HOLY FISH SANDWICH. This is definitely the MOAFS, the mother of all fish sandwiches. It's pretty much as big as my forearm, perfectly crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside. About 90% of people get it on rye, so that's just what I did. Boyfriend got it on white bread, and both of us were too busy scarfing down our food to ask the other how their bread was. We asked for the jalapeno tartar sauce, and it perfectly complimented the fish. We were both able to destroy it before it destroyed us, but we practically had to be rolled back to my place where we promptly both fell asleep while Netflixing. We also grabbed a side of lobster mac and a cookie, which we glutton-fully ate later as a snack and a dessert, respectfully. The wait really wasn't too bad for Good Friday, there was practically none and they were getting to everyone quickly. I took my friend's tip of arriving slightly after the lunch rush at ~1pm. Get there early but not too early, and not too late or they won't have a sandwich for you! Parking seemed a little scarce (I almost hopped the curb into the neighboring business but realized it was barricaded and I probably wouldn't be able to get back out), but we were able to snag the last one in the back. If there's no parking in sight, don't you worry, there is a nifty little drive-thru window that seemed to be moving at a steady pace. My one #ragret is that I'll have to wait a whole year for Lent to come around so I can get another one of these fishies.

Came here for the Fish Fry, left here with a smile on my face. I don't venture to the West Side all that often, but am glad I made the trip to experience the culinary delights of Bridgetown. Located in a small shopping strip, Finer Meats is what I would call the "anchor store." Next door is a wine shop, a candy shop, and Jenny's Homemade Cookies. It's everything you need in one stop. My friends and I dined in for the Fish Fry, which we heard was legendary. I was shocked to be handed a fish sandwich that was big enough to feed two! A delicious, plank of haddock, battered and seasoned to perfection and placed between two slices of Shadeau bread and garnished with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and jalapeno tartar sauce. For sides, the green beans were fresh, bright green yet tasted like they had been simmering all day. The macaroni n' cheese was phenomenal: large spiral noodles baked in cheddar. The coleslaw was fresh, crisp, and sweet. We all ate in silence as the food was so good! Our evening was complimented when the managers came out and talked to our group, made sure our orders were correct and that everyone was having a great time. We were personally thanked for coming all the way out from Downtown. These folks truly appreciate their customers; they're food and friendliness are definitely worth the drive! Finer Meats is a butcher that serves prime beef, top quality pork, Amish poultry, fresh seafood and a vast array of homemade foods. Most people buy meat to take home and cook, but Bridgetown also serves up take-away luncheons, including fresh sliced sandwiches and sides of produce. In addition, Finer Meats has a catering services, with options from appetizers like Bourbon Meatballs, BBQ ribs, and chip, vegetable, and fruit trays to a variety of sub sandwich combinations, beef tenderloin sampler, and stuffed chicken breasts. And then there's the hot dinner buffets: a baked potato bar (with dozens of 'fixins), a soup bar with over 15 kinds of homemade soups, an Italian buffet, a lasagna buffet, a Chicken Alfredo dinner, and a selection of roast beef, chicken breast, honey ham, turkey n' gravy, roasted pork, shredded roast beef BBQ...I could keep on going, or you could just check out their extensive menu: http://www.bridgetownfinermeats.com/Brochure2012.pdf If it can be butchered (meat or veg), they have it was Bridgetown Finer Meats!

Words are not enough to describe how amazing this place is - not only is it high quality, unique food/meat, it's also an experience to go there! The guys are always upbeat and fun and treat you like a guest and friend, in their shop. Like others have mentioned - the BEST fried fish, during Lent (or any other time of year), ever! BTW - try the jalapeno tartar sauce. It's awesome!

If you love BBQ, prepare your taste buds for the kind of joyride they've been praying for --…read morebecause Sweets & Meats BBQ delivers some of the best barbecue in Cincinnati, possibly anywhere. From the moment the aroma hit the table to the last bite, this meal was nothing short of legendary. Let's start with the pulled pork -- outstanding doesn't even begin to describe it. Perfectly smoky, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor, it was the kind of meat that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate what's happening. Juicy, rich, and done exactly right. And the sides didn't just show up as an afterthought -- they completed the meal. The greens were deeply flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the mac and cheese was pure comfort food excellence: creamy, cheesy, and impossible to stop eating. Now... the wings. These are the kind of wings you'd happily drive across town for -- crispy, meaty, and bold in flavor. Absolutely worth the trip all on their own. And then there's the brisket. I'll just say this: ridiculous. Smoky, juicy, beautifully seasoned, and so tender it barely needed a knife. One bite was enough to reset my expectations for what great brisket should be. Everything here tastes like it was made with care, patience, and real BBQ passion. If you're even remotely serious about barbecue, this place needs to be on your list. I'll be back -- and bringing friends next time.

