I travel the country stopping at record stores in every city. This shop was recommended to me by…read moresome Seattle locals. The store itself is well-stocked, organized and has an overall amazing vibe. They play GREAT music. They have a really well curated collection of stuff and I was super impressed by their collection of funk/soul/r&b. I found a number of cool stuff. I will say, their prices are really high, especially with condition of records. They were asking $25 for a vinyl with a shredded cover that I purchased in VG+ condition for $20 elsewhere. I would have bought WAY more from them, but why would I pay $15 for a record i could buy for $8-10 elsewhere that's probably in better condition? I know there's a premium on all records up here but with sales tax so high, it really prices out the base consumer. I had a stack of 30 records I wanted, but ended up only getting a few. I got two t-shirts and 3 records and it was $120. Ouch. Their "bargain bin" was anything but a bargain. Thrashed records, asking $15-25. Still a cool store, with great selection of genres. The lady that checked me out was really nice.

Until I started trying to bring in my own music from local bands that I play in. I've tried to bring in two separate projects from two different bands on two separate occasions. I walked in and politely introduced myself and presented the situation. I said, "I play in such and such local band, and we made some physicals of our last project", and then I'd ask if they'd be willing to sell some copies at their store. The first time, the employee literally laughed at me and said "I mean, I guess", and took out $1 price tag stickers and put them on my cassette tapes right in front of me. The second time, the owner Bryan, didn't even return my hello, audibly groaned under his breath and told me "he's super busy right now". He barely even looked at me, let alone check out what I brought in. I understand if the demand for local music isn't as high as other things. But the way this store goes about turning people away has 100% ensured that I'll never spend another dime here. Whatever they've got going on at this store; they certainly don't care about local music.

The staff is knowledgeable and interesting. There is a good selection of high-end records here which are hard or impossible to find at most vinyl-only shops. Prices are reasonable considering Discogs market rates. I make a point to stop in every time I'm in Gig Harbor!

The staff are quirky - the good kind of quirky. They know their stuff and they aren't herding you to buy what they have. Instead I feel like I'm having a conversation with a super knowledgeable enthusiast whose opinions I can trust. I bought my first piece, a Leben amp, and it was everything it was claimed to be. Recently I added a set of Chartwell speakers which have their special charms. Great shops like GHA make you want to return. They dig their music and they treat customers with respect - educating where helpful and never condescending. They lean towards tubes and English hifi, but spend time listening and you'll understand the charm. Prices are fair and trades are welcome and fairly valued.

It was The Nearsighted Narwhal! Of course I had to check it out. The shop is small, but has a ton of fun and witty gifts and items, from local zines to buttons to prints. I spent a good amount of time, checking out all the different and detailed items. Specifically, I really liked the magnets they sell here, as they have clever sayings with a colorful background. In fact, when I was checking out, I asked the owner if there were any more and she mentioned that she was making more magnets and to stop by again for different sayings. One that I bought says, "Not today motherfucker." Now who wouldn't want that hanging at their office? The Nearsighted Narwhal is a great store to browse and shop local. If in the area, definitely pay this shop a visit and support the local artists that sell their work here here. Plus, ya gotta love the Tacoma pride found, as they sell many items from tees to magnets, expressing Tacoma is cool and Seattle drools. Hah!

She let us in and was very pleasant and helpful as we shopped for t-shirts, lotions and decals. The jewelry was amazing-very bold and wearable. We each bought a t-shirt and I got a pepper lotion to use on sore muscles- whoa, its very potent! But I think I like it. The book and zine section was cool. I wish I had more time to browse that section.

When I first…read morevisited Definitive's Bellevue location over 10 years ago, my initial impression was that their focus was more on home theater installations than on 2-channel audio for music listening. Definitive certainly does have some of the nicest looking listening rooms in the Seattle area. But I've learned through subsequent visits that they do have a high degree of expertise in putting together good sounding systems. In addition to their work in home theater and home automation, the folks at Definitive are highly capable of putting together great sounding systems for serious music listeners and for people looking to have music playing around the house. Buying speakers three years ago Buying a DAC two years ago If you are into playing vinyl records. Definitive has one of the few experts in the US skilled in setting up the Linn LP12 turntable. Though the LP12 is an older design, it has been continually updated through the years. I appreciate that on a recent visit, Hans at the Seattle store took the time to allow me to hear several configurations (with increasing sound quality) of the LP12 turntable with two levels of phono preamps. Though I have loved the sound of the LP12 turntable in the past, my impression was that newer turntable designs have since surpassed what the LP12 can do. Boy, was I wrong. The ability of the LP12 turntable to sound musical remains exceptional & I was surprised by the ability of a phono preamp to clarify the sound.
