My Indian work place associates always recommended to dine here. we finally had the opportunity and I am glad we did. even though it's a vegetarian spot. the food is excellent. everybody was able to get fresh unlimited dosas. and when I say unlimited, I say it how Russel Wilson says it. I must have gotten 5 dosas but the wait staff was so nice and kind. the dosas were size of an American hard taco on bland Taco Tuesday. This is a great all-you-can-eat restaurant for those who are vegetarian or want to eat out with people with dietary restrictions. The selection is delicious and incorporates many vegetables. The food is smothered in rich sauces and the servers provided rich garlicky bread. If you are new to eating Indian cuisine, the servers can describe the contents of the food for you. It's always been a good experience - visited this vegetarian/vegan restaurant for lunch buffet on a weekday this time. We were seated right away but there is always a waiting on weekends but there are more items in buffet and it's pricey as well. The food was delicious with a variety of North Indian, South Indian, Indo-Chinese dishes and desserts. The made-to-order Dosa and Naan added a fresh touch to the buffet. They had a good variety of appetizers like soup, manchurian, dhokla, samosa, spring rolls etc. Dosas and naans were served hot on table. Had one panner sabzi and one veg korma, dal, rice, biryani. They also had many desserts like gulab jamun, gajar halwa, kaju roll, chocolate fondue with strawberries, motichoor laddoo, mango lassi and more. Overall a nice buffet but they raised prices for Diwali so it was $30 + tax + service charge mandatory which seems a bit expensive. I don't know why I haven't reviewed this place as I have been here like a zillion times. I have always enjoyed my visit and food here. The service is top notch even though post covid they don't have any staff. The food is as always amazing. Only thing during covid was they didn't have buffet which is the most famous thing here as NJ rules didn't allow for it. But now they have buffet Wednesday-Monday for dinner which is the best thing offered here. They have like 7 appetizers depending on the day, 4-5 curries, 2 rice dishes , pani-Puri and couple of chutneys to go with, almost 7 desserts out of which if you are lucky you might get your hands onto their amazing ice cream. They have fresh naans and small dosa to order as well as soon as you are seated. You should ask for naan when you are mostly done with the appetizers otherwise it gets cold. The managers and staff over here are very polite and their service is better than most of the Indian places in the area. Also make sure you visit this chand palace and not the one in Parsipanny which is completely opposite to what this place is with stale food and frozen items. Oh my goodness. Chand Palace continues to take the cake as potentially the BEST North Indian food I have ever had. It is so so good and the buffet is out of this world. It's a vegetarian's dream - you simply can't ask for more. My husband and I had a fun dinner date night here on Friday and really enjoyed our food. It was the first time we had visited since the pandemic which was definitely weird for my husband who used to frequent this spot. We enjoyed a nice tomato soup, zucchini fritters, samosas, dahi vada, and aloo puri as an appetizer. The main course included veg biryani, paneer mughlai (yum!), gobi manchurian (amazing), saag chole, dhal makhani, and pani puri - all complimented with yummy garlic naan. We also enjoyed a nice mysore masala dosai with sambar. Dessert was a delicious rasmalai. Simply delicious, so flavorful! The customer service is great and I appreciated how prompt they were in refilling all the food and waiting on us. While I unfortunately didn't take a picture of my food, I did include their new pricing structure as they emerge out of the pandemic. Price went up but I don't even mind considering how good the food and service is. Gratuity is automatically included so keep that in mind. I can't wait to come back! read more

Note: This place is all vegetarian! No meat! Didn't know that when I came by craving something meaty, but my friend convinced me to stay and try everything out. So the Monday evening price was a bit steep- two people ended up costing us 46$ for dinner, which is way more than I expected. The options were plenty and the flavors were subtle and authentic, compared to some places where I usually eat. I was glad to see hakka noodles and other indo-chinese inspired dishes on the food bar, along with the two dosas and basket of naan which were said to be complementary, I had plenty to go with my palak, chili paneer, and various other things! So, look. The food is mediocre. The restaurant isn't the cleanest (especially if you go to the restrooms). But it's a buffet of cheap food. We ate there a few times and my kids loved the mango lassi and desserts available on the buffet. And a buffet is nice when you have people who are new to Indian food or not as familiar. I'd probably have given it three stars before. But after today? Nope. Avoid for sure. But the front desk / manager (owner?) is just a stingy nasty person. And why do business with a nasty person when there are so many not nasty people in the world? In fact, the surcharges they are tacking on are ridiculous as well: mandatory tip surcharge (it's a buffet...there are no servers) on top of credit card fees. I've never seen that before. Chand Palace is great and it's probably my favorite Indian buffet in the area. It's definitely fancier than your average Indian buffet and the quality of food is very good. They have samosas (which were delicious), a variety of curries, pani puri, lots of sauces, etc. Dessert is in the back of the restaurant. In addition to the buffet, they also bring you dosa and a generous portion of naan. I enjoyed everything. It was also nice of them to notice that my friend and I were chatting for a while even after we finished eating and brought us our check at the right time so that we wouldn't feel rushed. I took my friends for