Not been to a lot of banquet halls but this one I've been only on two occasions and that too a special one - for a baby shower/gender reveal and for the same kid's 1st birthday - special isn't it? :) This place is a quite a space with respect to the area size and their parking space is pretty amazing while attached to a Mexican taco bar. Came here for Diwali celebration for a company event. The restaurant was a ballroom type of place so you could have wedding reception and festival celebrations like this occasion. The place is very spacious and has a center stage so you can have some performances arranged there. They also have a DJ station to vibe it up. Food was mediocre from my experience, probably everything we had is catering style food so nothing too surprised to me. Samosas and mango lassi were fine, the rest is ok food. Words can't match, it is an amazing place to have parties. My son's wedding venue was there last week end. The place is clean, plenty of parking place for guests. The food was good, tasty, fresh, warm and displayed perfectly. The Valima package food and drinks was unbelievably good and super tasty. The staff were very cooperative, friendly with smiley face all the time. Muskaan and Jaish (staff) were too good and put 5 stars to the wedding party. I highly recommend this place. I've visited Deewan many times as both a host and a guest, and have always appreciated their great food, beautiful banquet hall, and solid facilities. However, during a recent event on 01/10, I had one of my worst experiences with their management. On 01/09, the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional while discussing decoration timing and payment terms. She was distracted on her phone, responded curtly, and showed a completely unacceptable attitude. Since the event was the next day, we had no choice but to proceed. When we escalated the issue to the owner, instead of addressing our genuine concerns, he behaved rudely as well and even offered an extra $500 refund while suggesting we take our event elsewhere. This was shocking and highly unprofessional. The event itself went smoothly thanks to a newly hired staff member he was polite, mature, and handled everything well--but this does not excuse the management's behavior. read more

I called multiple times to book an event. They would take my phone number but never follow up. After 3-4 attempts, I was finally able to speak to a manager (a woman) who refused to give her name and was incredibly rude. She wouldn't take any information over the phone and insisted I book online only--which I did twice with no call back. When I complained about the lack of response, she actually told us to go somewhere else. They should not be in the hospitality industry if they can't provide basic service. read more

When we complained to owner, he tried a tactic and put a blame on us instead of accepting his staff's rudeness. I would not recommend going here to host an event, especially if you have experience with Indian food. The quality of the food and customer service is way below its price point. The one pro is that it is aesthetically nice. We've had two parties here. The first one was okay! Not great but they had just opened so we got a good deal. The second time was really bad, mainly due to their accounting problems. Day of the event, they don't get most of the food we ordered correct and it's all cold. They also only put out 40-50 chairs and said we had to pay more for the rest of them, even though we already paid in full. I even showed the email confirming we had paid in full but they said it was wrong (but didn't say why it was wrong). It felt like they were just trying to get more money by putting us on the spot. When we said we'd call the manager to sort this out they IMMEDIATELY claimed it was an "accounting error". One second they are saying we didn't pay, the next second they said it was a mistake. It definitely felt like they were shaking us down for more money. The manager was not there, but I called him about the issue and he never got back to me. The bill, which we already paid, included 18% gratuity. Our understanding was that the gratuity would go to the staff. But the wait staff COMES UP TO US demanding to get tipped about $50 per staff member! Since the party was still going on, again, they were really putting us on the spot. One waiter kept saying "you guys are low lives" and "if you can't tip then don't come". If your boss doesn't give you the tips, that's not on us. I don't know what's going on with the accounting here, but it was such a nightmare. read more

