimate of $713.12 for a list of things including $161.50 for teeth cleaning. I opted for them to just drain his Hematoma. I was told by Dr.Jennifer McMeans that he had a "minor ear infection" in his left ear and she prescribed Mometamax with the directions to "apply a generous squeeze, 5-8 drops into BOTH ears once a day for 14 days. Within a week, my dog was almost completely deaf. There were no warnings on the bottle or the box and Jennifer didn't offer any warnings or info about this drug. I read the fine print on the paper in the box and in the lower right corner it said, "The use of these components has been associated with deafness or partial hearing loss in a small number of sensitive (eg Geriatric) dogs." Under 'precautions' it says usinging it beyond 7 days may result in delayed wound healing-she prescribed it for 14 days! When I called her about it, she didn't even seem to know what the risks and side effects were to this drug. There are many other options for ear infection treatment that are safe, but I was offered no other options. Now his ear infection is a major one and he can't hear me. I can't even begin to tell you how sad I am about taking my dogs hearing away from him. I would recommend Candlewood Vet clinic. They don't use this evil drug because they, (unlike Little Apple Veterinary Hospital) know about what they are prescribing to your beloved pet.