lunch buffet at this restaurant. What an experience! The entire buffet menu was super delicious and filling! There are several perks: unlimited dosas (four types - pictured below) and naans (made to order). I would recommend starting the feast with aloo papri chaat and then slowly dig into the real goodness. Initially, the zucchini sticks tasted like mozzarella sticks but after further investigation, it was brought to my attention that it's a vegetable. Also, there's a different beverage served every time I go and today they had mint lemonade (that I forgot to photograph), which was refreshing. Serving the people since past 17 years, I had the best vegetarian meal here in this country so far. Usually the restaurant only offers buffet. Started off with pani puri and the pani had a strong mint flavor which really made it amazing. The other stuff in appetizer like cheese pakora, samosa, batata vada, Mysore masala Dosa, spring roll were all awesome. When moving on to their entrées, had navratan korma and baingan Ka bhartha as haven't had these two in a long time. The spices added were of the right amount and this applied to each dish of theirs. The Manchurian too was amazing whereas it combined really well with the masala rice. I really wanted to try out their kofta but only the curry was left. The dessert section was mouth watering too. Jalebi was okay, but Ras malai, Gulab jamun stood out with the latter being served hot which is a rarity here. The malai sandwich was also great. A homey Indian restaurant with a modest vegetarian lunch buffet that anyone can enjoy. I've been here twice with friends for the lunch buffet and it is such a great deal. For ~$11, you get unlimited access to soups, a salad bar, a bunch of Indian dishes that I can't name, and desserts, as well as naan and pita, which the server brings to your table. As a non-Indian, the place was kind of intimidating at first, since the minute you walk in you are flooded with Indian music, art, and smells, and most of the customers are Indian (which really testifies to how good of an Indian restaurant it is). But just try a little of each dish and you are sure to find something you like! My favorite is the paneer, which is curdled cheese (but has the consistency of firm tofu) in a mildly spicy sauce. The garlic naan is also to die for. I think to accommodate all the customers, the buffet also has some foods that everyone is accustomed to, such as jalapeño poppers and fried rice. I had called earlier to make a reservation, and I was told that it was first come first serve... When I got into the restaurant among swarms of people and told the owner that I had called to make a reservation and was told first come first serve, I was called a liar... Then, as I left, there were other nasty comments, shouted at me as I walked out of the restaurant... I will never come to this restaurant again... I have other places where I can spend my money. Maybe a bad day to be in today? We came in with a lot of hopes after reading reviews on occasion of Gudi Padwa. There website still mentions $19.99 for lunch for the weekend. It was so average for a $21.99 lunch buffet per person. Was quite busy for lunch hour on Saturday afternoon. We were seated on a table for two For starters Tomato soup- reminds me of the soup they served us on the long train journeys we had in india. Not the best but brought back those memories. Quite peppery Jalapeño poppers- not something I would exorevy on Indian buffet but average in taste. Tokri chaat- disappointed that it was over at 2pm and never refilled. But looked appetizing . Vegetable stuffed kebab - had a nice Chilli paneer- saucy- very tangy though. The paneer was hard and wasn't quite appetizing. Pani puri - the best thing on the entire buffet. The puris were fresh and the water was sweet tangy and spicy. Exactly what we had at that chat wala back home. The boondi potato mix was quite okay but thoroughly enjoyed it. The server also asked for dosa choices between Mysore masala and cheese dosa. We were surprised to see not the size of the dosa ( they come in uttapam sized) but the kind of cheese- maybe American cheese just packed in between the dosa. Not what we expected at all! The next round we called for Mysore dosa without masala and we're given with masala without mysore lol. The sambar and the chutney that it comes with were delicious though. No Main course Paneer Moghlai - the gravy for this was quite good, again the paneer wasn't. Dal rice - nothing finishes a good meal without Dal rice. The rice was a bit greasy but went well with the dal. Potato peas mix vegetable- nothing spectacular but not bad as well Malai kofta - it was alright We asked for garlic naan at the table. Dessert They had Gulab jamun - warm, perfectly soft and sweet. Rasmalai - I kid you not, it tasted exactly like Nanaks frozen Rasmalai if you have tasted. I'm praying it was prepared fresh but if not then Chocolate covered strawberries with chocolate fountain to dip it in - seemed to be quite famous with the kids. Did not try. Chikki bites Mango lassi - also popular with everyone. Thick yogurt drink was alright. Btw, They have single restroom for each gender. The women's s restroom sink was flooded but the restroom was clean otherwise. We paid a total of ~54$ -which btw includes server charge of $7 - for two people quite expensive for the quality served honestly. read more