They don't want us to succeed so they go onto Google, etc to speak ill of us" ....Oh okay. not accommodating from the standpoint of Covid. I had to reschedule - that's on me. The rest of the idiocracy - let's talk about it. Signed a contract for 80 people min and only 50 were able to attend. Okay! I signed a contract that we'll pay for 80 minimum so that's what we'll honor. I paid EXTRA to have the bridal suite at an earlier time because I came from a different state. By earlier - I was told 11 am. I called to see if it was possible to do 10 am instead because getting done up for your event takes time. On the phone, just a week before the event. I was told that 10 am was not possible and EVEN SO, 11 am wasn't an option because they don't open until noon. So - When would I get the bridal suite that I ALREADY paid extra for? 3 pm. which is 3 hours before the start of the event. As you probably can guess, that wouldn't really work for anyone that even considered taking anything more than a selfie before their event. He "offered" me the bridal suite for an extra 3 hours (open for us at noon) for $300. WHAT. A. JOKE. So what did I do? This is something I recommend to other brides as well - book the conference room of the hotel you're saying in. You'll probably get the entire conference room from 7 am to 6 pm for LESS than what he is charging for his bridal suite. REVIEW OF BRIDAL SUITE - TINY - IF YOU GET THE ONE WITH THE BATHROOM INSIDE OF IT, BLESS YOUR SOUL. - IF YOU GET THE ONE NEXT TO THE BATHROOM, I AM SO SORRY FOR WHAT YOUR NOSE, SKIN, EYES, AND HEART WILL BE EXPOSED TO. I opted to change my clothes in front of female family members that I RARELY ever see in the bridal suite than to change there. I was so grateful that I had been working out my quads as much as I was so I could squat instead of subjecting myself to come into contact with any of those toilets. - THE FURNITURE has cuts in it and is not clean. - manager doesn't knock before coming in to show a potential new client the room when you're in there - just a heads up. There are two positives I can give this place. The food is good and George and his team during service were awesome. They made sure everyone was happy. The downside is that George kept asking if we would give an option tip for the service crew and followed me around, my mother around and my father around to insist that we take part in doing so. We WOULD have but something that Deewan needs to understand is that the experience for the client MATTERS FROM BEGINNING TO END. You can't make up fees (bridal suite) and be rude during the menu selection process and be terribly pushy and then expect your client to be able to separate that part of their experience from the rest. read more

We had a surprise bday party for my mom and everything was beyond expectations. From the moment we met to view the venue all the way through the end of the party everything went off without a hitch. Excellent communication leading up to the party. On the day of the party the staff was very attentive. Our event coordinator was always in communication with us from start to finish. We discussed how we wanted everything to go at the start. He checked in multiple times throughout the event. Always made sure we had everything we needed. Our company Christmas party is held in this hall. It's very spacious inside and there's a lot of parking outside. the room was nicely decorated and the staff were very attentive and accommodating. I've always enjoyed the food, but if you are a picky eater or don't like spicy food I doubt you'll enjoy anything. The original ballroom was filthy with cracked floors. They lacked a working elevator and offered to carry a handicapped person up the stairs in a wheelchair. The moved our party downstairs only for us to run up and down and bring the chairs and decor down. Finally an hour before the event was finished they started wrapping up the hall and shutting down the bar. Not someplace I would ever recommend. read more

This is an interesting place. It is a banquet hall with a number of large and smaller rooms upstairs. The party I went to was in the summer and the air conditioning died mid event so they lost lost a star for that. They did bring up a big fan but given the size of the room it did not do much. The room was lovely and setup nicely. Staff was attentive. Their food banquet was artistically arranged and maintained. I enjoyed the items I tried but I stayed away from the high carb rice and nan items. I loved their chicken and tofu dishes. I am not a big mushroom fan so I skipped some of the veg side dishes but my colleagues enjoyed their shrooms There was a lavish wedding in one of their main halls on the 1st floor. I could not help sneaking a peak. Wow it looked stunning. Lots of parking and there is a handicapped ramp. They have a small elevator also. The location was easy to find with google maps. I recently had my daughter's baby shower here. Pros and cons here they go. Pros- Management was very nice and Accommodating. We had the smaller hall upstairs which was fine with me till we asked for another two tables then the owner decided we can use the downstairs banquet literally last minute like two days prior to my event. I was very grateful no extra charge at that. Management opened the place for us earlier so that our decorator could start early. We choice the American dinner for the buffet and I must say it was very good. Now the cons- the carpet could of been vacuum, some glasses where very spotty ( they did change them thou) There was air on, but with so many people it felt like a sweat box. My guest was complaining that made it very frustrating. Something was wrong with the AC for it wasn't working properly. We had an open bar the bar didn't get started on time. Tipping is not included so be aware you have to tip everybody. I actually would consider doing another event here in the future. Place is very nice for the price. read more

