Thankfully, Hyatt Place Delano completely disproves that theory. I stay here whenever work brings us out this way, and not once have I had a bad experience. If you're looking for a place with comfortable rooms, a solid continental breakfast, a bar, and good food, you can stop scrolling now. A big shoutout to Steven and Savanna, who seem to be the MVPs whenever we stay here. Steven makes a dangerously good whiskey sour and somehow manages to be bartender, storyteller, and morale booster all at the same time. After a long workday, that positive energy goes a long way. Savanna is just as great--whether she's helping at the front desk or behind the bar, she's always friendly, professional, and makes guests feel genuinely welcome. Employees like them are the reason our crew keeps booking the same spot. The rooms are also a win. You've got a comfortable bed plus a couch area where you can decompress, watch TV, and question your life choices after eating too many wings. Speaking of cleanliness--the place is spotless. You can tell the staff takes real pride in keeping everything dialed in. The breakfast never disappoints either. It's exactly what you want before heading out for the day. And if you're hungry later, do yourself a favor and order the wings. They're excellent with buffalo sauce, but the Asian zing flavor deserves its own fan club. Overall, this place earns a solid five stars. From the employees to the cleanliness to the food, they're doing things right. The staff will cater events if you like, and every time that they have, the food was absolutely delicious! Or if you prefer, you can bring in your own caterer. They also provide the tables and chairs, so there is no need to rent them. You need only rent the hall, and you can also decorate it any way you like for your event. There is a full service bar conveniently located at the facility, which is open from 4:00 - 10:00 daily. You will always find friendly faces their, and the staff provides such great service too.

While the weather itself obviously isn't the venue's fault, it didn't feel like they were fully prepared for rainy conditions. The family ended up providing the tents to keep guests covered during the ceremony, and without speakers it was very difficult to hear anything that was being said. There was a small covered area available for shelter, but it wasn't enough to accommodate all of the guests. Overall, it's a charming venue, but it may be worth reconsidering or planning carefully if booking during a rainy season.

The rooms are always clean, the Elderwood is an ice touch, and the vibe is always fun. During this trip, all was fine when what sounded like the HVAC system above our room started to knock. It's an old historic building so, things happen. The knocking though quickly turned into a roar. We contacted the front desk and this is where the true professionalism of the hotel crew, and particularly Maria, shined through. Maria quickly came upstairs, assessed the situation, triaged with other teams inside the hotel, and identified a solution within 20 minutes. Given the scope of the repair was unclear at the time, she moved us to another room and even upgraded us (even though she didn't have to!) for the inconvenience. Things happen, that's not an issue for us, it's how the team addresses them when they come up. The Darling team rose to the occasion with flying colors so seamlessly in this situation, especially Maria. So for us, just underscores a series of positive experiences at the hotel. This isn't an ultra luxury 5-star hotel, so don't come here expecting that. But it's a great place to stay in Visalia with a premium, boutique vibe, great restaurant, and clean well apportioned rooms. We will be back.

The only reason I couldn't give this 5 stars was there was no internal secondary lock on the door which made it feel a little unsafe as a solo traveler and also there were not clear instructions about how to enter the gated parking lot upon checking in. Otherwise I had a good stay and would consider visiting again just to eat at the restaurant.
