Stopped by after a long shoe shopping trip. This place is in a very busy area , so you would think it would be crowded as it's relatively new, but I was the only one there until I was about to leave and then two other diners arrived. The reason for its lack of patrons is definitely due to how difficult it is to get in and out of the parking lot. It is close to a traffic light and NOBODY will let you in OR out. Florida is not known for its friendly drivers. Asked the young man what his favorite item was and he couldn't say one thing. Not necessarily a good sign. I kept prompting him and he finally said the fish taco but I'm honestly not sure he had eaten anything there. Lol, he kept looking at the other staff like " Come and help me here." So I got two fish tacos and a cheese and beef burrito with green sauce. For some reason their menu was difficult to read due to lettering size. So I AI'd it and that's what they told me to try. Fish taco was a good fast food taco. Nice crunchy fish and cole slaw. They are not Weight Watcher friendly. Burrito was a burrito. Plain ( minimal green sauce) and too much cheese. Not a fan. Their own packaged hot sauces were tasty. The place and its bathroom was spotless. I liked the fact that they employed both young people and senior citizens. Decided to try this tonight. Order came fast we dined inside. We both got the box orders one is 7 bucks and the other is 9. Del faves and amer-box. The fries were lukewarm and didn't taste good. Krinklecut. The burger tasted like a big Mac but without pickles. It was ok. The beef they use in the tacos and the burritos is very salty and we did not find it good. The one highlight of the food was the chicken taco that was in one of the boxes, it was not that bad. I will probably not be returning this really isn't our kind of food. I decided to give this place a try again and had my friend door dash some food for us from here. Then I decided to use a different alias because I know someone who knew the management personally here and they are all horrible from what I hear and have experienced myself and I really didn't want missing food or a blade in my taco. Literally a waste of 40$. Soggy cold food and the meat tasted like it sat out for 2 days it had such an odd taste. I didn't get my deserts, and the production of packaging the bag was everything smooshed into the bag so it all fit in one like it was too expensive to open a second bag. This location opened yesterday. We decided to try it for lunch at work. I went over about eleven fifteen in the morning. They claim to offer delivery. However, it was not available here yet, nor was online ordering. I waited in the line that was wrapped around the building. It moved pretty fast, I guess, as I was only in line for about forty-five minutes. When I finally got up to the window to pay and get my food, I had to remind them that they missed a drink of my three drink order. Then, when I got back to the office, which is right across the street, luckily, It was discovered that they had forgotten one of the burritos and gave me a sweet tea instead of a unsweetened tea. My coworker had to go back to get her forgotten burrito. That usually takes a few weeks before the service starts to waver at a new location. The manager appeared to want to walk around the parking lot rather than help out inside the kitchen. By the time I was leaving, the like was wrapped around twice, and the manager was not even near the building but next door. Our order consisted of a veggie burrito, carne asada burrito, quesadillas, taco salad, and one crunchy taco. The french fries were way too salty and soggy for a place that just opened an hour before. The veggie burrito was lackluster at best. The quesadilla was not enjoyed by the person who ordered it either. When I heard that Del Taco was coming to Port Charlotte, I was excited. After trying it one time, I will say I will not make that visit again. I'd much rather drive to Tijuana Flats. read more

I will be eating at del taco again, because I want to try more items than what we ate today. This was our first time trying Del Taco which is new to our area. So I'm directly comparing them to Taco Bell where we have gone for years. So we Just ate a fish tacos & del tacos from del taco. Fish was $3.19 and the pathetic flat fish stick was maybe 1/4" thick almost all breading, didn't reach the full length of the taco shell, couldn't even taste fish. Waste of money; very disappointed. [I want to further interject that for $7.09, Culver's has an amazing thick fresh hot fried cod fillet that by weight is probably 6 times the amount of fish in one of these tacos. So if you want a fast food fish item definitely try Culver's.] We got them on soft shell and it turned out to be soft "corn" shell! We didn't expect that. We thought it would be flour tortilla. They should let you know. The cabbage slaw shredded inside my husband's taco had a super hard slab of cabbage core he had to take out of it to eat it. The regular del taco taco doesn't come with sour cream - that costs extra but we didn't add it. Lettuce tomato cheese and meat. I had crunchy corn shell my husband had soft. His soft taco was flour tortilla. We both agree about it being much more generous than the meat portion that we get on a Taco Bell taco. I appreciate that they shred their own cheese (so it doesn't have powdered cellulose added to keep it separated). The flavor was good but doesn't seem like any special proprietary flavor like Taco Bell has. It was good though and the extra meat that comes in it compared to Taco Bell was worth 2.19 compared to Taco Bell 2.79(= price of regular Taco Bell Taco if you add tomato to make it the same ingredients as del taco). So over all, I wouldn't recommend the fish taco. It shouldn't even be an option if they can't make it with good fish. I would recommend trying the regular tacos. I'll try a burrito next time but they don't have anything equivalent to a Taco Bell burrito supreme that I can see on the menu so I suspect it will get costly to add the individual ingredients that we are used to eating on a supreme at Taco Bell. I was really hoping to like this Del Taco better than Taco Bell because we were getting frustrated with Taco Bell recently, making us pull into a parking space to wait for an order when there were no other people in the drive through! By contrast, Del Taco had a line wrapped around the building so I think other people are - either trying it for the first time or else really liking the del taco flavor and service. I ordered some food and specifically requested no tomatoes, but they still included them in my meal. Additionally, there was an avocado piece in my food. I called to address the issue, and the manager was nice, offering to refund and replace my order. However, when we arrived to pick up the replacement food, we heard the staff laughing and making jokes about us through the open window, saying there were no tomatoes in our food and making other unprofessional comments. This was very disappointing, especially as a disabled veteran just trying to enjoy a meal out instead of cooking. As a result, I ended up with a swollen tongue and felt ridiculed by the staff, including the manager. The service was truly terrible. read more