And trust me like others or many people I had so many doubts and less confident that this place and people can pull or help me in my event . But I was wrong . I had small event so I need place small enough and but same time elegant. Also wanted to setup Mandap which I was thinking need some custom work. They helped not only sync all vendors but timing and selection. Then made sure timing of events. And main thing for any event FOOD, everyone was talking about that . It was really good. Deewan banquet is large, has tons of parking and pretty affordable for hosting parties and events. Staff are clueless, the young bartender didn't even know how to open up a bottle of beer. I don't even think she was 18 which is already illegal right there. When I asked for salt & pepper, they didn't know what I meant and ended up getting me the small open bowls that the chefs use for cooking. Noooo thank you!! That was disgusting and I sure as hell didn't use it although, I was desperate for it. Food was an utter disappointment!! The cheese calzone was dry bread with a weird unknown cheap cheese. Chicken satay was drenched in sauce that was flavorless and boring. Cesar salad had soggy croutons, flooded with store bought dressing and partially wilted. Potatoes were just steamed, pasta was cooked and thrown on with peas and horrible tasting Alfredo. The best was the lamb kofta, not only it was an extra charge but was FROZEN!! It was like eating mystery meat that was dry and overcooked! The entire experience was bad. Nothing was remotely edible and I left hungry wondering how there still in business. Recently my son got married and we had mehndi function at Deewan Banquet. Due to the COVID 19 the took biggest advantage on charging so much money with "ZERO SERVICE". I ordered, 10 Jain Dishes and they did not put any Jain Dishes which is very bad. The food was horrible. Falafel was like stone. On out contract, we supposed to have 6 live stations, they set it up like all buffet style. If you really want to have your big day celebration, instead going to Deewan, do it in your back yard and will have better day!! just stay away from this place. read more

Poor management at my business party event: 1) They did not put up a NOTICE which hall my event was being held. 2) My event was to begin at 7pm. The bar did not have the single malt I had ordered. 3) The bar did not have Tonic water until an hour into the cocktail hour. 4) When settling the final bill, the floor captain demanded a TIP, although I had already paid 18% service. He thought I may be under the influence of alcohol and he would pull a fast one me. The food was very good. I have to give credit where it is due. Highly recommend this place to ruin your event! We threw my parents a 50th-anniversary party here. We had over 120 guests and so we wanted to ensure my parents had a great time since they had meager means when they initially got married. We liked the room we received, but the problems started after that. We were promised the room to start decorating at 4pm. Another party prior to us did not vacate the premises until 4:30pm. No one that I spoke to at Deewan seemed to care. They kept dismissing me. Once we got the room, it only gave us one hour to decorate which was rough but we managed to do it. You can imagine, like a wedding, for the anniversary party, we had toasts, spoken well wishes, and various family members speaking. However, Deewan had booked another party in the room next door that had about 20 people. Again, we had over 120 guests and the party next door had 15- 20 people. From the minute the other party (of 15-20 people) entered the hall until they left, the music was blaring and blasting so that no one in our room could hear a single thing. You couldn't hear any words spoken or said. I would say at least 50 people in our party kept asking the staff of Deewan to close the doors or ask the other party to lower the music. They refused. If you want a nightclub/dive bar feel - this is the place for you. If you want elegance, go somewhere else. I felt horrible when my father spoke to the manager and begged him not to ruin his 50th-anniversary party. The manager's words "your party is not as loud as the other party, so we can't do anything about it. If your party was loud, then this would not be a problem". Once I heard that I started to vocalize that this was disappointing and more of our family members started to come around us and listened to the manager as he uttered that exact sentence over and over. Members of my family said when they walked in that they loved the place and they left vowing never to host an event there. Then we were supposed to have the room until 10:45pm. The waiters/staff started to clean up at 9:30pm and threw out all of the favors and other items we had left for our guests WHILE our guests were still sitting at the tables. So rude!!! Well, I tried calling the manager a week after and complain and he said he heard that the other party (the 15-20 person party) was disorderly and drunk but I haven't heard a word from him after that and it's been 6 weeks. I waited 6 weeks to write this because I was really upset but that didn't change this review. Giving 2 stars because the hall is nice and the food was decent. read more