We scheduled a party for about 20-25 people last week for 12:30 to 2:30 pm on a Sunday. The day before the party, we were told that they could only host us from 12:00 to 1:45 pm. We had confirmed multiple times that the party would be two hours long, yet they changed it to one hour and 45 minutes. We were asked to leave at exactly 1:45 pm. The hosts should have informed us of this on the day we made our reservation, rather than the day before the party. If the timing is so serious, they should have given something in writing about the time rather than changing the time according to their whim to have more business. We went there for Lunch Buffet on a Sunday. The price of the buffet 19.95+tax+service charge, total came out to be ~$27. It was not at all worth the price. Apetizers - all items were fried, different shapes but they all taste the same. Limited chaat counter along with paani poori. Dosa, Naan, Roti was serves on the table. For main course 4 out of 5 times were sweet, Paneer Tikka Masala Veg KormA Malai Kofta *all of the above had same red sauce filled with heavy cream. Methi Malai Mutter. One non cream item was Chilli Soya but full of tangy sauce, hardly had any right balance of spices. Desert counter had all over the counter Indian Sweets like Malai Sandwich, Ras Malai, Milk Cake and a few others. I can't believe I've never reviewed this place. I've been going here occasionally since I was a little kid, and I used to be in once every other week when I lived in New Brunswick. Now I still try to pop in sometimes because the food is crazy good. It's a vegetarian's delight, since the buffet never has meat dishes. But I've brought plenty of meat-eaters here and they love it too. The selection is huge, the food is invariably delicious, and the dosas are especially great. If I were a vegetarian and lived locally, I would probably come here quite often. For their lunch buffet, I liked their take on vegetarian versions of traditional dishes. I thought the garlic naan we were served was just about perfect - crisp on the bottom, soft on top, and with enough garlic taste to be flavorful but not overpowering. I liked the samosas, which had what I thought was a strong dose of cumin or cardamom. The gem is the dessert station, which had more desserts and sweets on it than any dessert station I have ever seen at any Indian buffet. Service is also quite good. But there were also some disappointments. While tasty, I felt the buffet was way too heavy on starches. There were multiple types of rice, and most of the dishes were heavy on potatoes or chickpeas. I think I could count the types of vegetables I saw on the buffet with 1 hand. And then there's the business of tacking a gratuity onto the bill for a buffet, even for 2 people? For dinner, or a large party, I don't mind; this was just... well, to put it nicely, unexpected. So if this is your first time at the restaurant, check your bill before paying. And if the restaurant really feels the need to add the tip on in this way, may I suggest enhancing the buffet with some of that tip money: cauliflower, green beans, peppers, eggplant, more onions, etc. read more

We had a phenomenal experience here last night. The owner and chef at the restaurant provided exceptional service. They were both very friendly. I had asked if they had onion chutney. Even though they do not serve this anymore, the chef specially went into the kitchen and prepared it for us from scratch. The food we ordered (hara bara kebabs, gobi manchurian, idli vada combo, tava vegetables and onion gobi kulcha) were all delicious and freshly prepared. Another kind gesture as we were leaving was when the chef brought us some onion chutney to go when I expressed how much I enjoyed it. Updating my tip to add more details here. I called these folks on CHRISTMAS DAY (you'll see why I am emphasizing this later)... Anyway, like I was saying, I called to ask them for the main items on the buffet and, the dude said there are too many items to list. Me: ok, what are some of the items for dessert? He: I can't tell you, maybe you didn't understand I thought it was rude but gave him the benefit of doubt (maybe cultural miscommunication?) and decided to stop by the restaurant to check it out. Once I decided to stay at the restaurant, I asked the man at the front desk if he answered the phones a while back. He: why? Was it you who called asking me about the menu? Me: yes He: I CANNOT TELL YOU THE ITEMS Me: what is the need to be rude? I then asked you to tell me only the dessert items. That would have been 1 or 2 items. He: I TOLD YOU I CANNOT TELL YOU Bear in mind that he was shouting at me in front of other customers as well. Me: can I please talk to the manager? He: I am the manager. Me: well if as a manager, you are practicing such poor customer service, people will hesitate to come here He: ok DONT COME I don't know why you can't get it that I can't tell you the items The dude never understood my point but I figured that after all that, I wasn't going to eat there anyway and me staying and trying to reason with him over the importance of atleast basic customer service skills was only going to put a damper on the existing customers there. I just moved to the area and was looking for a good Indian place. Chand Palace delivered. I was initially a bit disappointed that they were vegetarian only as I'm a big fan of Indian chicken dishes. With that said, my concerns went away quickly. I came in and asked if they were doing a paneer dish or gulab jamun for dessert. I was told yes on paneer no on gulab jamun that day. There's no bread plate because they make you fresh naan and dosa, which is great. Everyone who has had Indian before knows the naan are wayyy better fresh. I really liked the appetizers which included a delicious fried onion thing and the main courses which included daal and paneer makhani. I've had overcooked and undercooked paneer before. The consistency was perfect but if I'm nitpicking I wish the sauce were a bit thicker. They had fresh lemonade available to drink and on my second visit they actually had mango lassi. The owner, awesome as he is, brought me some gulab jamun come dessert time since I had asked about it earlier. For the price this is definitely a worthwhile buffet. read more

While I'm not a vegetarian this is one of the best Indian buffets I have been to. I almost did not miss all the tasty animals I usually enjoy at other buffets. The food is extremely fresh and there is always a huge selection of items to choose from. The daal is always outstanding and the aloo dishes are fantastic. Plenty of sides and condiments to add more flavor to your plate. They also have sweets and desserts if you somehow managed to leave room. The restaurant is very clean, large and accommodating.
