I love this beach. Bring the off-season, it is rarely attended. Still a lot of people taking advantage of the unseasonably warm California winter. Dogs should be on leases but it seems rarely enforced. Parking is a bit tricky for a predominantly residential neighborhood. Get here early and stay the day or park in long term parking nearby.

Shelby on Del Monte Beach enjoying the sun and surf.

It was clean it was close to all the shopping and attractions. Very dog friendly I would definitely recommend going with your dog.

This beach is easy to access, great parking, and you can have your dog on one side. The only downfall is there are a lot of people that stay overnight in the parking lot and I've noticed over the last couple of years there's a lot more trash. People clean up after yourselves! Great sunsets and big beach area.

Had an amazing time. Kids made sand castles. Great cool weather. Perfect 68 degrees. A Beach kind of day. Highly recommend if your in town.

Morning drive to the beach. This particular beach is located in a neighborhood next to the apartment complex seen in the HBO show Big Little Lies. Parking is plentiful when it is early morning, like my outing today. It is a public beach with board walk trails all with views of the beach. You can see all the way over towards Santa Cruz in one direction and Monterey/Pacific Grove the other direction. This is also a surfing beach at times. Other things that can happen here, bonfires for sure, as seen from the rubbish left behind, unfortunately, and I want a bonfire before my summer vacation is over. I get distracted, it is a neighborhood/public beach access to a gorgeous large beach area. Port of potties are at one end of the street as well. It is a one way street in and out which is tight. No parking fee that I could see but I have seen other reviews commenting on the parking situation costing $$. Maybe they went to another location. The beaches here are all connected by way of the sand and walking. It was wonderful to sit and listen to the waves on this beautiful early morning outing. Cheers and happy beach adventures Yelpers.

Beautiful and stunning beach. There isn't too much people because the beach is pretty expansive. Great view of the coastline on both sides as well as the ever extending Pacific Ocean. Parking is relatively easy as there are a lot of free street parking near residential areas, but then again we did go on a weekday afternoon. The beach is also extremely clean and there are a lot of different activities you can take part in. The only downside is that there are no showering areas.

Beautiful beach. Scenic, peaceful. Lots of folks walking their dog, hunting for treasure, flying their kites. Husband and I walked here from our hotel, set down a towel, and just sat listening to the waves.

We stopped here for a little bit just to eat ourto-go early dinner. Beach is nice. We were a bit surprised that there were a nice amount of people considering we are still shelter in place orders and some were not even wearing a mask.

    Good morning.

In A Nutshell: -Del Monte Beach is an awesome beach. -Small in size, yet big in privacy. -If you are looking for a nice, tucked away beach, then this is it. -You'll be away from the big Monterey Beach crowds. -You can also bring your dog(s) to this beach. -Please make sure you respect the neighborhood while you drive through and park. -It's highly advisable to come here during the early morning, like 7am early if you want to ensure an enjoyable time w/ maximum privacy. Overall, re-read the last bullet point!

This is one of my favorite beaches to frequent. Love that dogs are allowed!! Plus the wind doesn't seem to get too bad here compared to some of the other popular beaches in the area. Parking can be difficult on a really nice day so it's best to come here early or on a late afternoon. There are some boardwalks to make walking across the beach and finding your spot while carrying all your stuff much easier. I've seen people do some fishing, surfing and kayaking here so it's not super rough water most of the time. Not much else to say. It's a great beach and a go-to!

Del Monte Beach rusted steel beams

BEWARE: rusty jagged beams at Monterey Del Monte Beach during negative low tide. They are the old pier beams from the Del Monte Hotel dock; they are almost directly in front of the street called Camino Aguajito . Also there are usually dead marine animal carcasses littering this beach, but on the right day it's good for walking or jogging.

When I was staring at the waves, I started to think to myself: "One thing, I don't know why It doesn't even matter how hard you try Keep that in mind, I designed this rhyme To remind myself how I tried so hard In spite of the way you were mocking me Acting like I was part of your property Remembering all the times you fought with me I'm surprised it got so (far) Things aren't the way they were before You wouldn't even recognize me anymore Not that you knew me back then But it all comes back to me In the end You kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when... I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn't even matter I had to fall To lose it all But in the end It doesn't even matter" I was looking at limitless possibilities. Life w/ a new and clear vision. I was free and deep inside, I knew that I am on the right path to a bigger and better future. I was finally living for the kids and I was finally living for myself. I was happy. Picking Monterey to kickoff Gavin's 2nd birthday was a great decision. Not only did the kids had fun, I had a chance to let things sink in and pushed the waters under the bridge. I was no longer sad or frustrated w/ my past. It's like I have died and started anew. Looking around, I see a rather clear and empty beach. The sands weren't as pretty as the ones you see on television or in such places like Hawaii however, this is my beach... it is kept as clean as it can be, the waters will never be clear, and it's always subzero temperature but it's a great place to kayak, surf, or simply stare and appreciate nature. You can also see sea lions and sea otters! Started my obsession w/ surfing. I kid you not. I will do it in 2 weeks. Life is great now and I couldn't be happier.