Owner Harpal & his men are in sync so i did not face any difficulty be it service or food. The food served at Deewan banquet is right spiced food in NJ. PASS. Came here for a family birthday dinner. Was here once before and had a mediocre experience. Made a reservation for a party of 17 people. Walked in around 7:30pm on a Friday night and the place was empty. There was some sort of event going on in the banquet hall but nobody in the actual restaurant. The water was lukewarm and tasted stale..gross. They could have put some ice in it. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, including papdi chaat, samosa, Schezwan aloo tikki chat and dry vegetatable manchurain. Portions were generous and the food was good but took like 45 minutes to come out. No papad in the meantime, either. Now for the main entrees...which took another hour to come out.. Naan - standard, nothing out of the ordinary. Paneer Tikka Masala - pretty good, generous with the paneer and the curry was not to oily. Vegetable Manchurian - I said not too salty because last time I ordered this dish it was bathed in salt. This dish came out so bland...no flavor whatsoever. Chilly Paneer - all we could taste is salt. Just terrible...the waiter did take this off the bill after we told him though Malai Kofta - Mediocre. We said medium spicy for this one, still came out sweet Baingan Bhartha - Eh it was okay...I've tasted better. I was too full and not tempted to taste the other dishes we ordered. I think the main issue with the food was lack of authentic flavor. The worse part of the experience was the service. Way too slow...we were there for close to 3.5 hours!!! We wanted the leftovers packed and the busboy just took them away without asking. We brought a cake from home and the waiter said the kitchen was closed and they could not cut slices for us. We just had our engagement party here, and it was amazing! Everything about our party went down absolutely perfectly. The room looked great (although most of the decorations were done by us). The food was AMAZING, both the appetizers and dinner were out of this world good. The star of the show though (aside from me and my fiancé of course) was the incredible open bar! The liquor choices were excellent, and it kept flowing all night long. Also, great bartenders! Deewan was definitely a great option for our party. I very very rarely take the time out to post a review for a place. This time I feel that I need to warn anyone who is thinking about throwing their party at Deewan Banquet. My wife threw me a surprise birthday party this past weekend where we had guests from all over the US at the party. Despite the worst service ever we had a good time. Our complaints: 1. Bar: We paid for Premium Bar for 4 hours. After 1 hour they had no red wine, no vodka and they were serving rail whiskey to my guests. 2. The bartender was demanding to put tips in her tip jar before she would serve someone. Not to mention she had a very distasteful attitude. My recommendation, i would not keep someone like that around in a food service business. 3. We paid for a projector screen which was broken 4. We had 2 cakes at the party. We barely finished only 1 cake. When we went to get our left overs they gave us 1 tiny piece of cake. Overall very disappointed that we picked this place as a venue. If you want your wedding to be extremely stressful go for Deewan Banquet . They will try their best to give you the absolute worst service possible and as well as add on many additional fees like "lights" , "bridal suite " which should come with the hall booking LOL . When we first went there we loved the place and the owner Harpal seemed cool . He was the one who gave us a good deal for 175 people booking the ball room . As soon as we signed the contract and send over the money , we could not get a hold of him anymore , instead we had to deal with his different managers every time who didn't know anything or any of the offers harpal offered us , so it was a constant fight because we had to beg these managers to call the owner and confirm because apparently they don't know how to communicate. But the biggest let down was that we paid $135 to do a taste testing LOL and the food was amazing during the tats the testing , however at our wedding it was worse than garbage . The food was cold , dry , no taste and nothing like what was given to us in the taste test. Also my mother in law was the first one to arrive and she saw that they didn't even bother cleaning up the floor it was still dirty and my husband almost tripped from their slimy floor read more
