Hyatt Place Delano - Pullout Couch

    Hyatt Place Delano

Thankfully, Hyatt Place Delano completely disproves that theory. I stay here whenever work brings us out this way, and not once have I had a bad experience. If you're looking for a place with comfortable rooms, a solid continental breakfast, a bar, and good food, you can stop scrolling now. A big shoutout to Steven and Savanna, who seem to be the MVPs whenever we stay here. Steven makes a dangerously good whiskey sour and somehow manages to be bartender, storyteller, and morale booster all at the same time. After a long workday, that positive energy goes a long way. Savanna is just as great--whether she's helping at the front desk or behind the bar, she's always friendly, professional, and makes guests feel genuinely welcome. Employees like them are the reason our crew keeps booking the same spot. The rooms are also a win. You've got a comfortable bed plus a couch area where you can decompress, watch TV, and question your life choices after eating too many wings. Speaking of cleanliness--the place is spotless. You can tell the staff takes real pride in keeping everything dialed in. The breakfast never disappoints either. It's exactly what you want before heading out for the day. And if you're hungry later, do yourself a favor and order the wings. They're excellent with buffalo sauce, but the Asian zing flavor deserves its own fan club. Overall, this place earns a solid five stars. From the employees to the cleanliness to the food, they're doing things right. Honestly, I don't see my foreman picking another hotel when we're back next week--and that's perfectly fine with me. Great job to everyone at Hyatt Place Delano. You've officially become the crew's home away from home.

Vista Del Lago Estate - Filming our ballroom scene in the beautiful courtyard

    Vista Del Lago Estate

Pictures do not do this stunning venue justice! I took a tour of the Vista del Lago estate…read moreyesterday and it is a jewel. The estate itself is available to rent out for family reunions, a romantic getaway, or ladies retreat weekends. They can also accommodate events...weddings, quincenearas, corporate events, fundraisers, school proms, etc. Almost any size event or experience can be accommodated. The owners, Frank and Sanam, are very warm and welcoming. They are perfectionists who want to make your experience the absolute best it can be. The home itself is ... wow ... just wow. Magnificent. You pull into the gated drive, there is a beautiful fountain roundabout. Double doors welcome you into the foyer and you are immediately awed by a grand double staircase leading to the second floor. There are so many beautiful and functional living spaces, a pool table, chefs kitchen (perfect for a cooking demonstration experience or wine tasting event), plenty of set up space for caterers and other event staff to unload and organize, a magnificent custom built dining table with velvet brocade chairs, more crystal chandeliers than I could count! My husband would die for the full theater room (complete with three rows of comfy reclining chairs and cozy blankets). Upstairs there are four Juliet balconies overlooking the 20 acre estate and lake. Every bedroom suite has its own bathroom and sitting areas. The master suite has a two way fireplace so you can bask in the warmth in bed and in the sitting area. The master bathroom has a massive shower and bathtub. The bridal suite features a custom sitting area, three salon quality stations, a huge gilded mirror. No detail has been spared for their guests comfort. There are graceful winding stairs leading down to the courtyard from the bridal suite...imagine the entrance a bride could make descending the stairs while attendants rained down rose petals from the balcony! The venue offers many wedding packages, including an all inclusive package...relax and everything is taken care of for you! Plus, you can honeymoon right there on the estate. Wow! Outdoors there are areas for soccer, tennis, a pool, outdoor sitting areas, barbecue area, strung lights, a beautiful gazebo draped in mature wisteria. Oh, and did I mention that there is a PRIVATE LAKE! There are fish in the lake and you are welcome to bring your fishing pole! There is a boat loading dock. The sunsets from the Juliet balcony in the bridal suite are awe inspiring. There are so many amazing possibilities for this beautiful place. Whether you are planning a romantic tête-à-tête, a dance party (no noise restrictions or curfew!), a corporate event, or pampering weekend for you and your girls, or the wedding of your dreams this is the place! I am hoping to hold a fundraiser here next year for a non-profit organization and can't wait to plan it! I hope you are able to come out and plan your event, big or small. Absolutely stunning versatile venue, stellar customer service and genuinely nice owner/operators.

Great service! We were there for late lunch early dinner and the bar tender took great care of us.read more

The Darling Hotel - High ceilings added to the spacious feel

    The Darling Hotel

We tend to gravitate…read moretowards boutique hotels beyond "big box" properties and The Darling definitely fits the bill in that regard. The rooms are always clean, the Elderwood is an ice touch, and the vibe is always fun. During this trip, all was fine when what sounded like the HVAC system above our room started to knock. It's an old historic building so, things happen. The knocking though quickly turned into a roar. We contacted the front desk and this is where the true professionalism of the hotel crew, and particularly Maria, shined through. Maria quickly came upstairs, assessed the situation, triaged with other teams inside the hotel, and identified a solution within 20 minutes. Given the scope of the repair was unclear at the time, she moved us to another room and even upgraded us (even though she didn't have to!) for the inconvenience. Things happen, that's not an issue for us, it's how the team addresses them when they come up. The Darling team rose to the occasion with flying colors so seamlessly in this situation, especially Maria. So for us, just underscores a series of positive experiences at the hotel. This isn't an ultra luxury 5-star hotel, so don't come here expecting that. But it's a great place to stay in Visalia with a premium, boutique vibe, great restaurant, and clean well apportioned rooms. We will be back.

Room service was good quality, appropriately priced and arrived quickly. The only reason I couldn't give this 5 stars was there was no internal secondary lock on the door which made it feel a little unsafe as a solo traveler and also there were not clear instructions about how to enter the gated parking lot upon checking in. Otherwise I had a good stay and would consider visiting again just to eat at the restaurant.