The other day, I happened to notice they had posted about a corporate client cancelling a big order at the last minute and asking for help selling the catering order. I needed to go run an errand near the location anyway so it seemed like fate. And I will not wait around on Sweets & Meats again because this food is legit. I got the pulled pork sandwich combo, which comes with two sides (and they have like eight different sides - I love variety!). I appreciated that my to-go order had the meat and sauce separate from the bun so I could assemble at home and not have a bunch of pork and bread mush instead of a sandwich. The pork was delicious - it didn't NEED sauce but the sauce was so good I had to throw some on there. The collards were delicious (they can go so wrong so easily). But the mac & cheese was the star. I immediately started telling people "you need this mac & cheese in your life, you're welcome." Their little spot underneath Children's Hospital is modest but cute and clean. Service was friendly and they gave me my cornbread (oh, the cornbread - I almost forgot! Also delicious) for free because they accidentally gave my very similar order to the wrong person (we ordered the same meal, I just added cornbread). They were actually in the weeds a bit because their call to action was successful - the phone was ringing off the hook and I got there in time to beat the crowd. Take-out or dine-in, Sweets & Meats is worth the visit. Get the mac & cheese! I can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Came here during restaurant week just to try the restaurant and can say I will be back!…read more I ordered the Ceaser salad with the short rib empanada and short rib gnocchi. The Ceaser salad was the best Ceaser salad I ever had! The short rib empanada and the gnocchi was good as well but the gnocchi was covered in scallions. That wasn't stated on the menu or by our server when I asked if onions were in the dish, so unfortunately I did have to send that back and have it remade then ate the rest once I got back home. I also tried the Black Angus NY and it melt in my mouth like butter. They were busy and it did take a while for the food to come out but the wait was worth it.

Wow! What a way to spend our 1 year wedding anniversary! I loved this place…read more It has been a few months since eating here but I still find myself thinking about it. Our next trip to Cincinnati; It will be extremely difficult to stay away from here. We spent the day in Newport and around Cincinnati and wanted somewhere nice for the occasion. I was iffy on this place at first... you can throw a rock all over America and hit a place with 'Barrel' in the name these days. The Yelp reviews swing both ways here but I'm here to tell you my take... because it swings so far towards the 5 stars that it's very much a 6 or 7 star place(maybe more). We gauged our arrival time based on other activities that day. We wanted ample time at the nearby Lego exhibit so when we arrived there, we made a reservation for 4:30-5. Eating early and making our way back to Louisville was a great idea. The entire time we were there, no one else came in so we had the entire place to ourselves(It was a Friday). The atmosphere is homey but during busy times, I could see it being noisy. The booths could easily fit 6 people comfortably... probably 8 in some cases depending on how wide some of you are. Special Note: This place highlights The Parrillada Experience for Two on their menu and we wanted it! We didn't order it because at a price tag of 130-and pictures online, we didn't want it to be a failed outing. After our first trip, The Parrillada Exp will be on the agenda next time. It's a mixture of different steaks, sausages, shrimp, sides, and salads. Definitely worth the cost. On to the food: Sausage App - Argentine Chorizo. Farmhouse Sausage. Grilled Ciabatta. Hearts of Palm. Green/Red chimichurri. Pepper Relish. I don't like ordering this type of dish when I go places because you never know if it's going to be delicious or very bad. It ended up being super delicious. We couldn't make up our mind which sauce we liked the best and which meat we liked the best. App PERFECTION! Land and Sea - This is what my wife went with. Asada Skirt Steak. Jumbo Shrimp. Asparagus. Red chimichurri butter. I had bites of the shrimp and it was good. I had to save room for my dish. Wagyu Denver Cut - I went back and forth. Lobster ravioli being on the menu almost made my decision instant but I was going back and forth between ravioli, steak, and a few other things. I asked the server which he recommended of the 4 Chef's cuts. He recommended two... one of which was the Wagyu so I went with it. I wasn't disappointed AT ALL. He mentioned that the Wagyu Denver Cut was a new addition to the menu... I'm not sure but you could definitely tell it was cooked, arranged, and presented with care. I savored every angle of every bite. We also ordered a side of brussels because of course! Originally we were going to dessert somewhere else but went ahead and ordered the Hazelnut Vanilla Creme Brulee here. Perfect ending to the meal. This brulee was light and had the right amount of crunch. It was also larger than expected. We had no complaints with this place. Easily one of the better restaurants I've had in Cincinnati. If you're doubting visiting this place, take the dive! Other notes: They have beer and a small cocktail variety but they primarily seem focused on wine(plenty of options to choose from).