Life's a beach, and this one's a simple one. We came here on a sunny President's Day and just relaxed. It's why we go to the beach in the first place right? Our dog decided to join us to, and she just loved it! Highlights: ~ Pet friendly. ~ Poop bag stations near the entrances. ~ Classic beach wooden walkways, with a few tables and benches along the way. ~ Nice dune areas that are preserved. ~ Fantastic views. ~ People seemed nice. No bums. ~ Pretty clean sand with seaweed everywhere. Ha! ~ Street parking. No issue finding a spot. Not the greatest beach in the world, but not the worst. Better than most, so I wouldn't mind returning to this one at all! I took in the sun, my pup took in the fun , and we enjoyed it!

There were not many people out around 11a, as the day went on both sides of the beach filled quickly. There were three places on site to grab a bite to eat, caffeinate or cool down from - Creama (6:30a-2:30p), Lovers Point Beach Cafe (9a-4p) and Snack Shack (10-6). There was a clean, public restroom for men and women to the left of the cafe. Look for the yellow awnings and follow it to the black gates. Turn into that area and you will locate the restrooms. There is a volleyball court directly across from the beach, two sandy beach areas separated by a tall wall of rocks. The beach area furtherest from the parking lot had so much sea life to experience first hand - our daughter was amazed as were we. It was also quieter with fewer people using that side. There are 15 steps leading down to each beach area. The wildlife is everywhere and SO comfortable with people. A squirrel stood in front our daughter while she ate her cracker, a seagull stared at me while I opened a wrapper for our daughter. There was a parking lot that fits 20-30 cars and street parking. People were still arriving around 5p looking for parking in the lot unsuccessfully. I would definitely recommend arriving early to secure a parking spot and a preferred spot on the sand. Our daughter existed here for six hours and was still not ready to leave. She's a young one. There were lots of kids on the beach, most playing with each other and sharing buckets, shovels and seashells. We will definitely return before the summer is over. So breathtaking and fun for all ages to enjoy in and out of the water.

Carmel Beach is recognized as having the 'whitest' sand in the United States, and number 14 globally. This color comes from quartz deposits eroded by the waves. There is a parking lot at the north end of the beach on Ocean Avenue (maybe 30 spots or so), that is usually filled, meaning people are constantly idling in the parking lot, waiting for a spot. The parking lot is elevated from the beach, requiring carefully going down a sand bank. My wife and her mom decided to admire the view by sitting on a retaining wall at the top of the bern, while I happily went down to the shoreline to admire the views. The sand here is more golden than white. The road that runs parallel to the beach and boardwalk in Carmel is Scenic Road and we took it as we headed back to our cottage. There was street unmetered parking spots available and I noticed how much brighter/whiter the sand was in this area (a lot less crowded as well). Thinking back, wish we had stopped so I could have admired this part of the beach a bit more.

It's so serene, scenic, natural, cool, and both the botanical plantlife as well as the animals (air, land, and ocean wildlife) you can find and view here are just so amazing. Being it's in the Monterey Bay, it's almost always cool when it's hot in the valley, so it's another great place to escape to. It's just a very nice and unique point in the bay and although you can spend the whole day here, or even several days, a couple of hours will also be very rewarding for a change of scenery for those of us who are urban dwellers who want to reconnect with God's natural wonders once in awhile. Overall, Point Lobos is an authentic, breathtaking, and calming place for those who enjoy seeing the ocean and taking in all the native plants, vegetations, and all the air, land, and sea creatures one can encounter or at least observe here.

