He was very disrespectful about it. He told her they have no refunds . He than proceeded to take another girl who was tsking the drive test in place of my daughter mind you wearing the same ugg shoes. My daughter is native american and the other girl was European american white. I couldn't attend my daughter's drive test that day I had to work. But I believe that my daughter was wrongfully discriminated against. My daughter is sweet and very respectful. When I called to speak to a manager. The young girl who answered was very rude. And stateded"we don't give any refunds" she started "the Washington state department of licensing says my daughter can't wear those type of shoes to take a dri e test" I asked if that was stated on the 911 driving school website. She said yes. I asked her are you sure. (It doesn't say that anywhere on their website) she never got the manager. I than asked if my daughter can take the test with another driver. This was an option. My daughter is rescheduled. I feel like this needs to be addressed. I wonder how many people, young kids of color they do this too. They just take their money and not give them a chance to even take the tests. No refu d policy needs to be adjusted or a new staff. Who do not discriminate. This is not right.

These resources supplement in-car instruction and help reinforce important concepts, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the challenges of driving on their own. Furthermore, Joe's passion for his profession is contagious, inspiring students to take their driving education seriously and strive for excellence. His enthusiasm for teaching extends beyond the confines of the classroom, as he actively seeks out opportunities to engage with students outside of scheduled lessons, whether through additional practice sessions or informational workshops. Defensive Driving is a chain throughout the Skagit area, and it has some pros/cons…read more A positive is that the instructors are engaging, especially online, which is very helpful for a digital class. However, a con is that they often cut observed drives short, and ask the students if they want to end early. I wish they wouldn't ask a teenager if he/she wants to end early - because the teenager invariably wants to go home and do nothing. Defensive Driving needs to provide the hour of observation/instruction that I'm paying for. A pro is that the instructors provide good feedback and lend confidence to the learners. However, a HUGE con is that they never have drive times available afterschool or on the weekend. They only put one month up at a time on the schedule agent, so if you don't get any dates that month, you can't even go forward to the next month to schedule. I refuse to let my son to skip school to do observed drives. Perhaps they need to hire more trained observers. Another positive is how easy it is to take both the written and practical driving tests with Defensive Driving. It really is seemless. But, another negative is that the instructor has the students use his own personal car for the exam (maybe he gets a tax write-off), instead of the cars they have been practicing in and are used to. Unfortunately, there is odd rubber-band placed on the brake pedal, which really distracted my son who has sensory issues. He failed his first driving exam because the rubberband on the brake pedal was a huge distraction.

The owner or manager at this Stanwood location is AMAZING. We had the opportunity for my sons high…read moreschool or this drivers Ed company which happens to be within walking distance of the high school. It's a tad more expensive but worth every penny as I've heard nothing but amazing things about how this school operates. I also get the pleasure to watch these adorable teens parallel park in front of my house quite often. I stopped in the other day to sign my son up in which they do sign ups on online. I stopped by and the owner/manager was so helpful, so positive, such a great guy. Works well with kids with learning disabilities he mentioned also. Who teaches my son how to drive legally is so important to me. My son (all kids) are my world and teaching styles can be so different. I immediately knew not only the first time but the second time I was able to talk to him that this hands-down was the place to go. It's worth the extra 40 or $50 trust me. And there flexible so many different options like weekend versus weekdays. Also currently still doing online classes also however I am choosing in person as it will fit my son better. and it's next-door to the YMCA in which he's always at. When it comes to your kids safety it's priceless not to mention the experience, even the memories that he will gain are important. I feel this will be more tailored to his needs but most of all MY BIGGEST PET PEVE is when adults/teachers don't treat kids with the same respect as they do parents for instance that they will be treated I'm sure with the same respect as the parents are. I would highly recommend this location in Stanwood. My daughter went through the high school drivers Ed 10 years ago they did a good job but usually it's teachers teaching at the HS and you don't know what one probably where is I know my son Maddox will be able to succeed and have a better learning experience under this facility and educator. Meeting him twice GREAT GUY WHO YOU CAN TELL CARES but also enjoys what he does huge bonus versus some teachers at the school I'm sure could get a little cranky if there with high school students all day (I get it lol ) and then teaching them to drive after UGG. Bless them. Oh and their cars are very nice new and clean. Thanks Defensive Driving School. We will see you soon. The yellow truck is no longer in front of my home but we have a grey Kia out in front you can parallel park next to anytime.

Super happy I decided on the Defensive Driving School located in Silverdale! Three things made my…read moreexperience at Defensive positive, stress-free, and successful (as I passed my driving test on the first try!) 1. The instructor: Mitch is such a rad guy. He is patient, laid-back, and upfront-- if you are doing great, he let's you know what you're succeeding in which increases your confidence in driving and reinforces GOOD "habits" (driving techniques)! If you're struggling, he will also not hesitate to let you know where you need improvement without condescending or belittling you. I made some pretty embarrassing mistakes during some lessons, but he never once made me feel silly or discouraged for messing up, instead he provided insight and tips which alleviated a lot of pressure. His style of teaching also makes it so much easier to learn because there are no surprises and there is no awkwardness either. Ultimately, I believe his teaching style would work for anyone because he adjusts his lessons to fit his learner and what works best for them, whether that is more verbal guidance or taking you step-by-step once, twice, fifteen times. I really enjoyed my time spent with Mitch and his success in teaching really reflects in his students' vast improvement-- I never thought parallel parking would be such a snap for me as it is now! Additionally, because he is the main instructor at this location, more often than not you will end up taking your skills test with him which really is a huge benefit for anyone taking the skills test the first time around-- I wasn't nervous at all and my confidence showed because I knew he had given me all the tools I needed to pass. 2. Flexibility of hours and Variety of driving packages: As a recent college grad just getting their driving license, I am so happy I was able to skip the classroom sessions and group car rides and instead get one-on-one lessons with Mitch. I am a much better individual learner than I am group learner, so this contributed to my comfort, lessened my anxiety, and allowed me to really grasp the skills quickly. From browsing around, Defensive is the only driving school I found in the area that had so many different packages, from classes with driving practice for teens to those like me who want multiple 1-hr or 90-minute one-on-one lessons. I liked that I could shape the lessons around my schedule, as someone going through lots of changes-- something which was not offered at other competitors in the area. Additionally, as an adult, there are options of booking lessons as closely/far apart from one another as desired which may be a helpful note for folks like me who are not teens-- just call their customer service hotline and let them know you need them to change your profile to fit this feature. However, it's important to note that teens cannot book lessons any closer than 5 days apart. The schedule agent online booking site they use makes appointment bookings easy as can be. You don't have to wait to call to book lessons and there's no need to walk in with a check, which was convenient for me. If you ever need to reschedule or made a mistake on the site, Defensive's customer line is just as impressive as everything else, as they were always super kind, clear, quick (but not rushy), and helpful on the phone. 3. Price: For my 5 lessons, I thought what I paid was fair and every dollar was well spent. Some people may look at the classroom/driving packages for their teens and be tempted to not book with Defensive and go for a cheaper competitor, but I cannot sincerely say enough that you cannot compete with the level of professionalism and skill that they have here! Overall I'm a happy and safe new driver thanks to Mitch and would recommend Defensive @ Silverdale for new drivers!
