    Authentic Tacos

In Little Rock, this will probably be the best place to go for authentic tacos with onion and cilantro and the whole shabangabang. Try the chicharron tacos.

Have you tried this place yet? It's located at 65th and South University right before the I-30 exit. It is a Mexican Grocery store and restaurant/bakery. For one, I didn't realize how big it was inside. If you sneak off to the right, there's another part of the store with everything you might need for any Catholic celebration or baby shower from the most beautiful First Communion dresses to the cutest little baby shower party favors and decor. I came to try their Al Pastor tacos. The corn tortillas are handmade. Very fluffy and great texture. The Al Pastor meat is pork butt marinated in a secret sauce that the owner would not give me a hint of the recipe (which it's soooo good I wouldn't give it out either!). It is topped with the traditional cilantro and onion, served with tomatillo sauce and a huge jalapeño. All I have to say is AMAZING! I also had their fresh strawberry punch... so refreshing! The icing on the cake was their pastries. I am Filipino so I picked something that looked like a huge pilipit. It was buttery, flakey, and not too sweet. You should try this place! It is authentic Mexican not Tex-Mex. also while you're in there, shop around, pick up some beautiful avocados or even a beautiful huge piñata.

I am from Mexico, not a fake transplant but born and raised and this is the CLOSEST I've ever gotten to having real tacos!

I am from Mexico not a fake transplant but born and raised. Del campo a la ciudad is the closest I've ever gotten to having that taste from home in a single taco. delicious! Don't be scared to try the papas. The stews are amazing! The tortillas are freshly pressed and the red salsa is a bit spicy so go with the green. I just about drank the entire bottle of salsa it was so good! Don't let the outside deceive you. This place is a hidden gem and the tacos are authentic, the servers nice and helpful and I just want to move in there so I can have an unlimited supply of tacos. Nuff' said.

Great menudo! The chicharones were okay - just a little overcooked. Took a while to get anyone to take my order, though...lol

Best chicken quesadillas I have had in Little Rock! Be warned the Pastor is super greasy but delicious!

I was a bit confused going here as it is in the back corner of Mexican grocery.

We'd barely been seated 2 minutes before our server approached. "Can I start you off with some…read moreCheese Dip?" he cheerfully asked. Melting Pot Cheese Dip ($9), a food I don't recall ever previously experiencing, is said to have been invented in Arkansas and is considered an important part of Arkansas food culture. It's Tex-Mex-adjacent but closer to some delicious version of Cheese Whiz than Queso Fundido. Strewn with a liberal application of jalapeños and served with a big basket of fresh tortilla chips, this is the best way to start any meal but certainly the only way to start a meal here. We followed with Fish Fry Tacos (2 for $16.50), equally fresh, unique, and satisfying and not the type of fish tacos for which San Diego is known. Accompanied by your choice of 2 sides, I loved the "Smashed Smoky Pinto Beans" and was transfixed by the fresh flavors found in the "Tomato, Cucumber, and Mint Salad". Heights Taco & Tamale features lively decor in a space that's a joy to dine in with food that makes things even better. Who knew that Arkansas had its own spin on Tex-Mex food? I'm now a rabid fan of Ark-Mex food.

I want so badly to like this place but they make it so hard…read more It's really close to the house but every time we go it's...meh. Last time my margarita didn't come until after the food. Server blamed the bartender. Bartender blamed the server, then said, "I'll speak to your server". Sugar, I don't want you to speak to my server. I just want you to mix my skinny Margarita in a glass with Tajin® on the rim- cuz Ima skinny little westside bitch- hand it to my server and send it my way. No speaking required. They have no carnitas. They have no machaca. And that tells you the whole story. I always get the Plato 47- but why? The plate looks beautiful, but visual joy doesn't carry you through. I take a couple of bites of taco, and it's just kind of bland. Same with the tamale- just not very tasty. Same with everything else, except the Margies. They are good. Let me tell you, it's a sad day when I leave more than half the food on the plate. Disclaimer: I do live in LA, and we know what Mexican food is supposed to taste like, but the food here is only photo-perfect. Did ICE carry all your Mexicans away or what? Oh yeah, BTW: #FuckICE #ChingaTuMaga