So instead of hotels and golf courses, the land remains natural and somewhat pristine. The state parks department really takes great effort in keeping this place clean and natural. They maintain this place at a high level and they don't even allow dogs into the park. The parking is super limited given the space and popularity. Within the first 2 hours of opening even on a weekday, the lots will be closed and visitors will be forced to park on the highway wherever it is allowed. It's somewhat of a clusterf*% trying to get in during prime day hours. If you park outside it will be about a 1 mile walk to get to the ocean which is where all the views are. The consolation of parking outside is that you won't get charged a day fee of $10. But you'll have to walk a good amount more. I was camping nearby so my camping pass on my windshield allowed me to bypass the parking fee. I also went in the first hour of opening which was around 8-9 am, so zero issues driving in. When I was leaving 3 hours later the parking lot 'full' sign was up, forcing cars to park outside the park. The weekends are much worse. There is a trail that goes the circumference of the park which is about 75% with ocean views and the rest inland. It is about a 5-6 mile trek to do the whole thing. But many just do segments and just site-see versus trying to see the whole thing. It is worth to explore here IMO as the views are just so damn worth it, and relentless in surprising you. It was my first time and I knew this was a massive tourist spot, so I had my reservations about this place. But I now know why this place is so popular. The plant and tree habitat that is native here from weathered cypress trees to a rainbow of wildflowers, just seamlessly blends into one another. With a keen eye you'll be able to see all kinds of animal life here from all kinds of birds to whales to sea otters. You'll need binoculars for those, but many set up spots to view such harder to spot sightings. You'll have to view the pics from this place to get a true sense. Actually even from their collection of uploaded pics, I've never seen a bigger concentration of quality photos. This place is truly a photographer's dream. So come short or long, thorough or concise but just find a way to see this at least once. It is that special but you do have to be into nature and the outdoors. Otherwise just pay the admission to go to the Monterey aquarium where it'll just get staged for you.

There are pros and cons to every place you might visit, and this beach is no different. I will…read morepreface mine with this: YES, as other reviews mention, there are homeless people who set up near and on this beach. NONE of them are mugging you, though. They want to be left alone and they leave you alone, IF you pay them no attention. Go about your day! Enjoy your stay! Second, yes, dead animals wash up on this beach. Guess what! They do that on ALL beaches worldwide. It's not unique to this one. That being said, this is one of my absolute favorite beaches in the area, for many reasons. Parking is easy and can be free. While there is a pay parking lot attached to this beach for easy access to it, we never use it. We use either the lot across the street, which offers 2-hour parking until 6pm and no limit on time until 10pm, or we go further down the street beside Dennis The Menace Park to park on the street, where it's unlimited parking all day long. It depends on when we arrive and how long we'll be there. Want to go swimming? Teaching your littlest ones about the beach and how to stay safe in the surf? THIS is the beach for it! There aren't exactly waves here. Well, there are, but they're so tiny they can hardly be called waves. They're swells that roll up onto the beach in cute little miniature "waves" and the return back to the ocean is very mild. It's the perfect place to introduce your small children to the ocean, perfect place to take people who aren't strong swimmers, perfect place for you to get in a little ocean swimming time in calm waters. You won't have to worry about boats very close to shore, as they don't come really close, won't have to worry about strong rip tides that may pull you or your child out to sea, you just have to worry about them gulping down too much salt water. ***That's not to say you should be complacent when taking your children here, but that you can be a little more relaxed knowing that it's more gentle a beach than some others.*** If you arrive at the right time of day (NO, I'm not telling you when! Sorry, but I won't give up my 'combing secrets that easily!!), you can find a good amount of shells and it IS legal to pick them up on this beach, as it is NOT a state beach. I've found sand dollars, mussel and clam shells, as well as turbans, oyster, scallop (very small ones...), and more types of shells. You might even find abalone shells if you arrive after a storm! You just have to know what to look for and be there at the right time of day - otherwise they'll already be picked over and/or pulled back out to sea. You'll also find hag stones on this beach. Hag stones are rocks that have been tumbled by water in such a way that the water bores a hole into the stone. These are plentiful along this beach and I sometimes take one if it catches my eye. They're good for hanging near your door to keep unwanted visitors away! Or just to decorate, who knows if that actually works ;) The sand here is an extremely fine type and it WILL get into everything. It sticks to your toes even well after it's dried, but it's not the type of sand that hurts you when it's stuck to your feet, so just brush it off as best you can and go about your day. :) There are bathroom facilities all around this beach. If you don't mind buying yourself something to drink there's McDonald's across the street and those will be very clean. If you don't mind slightly less than immaculate bathrooms, there's also a bathroom at the Dennis The Menace Park between the two landmark buildings at the park parking lot. Another public bathroom is at the kayak place and still more bathrooms are attached to the building across the walkway from the kayak place, and one more is at the wharf. This beach is dog-friendly, just please keep Fido on a leash. So many people bring their dogs here off-leash and it's just not the place for it. Also please be sure to clean up after your pooch. Nobody likes to step in dog doody; we *really* don't like it if it's buried in the sand so that we couldn't see it before it squished between our toes. In all, this is an awesome beach that I hate to leave a good review for because it might just attract more people to it than I care to see - LOL!! - but it is what it is and I'll brag on my favorite beach of the area any day of the week!