I'm a regular at this Del Taco, and the food is always fresh and consistently good, so no complaints there. But what truly keeps me coming back is the customer service. One Del Taco team member I want to shout out is Ky. Every time I come in and Ky is working, he always has a smile on his face, is always professional, works hard, and goes above and beyond to make customers feel welcome. On Tues I ordered 3 hard shell Del Tacos from the drive through. When I got home and began to eat one I bit into something very hard and sharp that cut my tongue and cheek. I spit out the food and found what appeared to be a half inch piece of broken box cutter. Calling corporate they responded with a call from the district manager who only offered a free meal. Young people working are nice and professional. The issue is this is my third visit and only spend $20.89, and the food tasted just fine, however, it was wrong for the third time. I asked for no cilantro and of course I get home to find all three steak tacos are loaded with cilantro. What else is a bummer and makes me not want to go back is I didn't order three steak tacos. I ordered grilled chicken. The French fries would have been really good if you would have cooked them a little longer - at least get the sogginess out of them without a cool center. I prefer my French fried to not have a cool center to them and like them slightly crispy. The strawberry shake was done well. Other than that, the additional three tacos were just ok. They were only $1.29 so for that cheap price, they were fine. My issue is with the fresh tacos being wrong and worse having cilantro on them. Because of my allergy to cilantro, they had to be trashed and then I had to hear from my wife how awful you are once again and that I'm stupid for continuing to be excited when I order from you. It's not that I should lower my expectations, it's that I should go somewhere else. I just remember how wonderful Del Taco has been at every location I have been to over the years. Your reputation and my past experience having been so positive with you is why I go to your location (and its only 20 minutes from my home), but it is this location that will now keep me from visiting others including this one. read more

We were in this store on September 16th. They have some new staff but we were happy with the service. The order was not entirely right but with a little patience they took care of us right away. Ordered the Del Dorado Epic Burrito, Beer battered fish taco, grilled chicken loaded queso burrito, snack taco and the $7 box. The Del Dorado Epic Chicken burrito was absolutely disgsuting. This particular burrito tasted like it was made with cleaning fluid as sauce. The fish taco tasted very fishy, which typically indicates spoiled fish. The grilled loaded questo chicken burrito was on point. The snack taco was nothing to write home about, worth the $1.50. Neither burrito was labeled to indicate which was which. When asked for help to decipher the difference between which burrito was which, we were greeted by staff with an attitude telling us that theyre marked. We proceeded to ask for a plastic knife to cut the burritos to figure out which one was which and were told they do not have any. Still unable to identify which burrito was which, being one was for me and the other for a friend, staff congregated in the back to discuss the issue. When a team member brought them in the back, unwrapped them was told one is steak the other chicken. We hadnt ordered steak but were willing to eat it. Staff sat in the back discussing the situation. The Del dorado burrito was completely inedible and when asked to have it fixed we were once again greeted with an attitude. The moment we walked into this establishment we were rushed and when we told the cashier we werent ready to order and needed a minute to look over the menu being were first timers, she let out a sigh and kept rolling her eyes as if she had other places to be and we were holding up other people frok ordering when no one else was behind us. When other customers came in we allowed them to go ahead of us being we werent ready. The entire experience was disappointing and unnecessary. Staff needs to be retrained in customer service and the healtb department needs to pay them a visit more often to ensure the quality of the food is up to par. read more
